  1. Very nice! The decal work looks excellent, really sets the model off! Funny how a few choice words can make a model fall together!
  2. No problem. .chucks tip was use the existing front mounts , then just bring the rear cab mounts to the new shorter floor! Remove the kit tabs and glue . I used his lonestar day cab post to modify the kit floor pan
  3. Thanks! Tough cutting up 2 good kits to make this build, but everything will be used . Oh...and the paint scheme? Black, silver, and orange...and new for me...TONS of chrome!!
  4. great looking project, looking forward to updates if I may ask..what molding rubber did you use ? Ive been using Alumlite..but always trying something new
  5. another wrecker build!!! When word spread this kit was being discontinued, looks like everyone stocked up!! Looking forward to your build. Thomas , if your cab is seriously messed up, drop me a pm..I have a clean one your welcome to. Jeff
  6. The cab is just sitting on the modified kit floor , working out whether to use the Pete tanks..or the corn binder set without the fairings. All the chrome will be stripped and replaced w Alclad. The kit slam locks are being replaced for a set from Don Mills which look more detailed. Jeff
  7. The holidays were fantastic this year. I must've been good, cause under the tree was the Mobius Lonestar, and the Revell Pete tri axle wrecker !!! I already had the day cab from cargostar in the stash...time to get building !The Lonestar wrecker I envisioned looked better as a daycab, and Dave (cargostar) had the grille. I planned to utilize the front clip from the Lonestar to maintain the cab and hood mounts, and also the front driveline. The Pete frame would provide the frame under the wrecker bed..just the look I was after ! Special thanks to Chuck Most for the advice for the new cab mounts, and a fellow modeler offered a set of 32 Ford headlights .Thanks Steve! Happy modeling!
  8. Thanks Jeff The fulton show is a great place to meet very talented builders, and the main host Gary also has parts to make these models possible. Numerous members here also attend, been fun to put the faces to the names!
  9. Very cool..way to make parts from seemingly useless items! Keep at it, the end of the tunnel is near
  10. That's a tough looking truck Terry! Great idea adding all the gusset and ribs on the boom. Might have to borrow a few of these ideas for my lonestar wrecker!
  11. Excellent build! Love the comment...fermented iron!
  12. No problem! I've received tons of great advice and inspiration from builder here, glad to contribute. Oh..duct tape seems to work the best , and removes easily afterwards. Happy holidays
  13. I was forming odd curved shapes, after trying several times...found a tip in a armor modelers mag. Taping plastic around pvc tubing! Toss it in near boiling water for a few seconds...perfect curves.I also heat formed around a cheap funnel for a particular model chute. Hope this helps
  14. Thanks! The DR is such a good platform to modify. I heard parts of the dump body was originally from the autocar , I'd love to find a reasonable Autocar to build! Happy Holidays
  15. Very nice! The diamond plate and rivet detail shows perfectly
