I've seen only one in person - the GTO kit when it was new (at a hobby shop in St. Louis, IIRC). Didn't these have thin rubber tires that fit over the plastic wheels? You could replace them with sections cut from a bicycle tire inner tube.

Oh, I'm sure it's possible - hopefully a good polishing will clear that up.

I heard this '66 Fairlane promo sing a chorus of "Rescue Me", so I did: Cheap, luckily. Now to figure out how to get the black paint and decals off without damaging the red stripes... Straighten the cockeyed backup light, realign the grille, Molotow the worn spots, polish and done.

Hmm. Well, the '68 issue was MPC, and the instructions don't show the chassis in detail, so... Eh - my '67's getting duals, glasspacks and a 427 anyway.

Were the dual exhausts added to the chassis for '69, or earlier? My '67 has a single. Notice that the two mufflers don't match each other - someone was in a hurry...

Well, I've built so many AMT '57 Fords over the decades, I just have to say my favorite kit is... Gotcha! Had a brown one when I was 5; have two beige ones now. Just neat little wagons; AMT did an excellent job molding them - wouldn't mind having a dozen.

Hmm. Something looks familiar... Oh yeah. Kitbashers: Lay out your Evergreen plastic, sharpen your knives, and... GO!

I know, because I have one and all the old Johan parts fit it exactly! Even has same tooling marks inside it. At least we know this Johan tool still exists. We should ask Round 2 to restore this classic kit." Never heard about this. What's more likely: Lindberg actually got the Jo-Han body mold somehow, or they cloned an original kit body right down to the tool marks?

All over! The H.A.M.B. is one of the best, especially the "Vintage shots from days gone by" thread (all 5000-some pages of it). I like finding really obscure ideas, like this one: This was on eBay; I passed because of the usual warp (sold for about $30) - but I saved the photos and did some Googling. Turns out Eddie's was a pretty swingin' joint in the '50s-''60s, and I guess some sign painter did this to show how he could letter the gofer-wagon. I'd like to recreate this one, maybe on a Flintstone Country Sedan.

That Ideal Continental is a real beaut! Now I know what Memory Lane Models mastered their repro promo from - they both have that odd quirk of the hood ornament being located almost a scale foot too far back.

Rick, I had no idea people raced these cars! Do you have any photos of the track and the other racers? Are any modifications allowed, and are there any speed secrets you'd care to share?
