Something I forgot about with the '63 F-100; AMT continued producing the promos until at least 1965 - but the only ones I've seen were plated dealer awards. Looks like the only thing they changed was the year on the bumpers; the '63 grill wasn't updated: Looks like this one got the gold-plated wheelcovers off a '66 Galaxie award promo.

The '61 kit is kind of an oddball - it has a separate roof and separate chrome B-pillars which don't look or fit right, plus the rear wheel openings were carried over from the four-door sedan. It really looks like it was supposed to be a convertible but Chevrolet didn't build a Corvair vert until '62. I ended up building mine as a phantom droptop using a boot from the IMC '48 Ford (it fits perfect).

50th Anniversary this week for me.........

Lucky you!!! Back in 1982 or '83, the L.A. edition of Auto Trader advertised several damaged cars I recognized as being used in The Junkman; I was interested in two Chrysler Cordobas so I called the number and surprisingly, it was Halicki himself who answered. We talked about his films and the cars (one Cordoba had rolled and crushed the roof but the other was only nicked on a rear corner). He offered to show me his collection (for a $10 fee which I'd have gladly paid) down in Carson; never took him up on that and regret it to this day. I did go to his estate auction and bought one lot of model cars; of those I kept a brown metallic '79 El Camino promo. -

Hey Dave, I hunted through a lot of Young Ford ads from February 1975 on the Newspapers site but couldn't find your Mustang. I did find that they had a celebrity visitor at that time; did you go see her? -

Where is Chad with R2 February news?

Would be nice if AMT would engineer the kit so the '59 El Camino chassis would be a drop-in fit. -

Any word yet on the '62 Mopars? -
Hmm. I see yours has blackwall tires while mine has whitewalls. Wonder which was more common?

You got it! Never Steal Anything Small. Hints: Features a huge star from Warner Bros., late in his career; not a big hit for him. Sometimes a good guy and sometimes a bad guy; this role was a good bad guy. = James Cagney Co-stars a future Oscar winner/future TV bus driver. Elmer Gantry/The Partridge Family = Shirley Jones Also stars a future TV detective, playing the same character in three different shows; his career was cut short by MG (the disease, not the car) but his wife (a very big star) stuck by him until his death forty years later. Jeff Spencer/77 Sunset Strip/Surfside 6/Hawaiian Eye/Ann-Margret = Roger Smith The one singing is largely forgotten today but she had gotten a Best Supporting Oscar nomination a year earlier, appearing with Tony Curtis. The Defiant Ones = Cara Williams The movie's title was copied for the title of the theme song from the 1967 movie Catalina Caper (with one word changed). "Never Steal Anything Wet"
