One I got when I was a kid; it was one of those records you cut out from the back of a Post cereal box. It's kid stuff to be sure but I've always liked the piano-driven arrangement; coupled with the brass and strings it has sort of a late '40s-early '50s feel:
Plans (I hesitate to call them "instructions") in Hawk model airplane kits featured a character called Captain Hawk; in one image he was shown saying "You're getting sloppy with that paint" so I splopped some black paint on his face and continued building.
OK - Part of the title was in the title of the last movie that was solved. The director's name suggested anger; he previously directed Cliff Richard, Diana Ross, Michael Caine, and Rodney Dangerfield (not in the same movie!).
He was so funny on Will and Grace - and even more so in Sordid Lives. I met him once in Palm Springs and he was a delight to talk to; I asked him about an obscure WWII TV movie pilot he was in back in the '80s called Road Raiders - his line was "They call me Whip - 'cuz I can whip any man in this outfit!" He told me about how there was a lot of "Bolivian marching powder" being consumed on that production...
Nope - a few years newer than Wall Street. It was set in a well-known American city, which was recreated on the outskirts of Mexico City since so many very valuable buildings were getting blown up and crashed into.
Picked up the MPM Models 1/72 scale DC-2 in Eastern and Pan Am markings today from Hobby Town USA in Deerfield; it was on their shelf for so many years that the ones on eBay are nearly double the price now.
Always liked the lines of this plane, the smaller forerunner to the DC-3.
No takers? OK. More hints: The lead actress got her stage name from her ex-boyfriend's motorcycle. Of the two secondary villains, one has fronted a punk band for the last forty-some years; the other has a name that sounds very English but he's of Tahitian and Native heritage - and also has a motorcycle connection.
Back here in IL for my mom's memorial service yesterday; hit the Deerfield Hobby Town USA and Hobby Lobby and picked up an AMT '55 Chevy sedan at 40% off. Been wanting to build it as a mild custom for a long time.
I did see a fair number of spaces for new kits including the MPC Celica.
