Flea Market Score

Anything that delicate would best be pinned at the joint to give it more strength; I've saved a couple frames that way. -
In my case, the '50 Ford was something I'd been on the fence about since I couldn't decide which version to build. The clearance solved that problem quite well! Now to cast up those '55 Dodge rear quarters for the custom, and figure out how to scratchbuild a lowered top for the stock one... BTW, Deerfield was cleaned out last Friday when I looked.

Hi Jeff, could we see the wire wheels you aren't using? I've been casting up some hard-to-find hubcaps lately - like the ITC '40 Mercury, AMT '60 Ford pickup, and Monogram '40 Ford pickup stock caps - let me know if one of these tickles your fancy.

Wonder if someone will do a resin conversion kit to make it back into the Dream Rod? I've been casting up the original wire wheels with some success, when I can get the bubbles out. I built the original kit with the turntable long ago; it spun the car right off! Luckily it didn't break anything and I gave up after a couple tries with other less delicate cars.

How many builds?
ChrisBcritter replied to NOBLNG's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Several, but if I'm not careful I may finish a couple this year -
When was the last time you checked? The '64-'66 Ford pickups in various versions are in progress, as are the '64 and '65 Novas; that should keep them busy for a while.

Yes, like the rest of the Modified Stockers, AMT wiped this one of all the trim and emblems (even the molded ridge on the center of the hood is gone ). This would be a good candidate for a resin repop as there's no way Round2 will change this one back, and I don't think anyone else ever recast it. I did speak to one local caster at the DuPage show who might be interested (I have two original builtups in the works that could be molded), so we'll see.

Just got back from the DuPage show and picked up a lot of miscellaneous stuff cheap: '60 Galaxie and '65 Comet kits minus bodies for $3 each from a slot car builder Three Trumpeter '60 Pontiac chrome trees for a dollar A junker '55 Dodge promo for $3 (had two good Royal Lancer wheelcovers for casting, plus I want to make molds of the side trim and the rear fenders/taillights to put on the '50 Ford convertible) '57 T-bird hood for $2 Bag of custom parts including a Styline rear end for the AMT '57 Chevy, a near-complete NOS trailer from the '63 Nova wagon, and a Revell custom interior pack for $10 Tamiya paint (mint pearl and medium green) for the '61 Comet project Sold off the '56 and '63 Olds and '61 Dodge I got recently.

I had the same thing, minus most of the problems - the only electronic fail was the tach: Morongo Indian Reservation, Banning, CA. Lots of room in the back when you need to help haul your friends' drums and headdresses, luckily: As you said, a fine road car (although not so great in the rare high desert snowstorms). It did have a weak point with the rocker panels; the plastic holddown clips broke easily and the panels fell off a couple times until I used nuts and bolts with lock washers.

At the Libertyville Hobby Lobby I lucked onto one of those six-packs (five paints, one mixing bottle) of Testor's Aztek paint in the clearance rack for $2.98 (about 90% off). At that price I should get some sorely needed airbrush practice...

Just checked my stash - these tires are from early MPC kits (my set came from an original-issue '60 Vette gluebomb). -

Love love love it, Steve - you're one of my biggest inspirations. The outdoor shots under the cloudy winter sky bring out the shine with a nice subtle effect.
