  1. I thought hipsters were into vinyl records now?
  2. As I've said before: Caught those cats napping! Low opening price, mine was the first and only bid - no one sniped me this time: AMT Craftsman '59 Galaxie with few issues; should clean up nicely. Maybe a mild custom, lowered, with tube grille, lake pipes and '60 Ford dog dishes on chrome reverses, or those Car Craft Dream Rod T-bird wires I've been casting?
  3. That makes two of us! The only rice rocket I ever owned: Got it at an estate auction in 2000 for $2400 (only 44k miles) and soon flipped it to some kid from Long Beach. Made a few hundred on the deal but still kick myself for letting it go. Man, when that turbo kicked in...
  4. Would the trash body be usable as a conversion for a 1/32 or 1/35 scale truck body/chassis?
  5. Got the Century Coronado boat today at HL - now to convert a Rambler Marlin V8 to a Gray Marine engine, and modify a '63 Ford pickup steering wheel to look like a '58 Lincoln unit, and build a trailer...
  6. Brenda Lee's "I'm Sorry" was #1 on the Billboard charts when I was born.
  7. Robert, here are the missing photos: Hope this helps.
  8. Al, I know someone who has cast the ''63 Fury turn signals in clear resin - shall I check and see if he has a set? Of course you'd have to use foil or a Molotow chrome pen for the bezels.
  9. I do like the chopped and sectioned '50 Olds built for James L. Price: https://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?title=James_L._Price's_1950_Oldsmobile Would be a nice conversion for the Revell '50 Olds kit, which nearly brings this thread back on topic! So no news today?
  10. Have to give Revell an E for effort (if not execution) on these; at least this way the shapes of the doors matched the body perfectly - an improvement over the Tri-Fives. The sedan had some door jamb area attached to the inner quarter panels, but I don't think the sedan delivery did?
  11. And Hermann gave nearly every car he redid the same rear treatment - cribbed from the GM LeSabre show car. https://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?title=Spohn_Coachworks Loses something in the translation on the '50 Chrysler sedan...
  12. Love the SC/Cross Country - surprised it hasn't been done from the Jo-Han kit by someone here! ...two more than were necessary?
  13. A Henry J that's not a gasser - more like an "oater":
  14. There's a 1/1 conversion kit called Velorossa (and a similar one from Thunder Ranch) for the Datsun 240Z that dresses it up like a Ferrari GTO; maybe combine it with the Revell Z?
  15. My best guess so far would be to take a Lincoln Futura wheelcover, smooth down the center so it isn't "stepped" and blends into the base, and then fit it into a rim so the angled edge can be cut. Then you'll need a drill press with three sizes of fine bits...
  16. How about New Coke Delorean?
  17. Havana Nights series? Cool - maybe they'll bring back the Ché Riviera next!
  18. Been there done that too, on a '64 promo vert I restored and the '64 Coupe deVille I'm working on now. I drilled a hole in the broken-off area with (IIRC) a #72 bit, did the same on a larger chunk of plastic, inserted a short piece of a straight pin with a drop of CA on each end and stuck them together with a dab of liquid cement to weld it, then carved the tip down to match. Turned out pretty nice. Trivia tidbit: The '70 Caddy (promo and kit) is the only Jo-Han Coupe deVille that isn't missing the word "Coupe" in the quarter panel script; '63-'69 all only have "deVille". Tom P. made a rubber mold from his '70 kit so I could cast up a couple sets with UV resin for my '64.
  19. Early issue. From a current listing on eBay: Car's listed as a '68 but the rear bumper says '69.
  20. Well, I chickened out - after the purple pond got the orange paint and primer off, there was residue of the AMT finish left that I ended up scrubbing off with 91% iso alcohol. Once I did that, the plastic was so clean and shiny that I decided to quit while I was ahead! If nothing more, at least now we know AMT must have used some kind of tinted clear metallic lacquer on their promos. Once I get the missing hood ornament and taillight replaced I'll post a photo. In the meantime I'll try the pearl on something else...
  21. Good finds! How much were they discounted for the going-out-of-business sale?
