  1. The '59 Galaxie arrived today and it looks very good - no glue on the glass and the custom grille bar popped off easily. Odd thing is that it has wide whitewalls that appear to be '61 vinyl promo tires; I thought all the Jr. Series snap kits had narrow whites. Has anyone seen any others with WWW tires?
  2. Barely remember the original issue; I built (and later dismantled) the street rod from the Early Iron series. Currently got an original issue builtup stock kit (molded in tan and black). The original kit's hot rod version kinda cheated on the rolling stock: they just swapped out a set of very large cone wheelcovers for the stock outer rims. It really should have had some sort of 16" rims and tires.
  3. Yes, since my dad built them way back when (and I don't happen to have a '27 touring in my collection). I've always been a fan of Tex Smith from his articles in R&C and Rod Action I used to read as a kid.
  4. Tim, just in case you don't want your personal email on it (delete the previous image):
  5. I guess that means you're redoing the hinges to remove the cutouts in the rear panel? Always wondered why Revell got that detail wrong.
  6. How did he put a nail through a 78 without it shattering?
  7. I picked up one of the first issues of this kit around 2000 or thereabouts; what caught my eye first was the shape of the cowl and windshield being too flat. IIRC, there were some writeups in either Scale Auto or Model Car Journal about the problem - or I might have had a phone chat with Dennis Doty; not sure. I ended up buying a Jo-Han '64 Dodge for the cowl and windshield, but I got rid of both before doing anything with them. I frankly expected Lindberg to fix the problems with it - after all, they retooled their '61 Impala to fix its many issues - but they never did. I guess if I really wanted to bother, I'd put a roof from the Jo-Han '63 Plymouth on the Jo-Han '64 Dodge, scratchbuild the B-pillars and window frames, and use the guts from the Lindberg '64 Dodge.
  8. I thought hipsters were into vinyl records now?
  9. As I've said before: Caught those cats napping! Low opening price, mine was the first and only bid - no one sniped me this time: AMT Craftsman '59 Galaxie with few issues; should clean up nicely. Maybe a mild custom, lowered, with tube grille, lake pipes and '60 Ford dog dishes on chrome reverses, or those Car Craft Dream Rod T-bird wires I've been casting?
  10. That makes two of us! The only rice rocket I ever owned: Got it at an estate auction in 2000 for $2400 (only 44k miles) and soon flipped it to some kid from Long Beach. Made a few hundred on the deal but still kick myself for letting it go. Man, when that turbo kicked in...
  11. Would the trash body be usable as a conversion for a 1/32 or 1/35 scale truck body/chassis?
  12. Got the Century Coronado boat today at HL - now to convert a Rambler Marlin V8 to a Gray Marine engine, and modify a '63 Ford pickup steering wheel to look like a '58 Lincoln unit, and build a trailer...
  13. Brenda Lee's "I'm Sorry" was #1 on the Billboard charts when I was born.
  14. Robert, here are the missing photos: Hope this helps.
  15. Al, I know someone who has cast the ''63 Fury turn signals in clear resin - shall I check and see if he has a set? Of course you'd have to use foil or a Molotow chrome pen for the bezels.
  16. I do like the chopped and sectioned '50 Olds built for James L. Price: https://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?title=James_L._Price's_1950_Oldsmobile Would be a nice conversion for the Revell '50 Olds kit, which nearly brings this thread back on topic! So no news today?
  17. Have to give Revell an E for effort (if not execution) on these; at least this way the shapes of the doors matched the body perfectly - an improvement over the Tri-Fives. The sedan had some door jamb area attached to the inner quarter panels, but I don't think the sedan delivery did?
  18. And Hermann gave nearly every car he redid the same rear treatment - cribbed from the GM LeSabre show car. https://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?title=Spohn_Coachworks Loses something in the translation on the '50 Chrysler sedan...
  19. Love the SC/Cross Country - surprised it hasn't been done from the Jo-Han kit by someone here! ...two more than were necessary?
  20. A Henry J that's not a gasser - more like an "oater":
  21. There's a 1/1 conversion kit called Velorossa (and a similar one from Thunder Ranch) for the Datsun 240Z that dresses it up like a Ferrari GTO; maybe combine it with the Revell Z?
