That interior was an eBay find; unfortunately I was outbid for the dash in another auction. I'm doing my usual Frankenstein bit - Rat Packer body/glass/bumpers; lower rear quarters, chassis, dash and engine compartment from a gluebomb '62 convertible; NOS 327 engine from a '63 Nova and '65 Craftsman interior bucket from eBay; Modelhaus stock hood; and wheels/tires either stock SS from the Trumpeter kit or deep chrome reverses from the original issue of the Deora. Tom Piagari molded and cast the tail and backup lights in red and clear resin for me (thanks as always!). Bit by bit...

Eh - maybe. Seems like the folks at Revell are all too happy to do a better job and tell AMT/Round2 to suck it!

Shot of the interior, note the console and upholstery pattern: Seats are molded in: Dashboards from '62 (white) and '65 (blue); note the three-dial cluster on the '65:

What are YOUR regrets ?

Buying a Jo-Han '66 Chrysler convertible for 50 cents, building it, and reselling it for $9.00 (yes, this was in the '70s). -

Wonder how well the kart will fit in the current AMT '60 Chevy pickup? The original '63 Apache was a long bed; Round2 would have to retool the '60 bed and chassis to match it (fat chance! ). -
Would it bother you?

From most of what I've built so far - I'd bust out laughing. -
Modelhaus Inventory Sale!!!!

OK, that's only six... hundred... fifty...three... more to go. -
Decades ago I bought and built an original issue kit; I did a competent if uninspired job: The trim and emblems responded nicely to foiling, and the parts fit didn't give me fits. Only thing I'd modify now would be to cast those molded-in front parking lights and headlights in clear resin. This and the '62 are my favorite Mercs; would love to get a 1/1 someday.

Terrific, Snake! What was your order number? Mine's 24963. -
Threw out a lowball Buy it Now offer and got a full set of chrome from the '65 Riviera kit: Love those sweet wire wheels; plus the slotted wheels are just the ticket for the Surf Woody to replace the incorrect pebble-finished ones in that kit.

AMT All Stars '32 Ford question
ChrisBcritter replied to ChrisBcritter's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Hi Casey! I bit the bullet and picked one up a while back. As for that body issue, guess what? Yep - sectioned at the front just like all the 1/25 AMT Deuces. Now I really wonder if there was a stillborn 3-window in the Trophy Series... Art A. or Tim B. - any comment? -
Thank Goodness!!

Another I like is the Clenet Series I; it had pretty good long-nosed proportions plus it got a memorable workout in one of my favorite movies, S.O.B.: -

Picked up the interior from the Foose FD-100 for the eventual mashup with the AMT '53 Ford pickup. Also got some original AMT '60 Pontiac wheelcovers in a trade here (thanks Wick!); I'll be molding and casting them up soon.

I do like the earlier Blackhawks; if you wanted to build one you'd probably have to mashup the Renwal Stutz from the cowl back with the front clip from the Renwal Duesenberg. Chassis could be a stretched AMT Monte Carlo unit (close enough unless you have a gluebomb Grand Prix). And yep, they were popular with the celebs: -
Thanks Mike!

Hmm. 1/20 scale... I wonder if the trailer could be adapted to the Lindberg Century Coronado? That's a 21-footer in 1/25 scale, which means it should be a hair over 10" long. You'd need smaller wheels and a double axle setup, but I have those parts from the Fireball 500 trailer. If anyone has this kit (old or new) could you please tell me the trailer's overall width? ETA: anyone else notice something odd about the box art... where's the skipper?
