For any Military Aviation buffs

It wasn't that aircraft; it was their other Kingcobra - the sole surviving P-63F: https://warbirdsnews.com/warbird-restorations/caf-bell-p-63f-kingcobra-re-emerges-in-fresh-livery.html -

Thanks for your service, Dad. He was a weather observer in the USAF during the occupation of Japan postwar; not a pilot but he always loved the P-51: And to several of my uncles in the Army, USAF and Marines; one of whom when folks thank him for his service, responds "Well, thank you for the three-year paid vacation in Germany!" And finally one for the Navy; to my housemate and longtime friend Matt who served during the Vietnam War on the carrier USS Kitty Hawk during the late '60s, whose favorite shipboard task was being the morning DJ for the ship's radio station, KTTY:

While waiting for a pizza at the shopping center here, I checked out the Angel View thrift store and was surprised to spot a black lambskin jacket by Roundtree and Yorke like this one: Even better, it fit - and it was priced at $10.49. Later found out they sell used for around $160 - and new for nearly $400. Oddly, they also had this Pocher Rolls-Royce - first time I've found a model kit there: Apparently complete, and with that $150 price tag, there it can stay. -

Obscenities on this forum are automatically neutered, like when you lay down that last coat of clear and it comes out crackly, and you say "You BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAHing piece of BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH!"

Got that Perry-Kingsley album at the long-gone CHOC thrift store in El Monte, CA about 25 years ago - still one of my favorites. "Visa to the Stars" was a bit more conventional than the rest of the songs, as it had been previously written for a gasoline commercial.

So far the mechanic has it tracked down to a cam sensor; he's busy with my boss's other cars so it will probably be a few months till it's done and ready to pass smog. The detailer and paint guy both did a great job of detailing and color sanding it so it looked good at its first car show in Palm Springs a few weeks ago. -

Didn't know my photo would get that many responses! I took that shot at the Victory Air Museum near Mundelein, IL; and yes, that's a Spanish copy of an Me109 in the background - one of six displayed at the field after being used in the movie Battle of Britain. Google "Earl Reinert Victory Air Museum" for more info on the place. Quick backstory on the half-a-plane: Late WWII Catalina seaplane; later converted to a "flying yacht" and cracked up in Lake Michigan in 1966. Earl bought the salvaged remains and displayed it at the museum until it closed in the mid-80s; then it ended up with the Air Force Museum who saved the side bubble turrets for the PBY they have on display and probably scrapped the rest.

The last of the greatest '50s rockers is gone - he managed to outlive Elvis, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Little Richard, and so many others. Not many left from those days I can think of - Fabian, Frankie Avalon, Dion...

Along those lines: Bulldozer towing a '57 International dump truck towing half of a PBY-6A Catalina (I took this picture back in 1973; Snake should recognize the location ).

Your biggest blunder
ChrisBcritter replied to LL3 Model Worx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
OK let's see. Mid-70s, bought brand-new unbuilt '62 Tempest convertible and '65 Fairlane kits at an Old Town Escorts show. Painted them both (no primer) with Dupli-Color auto lacquer, which introduced me to the term "crazing". Later in the '70s, was building a '61 Olds F-85 wagon into a mid-engined drag racer (blunder #1) with central gull-wing doors (blunder #2) opened up with an Auto-Cutter (blunder #3). Then I attempted to trim a brake rotor with the same tool and absent-mindedly tried to steady the heating element - with my thumb, which introduced me to the term "second degree burn". I lost enthusiasm for the project at that point. -
= The Taking of Beverly Hills. (Matt and Ken were discussing the price of the Rolls Royce Silver Spur they had stolen to escape from the bad guys.) The movie in question (overdubbed in Russian):
