Dragster front wheels
ChrisBcritter replied to Bilingham's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Hmm. What's the diameter of the 1/16 wheels with the tires? I'm thinking those might be just the ticket for a 1/25 scale Model T speedster. EDIT - Sorry, should have checked your site. 1.44" might be a bit too big for that. -
If nothing more, the FD-100 can be used to convert the AMT '53 Ford F-100 into a good '56.

Too bad the proposed '57 Ranchero didn't make the cut; I know it was a dead issue before but I was hoping for a miracle... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -

Noticed last night that the Sunday Chicago Tribune did not carry the HL ad it usually does on the back of the Life & Style section (after I tossed the rest in the recycle barrel and put the barrel out). Did anyone else spot it in the Trib?

Not correct for a 300H, to be specific. And they're too flat for the non-letter 300. The Revell ones from the Newport convertible are much better. ETA: Should have mentioned the letter cars had 15" wheels - the rest had 14" with the standard wheelcovers. -

Sweet! My dad's favorite car since he saw one on the streets of Paducah, KY 71 years ago. That kit is kind of an anomaly for AMT. I wonder if they had any other 1/12 classics planned?

Darryl Starbird put a set on this '56 Crown Victoria, "The Majestic", that looked pretty nice - the installation was written up in the November, 1968 Rod & Custom. https://www.customcarchronicle.com/custom-cars/traveled-starbird-custom/ -

Chris, do you think you'll be doing any other Meteor grilles? I could use a '59 insert for my Ranchero... And just maybe a correct '46 Chevy grille for the Galaxie Ltd. kits? -
Beautiful work as always, Tulio! Be careful with the tires - the ones in my kit started melting the whitewall inserts very quickly (going to cast the inserts in resin when I get back to it).

The '66 Fairlane promo came today; no real bad surprises - going to dismantle it tonight and do some very careful stripping and thorough cleaning before restoring it. This will be the fourth promo I've restored lately - nice break from the rabbit holes I get into with the regular builds!

In the high-end classic world, there's no such thing as "lost" - there's only "hasn't been recreated yet."

My personal favorite: the red '64 from the Rivieras' album cover. Even made the plates for it: Maybe Missing Link could do a transkit? Did AMT use the same interior as the '64 in '65? -
SOME CURRENT ROUND 2 INFO TODAY...

The kid said it was a two-kit combo - he just didn't mention which two kits . Gotta buy a Pyro, Aurora, or Lindberg hot rod for the rest of those bits, which is why the Kat looks a bit skeptical... -

I've seen only one in person - the GTO kit when it was new (at a hobby shop in St. Louis, IIRC). Didn't these have thin rubber tires that fit over the plastic wheels? You could replace them with sections cut from a bicycle tire inner tube. -
Oh, I'm sure it's possible - hopefully a good polishing will clear that up.

I heard this '66 Fairlane promo sing a chorus of "Rescue Me", so I did: Cheap, luckily. Now to figure out how to get the black paint and decals off without damaging the red stripes... Straighten the cockeyed backup light, realign the grille, Molotow the worn spots, polish and done.

Favorite kits
ChrisBcritter replied to THORDOOR220's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, I've built so many AMT '57 Fords over the decades, I just have to say my favorite kit is... Gotcha! Had a brown one when I was 5; have two beige ones now. Just neat little wagons; AMT did an excellent job molding them - wouldn't mind having a dozen. -
