  1. Renault Dauphine - and IIRC, they were for a brief time the second most popular import in the U.S. after the VW, but they had a dismal survival rate. And naturally, the Hubley kit of the Renault goes for fairly big bucks today. (Still need a rear bumper for mine.)
  2. Now there's a potential Movie/TV Cars build!
  3. The guy who sold it can vouch for that .
  4. You got 'em - PM me your address. Been hoping to return the favor for the '62 Grand Prix grilles I got from you!
  5. If you want to try that, I have a '32 3-window diecast body I got in a parts bag - you're welcome to it.
  6. Hi Steve, Will you be using the stock wheels on this one? If so I've been casting the hubcaps; let me know if you need a set.
  7. A few images I've picked up on the net.
  8. Don't know when this started, but the staff at HL now offers me the 40% coupon back to use again after I make a purchase. The coupons I have now are also good until June 30, rather than week-to-week.
  9. Another suggestion: Use Bondic to cast the emblems; it's cured with UV light and it's a liquid so it flows into the mold very well. I've used it for a lot of small parts, and like SfanGoch I used it to make Caddy emblems (copied the one-year-only '70 "Coupe deVille" emblems for my '64).
  10. Nice pair! I have a '63 Falcon promo I'm restoring as well. Got the Comet dunked in the purple pond yesterday; the paint came off, mostly - but there's some fine lacquer check and residue. Now it's soaking in 91% iso alcohol to see if the remainder can be dislodged.
  11. The '63 Comet convertible and '61 Falcon arrived today; happily the Comet's driver wasn't glued in. Now to correct the nose-high stance, fill a few gaps around the grille ends, and cut the headlight bezels at an angle to match the 1/1: The wheels may be beyond hope from tire melt; maybe now I have an excuse to chrome those 13" steelies from the Revell Bronco kit - they fit the AMT compact tires. The Falcon is better than I expected; no glue holding the glass and the body appears to be unpainted plastic with a coat of clear. Good trading material!
  12. Thanks, mchook! OK, I'll give this a qualified . Still means more trash to wade through.
  13. Anyone else notice that in the last couple weeks, eBay has stopped displaying full-page completed listings, and instead shows a "related" current item? Thanks a lot, guys. Just now I was bidding on a '60 Chevy pickup (got outbid - if somebody here won it, congrats) and the instant the auction ended, the page switched - by itself - to show an el-warpo '60 Chevy wagon promo (yeah, no thanks ). The completed listings were a great source of photos and other info; guess it was too good to last.
  14. Once again, had to get two to get one, but still a real good deal: Been wanting one of these '63 Comet convertibles for a long time but the prices have been jumping up lately; last unbuilt one on eBay sold for $174.99 - last one before that had a broken windshield frame and was missing the wheels/tires/axles and front seats and still sold for $43.50. This one has the usual tire melt on the wheelcovers, and hopefully I can pry the driver's butt off the front seat without much damage . The '61 Falcon is one of the cleanest builtups I've ever seen; I may flip it (I already have two '61 projects going), or I'd trade it for a good builder '66-'69 Falcon...
  15. "Uh... I don't have it finished yet, man." "Well, then, read what you have, young man." It's the '64 Coupe deVille from the chase scene through Chicago's Navy Pier in Cooley High: Got a ways to go yet, but it's getting there. If you're familiar with the Jo-Han kit, you'll spot all the mods to the hood and interior.
  16. I thought my '56 Olds seemed different from the others - that must be why. The ABS ones seem to have a glossier finish than the styrene ones.
  17. Might keep the cat from shedding so much...
  18. Hope the folks at Greenlight are listening - a '70s Country Squire would seem to be right up their alley, and if they did it with the quality of their Dodge Monaco or the two trailers, you could leave it as is or detail it out. How much cheaper is it to produce a good (Greenlight quality) 1/25 diecast as opposed to a 1/25 plastic kit?
  19. I picked up a Reynolds vacuum sealer a few months ago and I'm experimenting with using a small Tupperware container as a mini-vacuum chamber for getting bubbles out of freshly-poured resin parts. I've had some success, at least, considering the valve is a pinhole in the lid sealed with duct tape. Maybe I'll try that FoodSaver container next, if they're cheap.
  20. I shot this restored Texaco station in 2006 (out the back window of a speeding car; the driver was in a hurry); only thing is I'm not sure exactly where. Best I can recall is it was south of Chattanooga in the NW tip of Georgia or maybe the NE tip of Alabama: This little Texaco station in Paducah, KY has been restored as an office: And this one (same town) hasn't been, yet: I used to pass by this house in Baldwin Park, CA a lot and I think it must have been a gas station at some point: And finally Ronnie's Automotive Service, the old station at 2012 N. Lake Ave. in Altadena, CA as it looked in 1983: Featuring my beloved old '62 Imperial (that's where the avatar comes from).
  21. Bill, let me try a little experiment: I'm finally at the point where I can paint the chassis, and do the slight overspray of the Green Hornets color. Rustoleum Red Oxide Primer was used, and while it's not exactly like the 1:1, I used this as more than likely, this is how the original California Special (which this car was originally) would have rolled off the line back in '68. The color I'll be using will end up being a custom mix of green, black, and some gold pearl powder that I've had for quite some time. In this case, I used Testor enamels airbrushed to do this overspray. When it comes time to paint the body, I'm going to hunt down a can of Krylon Hunter Green with the gold powder mixed in. For the topcoat, I'll be using a sort of green dye mixed in clear to give the metallic some depth, so you're not seeing gold flakes sitting on top of paint. A little experimentation will go a long way, so I'll be trying this concoction out on a junk body. I don't want ANY surprises when I get to this point! * * * * * * * * Seems to work? Maybe to be on the safe side, try writing your captions as a Word doc, and then copy-and-paste as plain text here so you don't lose the work if the forum barfs up again.
  22. Also good if you want to build "Jill": Although per the script, they're Goodyear E78-14s, but good luck finding those in 1/25.
  23. I'd use wheels/sombreros/tires from the Revell custom Merc, or Caddy wires from a Welly diecast Eldo.
  24. The JADA diecast '47 would be a start.
  25. No, you're fine - banning is this message:
