  1. Frankly I miss the seller "floyd426rt" a lot more.
  2. Trying to limit myself to the '64 Caddy and '58 Ford right now. If anyone else is building a '64, widening the track 5/16" is a big help with the stance... Ford's about ready for final assembly of the chassis.
  3. The formal roof curbside hardtop - last seen as the Styline reissue of a few years ago.
  4. Not gray - silver! Say what you like about the Flower Power series, the bottom line was it meant one last precious run of the '60 Merc, Pontiac and T-bird went through the molds for us to enjoy in the future (see also: '63 T-bird and '66 Skylark in the "Baja" series, and the '65 Olds 88 in the "Hijacker" series).
  5. Looking good! What's the length and width of your trailer? I wonder how it compares in size to the 1/24 Greenlights diecast.
  6. Spotted three today in Northbrook: Sweet black '58 Coupe deVille at a body shop on Techny Road, a cleanly built fenderless maroon '29 A roadster turning north on Milwaukee Road, and a '76 Eldorado vert heading south on Pfingsten near Willow.
  7. In progress: Dodge A-100 front end (lines right up with the Ford frame and gives poseable wheels) and '57 Ford 9-inch on '56 Ford rear springs (more arched) with extended shackles.
  8. Why not? Promote it as a "Stephen Guthmiller build" with your excellent photos (very important), start with a low opening bid like $50 or $100 (even more important!) with a sub-$500 reserve if you like, and let the bids roll in. Quality sells itself. ETA: Probably skip the Buy it Now option - those high prices tend to scare off bidders from what I've seen.
  9. Wow. Did Moebius have access to your friend's cars?
  10. My foot won't be loud enough, or make the pieces fly far enough.
  11. Won a Revell Cobra 427S/C at the LMMCC meeting raffle last evening - interesting but probably trading material; also got a '66 Skylark Modified Stocker fairly reasonable on eBay - reliving one of my childhood builds (except I won't spray it with hot lacquer and craze the he out of the body this time). The '69 Chevy wire wheels came in as well; little jewels - should be working on casting them soon.
  12. Well, now I'm interested: If I can use this to begin backdating the Revell kit to a '73...
  13. Beautiful! I grew up reading about this car as it was built. Just needs one more detail: So here you go!
  14. Guess what? http://www.fireballmodels.info/images/FMR-148 lg.JPG
  15. Here they are, if you can't open the file: (And if anyone has a '71-74 parts car, I could use the headlights for my '65 Oldsmobile Jetstar conversion! )
  16. Ad from the 1958 Galena Park, TX high school yearbook: I guess this was for carrying pipe or long ladders?
  17. Wonder if the chassis (which was sourced from a British Jowett Jupiter) would be useful for re-creating one of those homebuilt sports cars that were popular in the Fifties?
  18. That was the one that blew up; the rollover stunt car was a 2-door post. It had an Olds rear end with those distinctive wheels that nobody makes in scale (hint hint Chief Joseph...) Stunt car: Burn car: My car:
  19. The one time I tackled this kit, it was in the late '70s and I put a ton of work into kitbashing it with an AMT Nomad to build Bob Falfa's "'very wicked" '55 Chevy; got it about 3/4 done. The body panels fit together fairly well. Maybe I should finish it as the stunt car that was rolled...
  20. ^^^The idea was to make it look like a Buick, if you're referring to the fadeaway fenders.
  21. Per JohnG at Round2, they can't find the interior or chassis molds. http://www.collectormodel.com/round2-models/2224-whats-a-hanger-shot/ (Comment #43)
  22. Just got these sharp wire wheels; they were custom parts from the AMT '69 Impala but had previously been offered in the '67 and '68 Continentals: I'll try to cast them up in resin; we'll see how it goes.
  23. For me, El Matador is OK but not a huge favorite. The Aztec: they did everything but section it, which was the one thing it really needed. Dream Truck: Agree to disagree? To me it flows very well; maybe you'd like it better in a solid color without the scallops? (And while we're at it, what do you think of the Hirohata Mercury?)
  24. Checked the Schaumburg store today and they still had several of the sale kits; picked up a 99-cent bottle of Testors semi-gloss tan and a can of metallic black for a buck fifty-seven.
