  1. Great job on both little Porsches! Did you use '58 Impala taillights on the 356?
  2. Now? I remember reading about what an outrage it was that you had to pull the front wheels off to get at the rear plugs in a big-block Cougar. Fifty years ago.
  3. They look fine to me - if you can't see them, here you go (I took screenshots and directly uploaded them here):
  4. eBay, from one of the usual sources. I ought to start casting all these parts I buy and reselling the originals! That said, it's about time I tried a two-piece mold - let's see if I can do you a copy.
  5. Just got a '65 Falcon hood for my '64 Falcon - because in one of AMT's rare goofs, the '64 kit hood is missing the ridge that runs down the center. Funny thing is they got it right on the '64 promo...
  6. Remember it well - this was where we lived in Glenview: Mom's '56 Chevy 210 out front; Dad's '61 Dodge Dart Seneca was snowbound in the garage... Side view with our neighbors' '65 Ford Custom sedan... Hi Mom! My brother Dan, age 3 (left) and me, age 6½ - our other brother Jared stayed inside since he was only two weeks old and had more sense than we did.
  7. Seriously, what's wrong here? Site was down for over an hour and it still won't let me edit posts. Anyway plans for the '50 convertibles are one full custom and one stock to re-create Barbara Stanwyck's car from the 1953 movie Jeopardy: Later in the film it acquired some dents and bullet holes in the windshield after a chase with the Mexican police. I'm guessing it was light green from the way it looks in black and white.
  8. Picked up a couple '50 Ford convertibles at HL plus some mold rubber (been casting a lot of rare wheels and hubcaps lately), also some Evergreen strip to make vinyl top seams on the Cooley High '64 Caddy.
  9. Or just scatter a few more junk engines around it. Maybe someone has an AMT or Revell '56/'57 Ford car or truck engine they're not using?
  10. ...Who needs Bergdorf, who needs Saks? (Allan Sherman, 1962 ) Just got back from the Deerfield HL and noted these specials; your store may vary: $7.50 each: AMT '50 Ford convertible (bought both of them!) AMT '58 Impala AMT '64 Impala AMT '52 Chevy convertible AMT Der Beetle Bus AMT '15 Camaro AMT/Lindberg '67 Olds 442 MPC '75 Vette Revell '57 Ford Wagon Gasser * * * * * $6.75 each: Revell '80 Ramcharger * * * * * $6.00 each: AMT '10 Challenger Happy hunting!
  11. Yes - Alumilite makes a UV resin that sells for about $20 for a 4-oz. bottle. A UV flashlight will work with it; however I use a small LED UV plug-in light since it tends to cure a little slower than Bondic (it's a bit more viscous). Makes great headlight lenses! Alumilite's resin dye works OK with it for casting taillight lenses but it really slows down the cure time and you have to use thin layers. Bondic may work a little better for those.
  12. Thanks Bill! Question: Can I use enamel on the floor for a slower drying time if I already painted the whole interior bucket ('64 Caddy) with Tamiya lacquer?
  13. Bingo. Chad comes off as a very nice guy, but he's being let down by the crew.
  14. Or a '61/'62 Buick Special wagon...
  15. That looks excellent - and no worries about burying the details under the paint! Got a Monogram '40 Ford pickup I'm doing the same way. One thing I'll have to deal with is smoothing out the roof; the molded pleated headliner seems to have left some slight ridges on the outside.
  16. And then there's when they work on your car and manage to burn down both the car and the shop... right, Tom? (UPDATE - Tom did get a good settlement on the loss of the van from the shop's insurance.)
  17. I think you'd have to get name recognition and a following among collectors - like our forum's Paul Hettick has done - but your work is easily good enough to qualify. And I'd say the same for several other builders here. Maybe not quit engineering but it would be a a nice way to augment one's income.
  18. Never can understand the sellers who put up a high opening bid and expect a sale - better to put a low opening bid and let the market take care of the rest. If you have a never-to-be-produced-again model like a '67 Falcon or a '63 Nova wagon or any Jo-Han full-size Mopar, don't worry - there will be a feeding frenzy. Tulio, I don't see many '40 vert builtups on eBay right now?
  19. Great job - love seeing the damaged ones rescued!
  20. Garry, three numbers/three letters would be blue plates in CA; three letters/three numbers would be black (I lived in SoCal for 32 years and had many of each!) I removed the sticker. Your car probably got those plates around the time you bought it judging by the letter combo; it might have had out-of-state plates before that because black plates (issued '63-'70) weren't usually replaced unless lost or stolen.
  21. Beautiful work, Garry! Might as well add the license plates (save, reduce and print):
  22. On that '57 300, are the custom wheels supposed to be Cadillac Sabres with a bullet in the center? I've never gotten a good look at them.
  23. Does the Revell Roth Road Agent kit have a good fan shroud on its Corvair engine?
  24. OK, but what's my excuse? "It's February... love is in the air and product is in the warehouse!" Always wondered why the kangaroo was giving me that seductive look.
