  4. Yes, the Chevy was white with a red interior and today would be considered a viable project if you found it in a junkyard.
  5. I'm forwarding this thread to a friend on the board who has had a lot of success casting clear red resin taillights; hopefully he'll chime in with advice (he did the tail and backup lights for my '65 Nova and '65 Belvedere projects).

  7. First one I built was when I was 7 back in '67; it was the '65 Chevelle funny car brush-painted black. I used the shock absorbers to decorate the grille... Also tackled the "Unreal" Edsel funny car not long after.
  8. OK, I'll play. Here's a batch from my personal collection, taken by me and my dad around Glenview in the early '70s: My brothers and me. I still have that Plymouth's wheelcover, and the speedometer from the '61 Mercury... These were given to me by a classmate in junior high; she said she got them from this "weird guy" neighbor of hers - again, Chicago/Glenview area: I shot this '53 Stude in Paducah, KY in '75: And finally, this was at my high school a few years before I attended:
  9. Some guys with '61-'63 Continentals have swapped from 14" to 15" wheels with '64-up wheel covers due to the difficulty of finding the wide 14" tires; I did some junkyard scrounging for wheels/covers for a friend's '63 so he could keep it on the road.

  14. Have any resin outfits done a panel truck conversion for the '40, using the Monogram pickup as a donor?
  15. Heads up! I just checked the Modelhaus site and it looks like they still have some promo wheels for the '66 Caddy; grab 'em while you can! They're all you need to bring this back to stock on the exterior. One other thing: I built their '65 Impala back in the '80s and those whitewall inserts started melting in the tires very quickly; you may want to copy them in resin.

  19. Wouldn't ya know it - I passed on a builtup '64 El Camino at Model Empire's sale because the bumpers were damaged - and now the front's in stock. Oh well - got a set of '59 Imperial promo wheels anyway. Now to bookmark the tire site...
  20. I have a friend up in Paradise named Larry Ladwig who was an old-time mechanic (worked with Andy Granatelli's Studebaker crew at Bonneville) and car detailer; he's in his late seventies now - still trying to find out if he got out OK.
  21. Tie: Revell Dodge Charger SRT-8 and Shelby Cobra 427 S/C won at club raffles. Good kits I'm sure, just not the stuff I build.
  22. Some killer builds in there! What's going on in photo #127 with the firemen pushing the Shelby? ETA: Never mind, found the article on Jalopnik.
  23. I've always had the idea to use the Orange Crate body on the AMT Show 'n' Go chassis and use the stock body for something else; I take it door alignment is an issue with the Crate? Do the hinges work OK?
