  1. There's just a handful of cars on which this will work; the '57-'59 Ford Fairlane 500 and Galaxie, '58 Edsel Pacer/Ranger, and '62-'63 Galaxie (only the notchback promo hardtop in '63) all used the same roof for sedans and hardtops. Same with the '57-'58 Buick Special/Century and '57-'58 Olds. IIRC, the senior series '55-'56 Mercury pillared sedans used the Ford/Mercury two-door hardtop roof.
  2. Looks like a "lost" Danbury Mint model - beautiful job!
  3. Anyway, this is a '63: And this is what's in the Moebius '65 Belvedere kit: Somebody should cast those '63s - they were used in '64 too.
  4. Unfortunately, they're not really accurate for anything, including the A-100 - they shouldn't have the flat depression in the center.
  5. I agree with Paul: Maybe take the Moebius '65 Belvedere caps and file the ribbed area smooth - then start casting them and you'll corner the market!
  6. OK, I measured the wheelbase and it comes out to right around 87mm, which is sure close to 1/25 scale (the real car has an 87" wheelbase). These cars were tiny...
  7. Don't feel bad, Snake - the only thing from my list that's finished is the '64 Caddy vert promo. The '62 Impala has been painted and cleared (it's been curing about 6 months). The '64 Coupe deVille has progressed - bodywork done, painted, cleared and the vinyl roof done (thanks to Tom P. for doing the paint and roof - I'm watching and learning) and the interior converted from bucket seat convertible to bench seat coupe standard. And of course I've added several more projects since...
  8. I admit to speculating on these kits 35-40 years ago when the rumor surfaced that the plant or their warehouse had burned down and they were out of business; eventually I sold about a dozen USA Oldies kits for a nice profit and kept a few to build. Hope someday someone will repop the correct interiors for the '62 Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth in resin.
  9. The Lake Michigan Model Car Club had an auction at this month's meeting yesterday; I picked up some lonely orphans: The Lindberg Vettes (two in the box) are missing body sides and wheels, so if anyone needs what's left, shoot me a PM. I think the '48 Ford is first issue; it comes with its own display case. The Premier Ford Anglia 100E (or as they labeled it, "English Ford") is all there; now to start fixing all the mistakes on the wheel and window openings and find some interesting way to finish it (Gasser is a bit obvious...). Also need to do some measuring and figure out how close to 1/25 scale it really is.
  10. You wouldn’t happen to have a 390 would ya??? From the Mac's Auto Parts catalog:
  11. VERY cool! Never thought I'd say that about a garbage truck !
  12. I wouldn't mind seeing it come back, as it was a nicely engineered kit to begin with. The only real issue it has is the frame molded into the floor/fenders, but that obviously didn't stop Tim and Dennis from doing some sharp work on theirs! I have one unbuilt that I'm undecided whether to build stock (including the over-restored chrome wire wheels) or fifties street rod (steelies, rubber rake, early V-8, done). Hope Round2 can do something with what's left. ETA: And kudos to Tim for using my license plates.
  13. The '59 Galaxie arrived today and it looks very good - no glue on the glass and the custom grille bar popped off easily. Odd thing is that it has wide whitewalls that appear to be '61 vinyl promo tires; I thought all the Jr. Series snap kits had narrow whites. Has anyone seen any others with WWW tires?
  14. Barely remember the original issue; I built (and later dismantled) the street rod from the Early Iron series. Currently got an original issue builtup stock kit (molded in tan and black). The original kit's hot rod version kinda cheated on the rolling stock: they just swapped out a set of very large cone wheelcovers for the stock outer rims. It really should have had some sort of 16" rims and tires.
  15. Yes, since my dad built them way back when (and I don't happen to have a '27 touring in my collection). I've always been a fan of Tex Smith from his articles in R&C and Rod Action I used to read as a kid.
  16. Tim, just in case you don't want your personal email on it (delete the previous image):
  17. I guess that means you're redoing the hinges to remove the cutouts in the rear panel? Always wondered why Revell got that detail wrong.
  18. How did he put a nail through a 78 without it shattering?
  19. I picked up one of the first issues of this kit around 2000 or thereabouts; what caught my eye first was the shape of the cowl and windshield being too flat. IIRC, there were some writeups in either Scale Auto or Model Car Journal about the problem - or I might have had a phone chat with Dennis Doty; not sure. I ended up buying a Jo-Han '64 Dodge for the cowl and windshield, but I got rid of both before doing anything with them. I frankly expected Lindberg to fix the problems with it - after all, they retooled their '61 Impala to fix its many issues - but they never did. I guess if I really wanted to bother, I'd put a roof from the Jo-Han '63 Plymouth on the Jo-Han '64 Dodge, scratchbuild the B-pillars and window frames, and use the guts from the Lindberg '64 Dodge.
