  1. Big improvement - and x2 on the headlights (did Missing Link ever do the original headlights/bumper, to go with their '65 GTO promo body?).
  2. Here's a genuine PCE plate I found online somewhere, well over 499:
  3. Hope you don't mind one correction on this sheet, NJ - the Charger's license number was 571 CUG: You can use these if you want (the one with the registration sticker goes on the rear): Hope this helps!
  4. Looking at this photo, I'm very strongly reminded of Philip Harkins' novel Road Race: Story of a young hot-rodder who builds a '30 Model A roadster. He gets into a scrape with the law and is taken under the wing of a race driver who has a Duesenberg special. There's even a description of his rod that mentioned he "moved the body back and down, and the radiator forward and down" which sure looks like the case here. I wonder if Harkins knew these people, or just saw the photo and used it as inspiration for the novel? Anyone else remember this book?
  5. Tom P. was casting up some parts, and was kind enough to give me a complete AMT '62 Falcon display engine fresh from the mold, and also the optional supercharger setup.
  6. Went to Vernon Hills today and saw several gaps on the shelves; I was hoping for the '53 Ford pickup to be discounted but it wasn't. They still have both versions of the '76 Torino, the Porsche 914, and the Datsun Z. I did finally get a lighted X-Acto knife for $3.67 and a miter box for $1.97. Saw the Paasche airbrushes and was tempted; but I already have an Iwata Neo. If I did get another airbrush I'd want a gravity feed; they had that version of the Neo there but it was $49.95.
  7. Big time '70s flashback! Gotta try that kit again someday.
  8. And how 'bout jazz singer Teri Thornton's languid vocal version? One of my favorites: When I moved to L.A. in 1981, 66 had been almost completely bypassed except for one short stretch in Texas, so I can at least say I to spend a little time on the Mother Road. Of course after I got to L.A. I burned a lot of fuel on its western end - Santa Monica Boulevard - but that's another story.
  9. Do they have the refills?
  10. I think that's a '38 Lincoln Zephyr with a shortened grille.
  11. Hudson, Holden and Opel Commodore. In a somewhat related vein, I remember seeing a Buick dealer newspaper ad with the abridged headings " '86 Hawk" and " '86 Lark" - for a moment it looked like Studebaker was back in business!
  12. I'd like to see what you could do with a '62-'65 Fairlane!
  13. Any '53 Ford pickups on special?
  14. Yep! Of course, AMT had a little trouble with it: Either the door's a bit short or the quarter window is a bit long, or a little of both. They fixed it on the '63.
  15. Note the fine print: the Falcon's a promo. Looks like both boxes could have been shrink-wrapped or taped together to make a two-fer.
  16. Oh yes there was, sort of: The ITC kit. Looks like the grille and taillights on Tom's kit may have been copied/sourced from it, but he'll still need the dash and hubcaps.
  17. With that lineup of cars, Jayne Mansfield or Batman or Bozo the Clown could have been standing behind that counter and I wouldn't have noticed...
  18. Five '61-'65 Continentals, five '60-'64 Falcons, three '61-'64 Comets, two '65 Oldsmobiles and a partridge in a pear tree...
  19. Oh yes, I hit the areas with a coarse sanding stick first to give the resin something to bite into.
  20. I tried the white Smooth-On resin and it worked pretty well, except that both bottles needed to be shaken before use. This gave me a lot of problems with bubbles forming once mixed, and I don't have a pressure pot, so I switched to the Alumilite slow set. So far I have less bubble trouble.
  21. The other day, I filled the cutout areas under the hood of my '61 Tempest with Bondic UV resin and cured it for about 15 minutes. Hasn't affected the top side of the hood. Yet. If I live to regret that idea I'll let you know right away!
  22. So you could convert it into a Cimmaron, right?
  23. A couple from my childhood favorite - Klipper's in Glenview, IL (formerly a Crosley dealer!):
  24. My BFF grew up in Metuchen, NJ. While Googling info on his family's Chinese restaurant, I found this shot: (image from Metuchen-Edison Historical Society) The owner (second from right) had just won all this stuff in a photo contest, including a shiny new yellow '60 Studebaker Lark.
