half a dozen 69 camaro's *new pic's 3-8* all 6 complete!
tbill replied to tbill's topic in WIP: Model Cars
as Oscar said, I was painting or primering something, and it looked sweet, so I kind of tilted it to see if I had good coverage on the rockers, and poof......it came apart and my fresh paint/primer was roof down in my booth........was not happy....... lesson learned, and passed on, lol. still need to take my own advice and 'doctor up' the newest one before I have a repeat performance........ and back to the builds at hand, I should have some new pic's tomorrow at some point, I have 3 more engines set up to run wires and make fuel lines for. stay tuned..... -

they are Tamiya, i bought two of them on-line thru amazon, and i got one at my local hobby lobby. it's a two stand kit, one for holding the body, and another to hold parts. and they are on a 'turn table', makes life much easier. -

wow guys, that's an incredible bunch of builds, everyone! these would all make for one super table at a show for sure. if interested, the 'case' i have the prostar in is from Garry Wallace of GW trucks, i picked it up at the fulton model show, very nice display case. -

Joe, next time I will try that, bit for now, I will stick with my home-brew distributor [which I learned on here somewhere]. here is todays pictures of progress, bits and pieces PE wheel, fire walls painted, fans chassis parts in primer hope to get some done this week with having a few days off for the holidays, stay tuned..... -

thanks guys. did some more unglamorous work today. I got the starters mounted, got the fans painted up, got the accessory drives about done, drilled holes for the heater hoses to go into the intake and water pump, and made and installed the little 'by pass' hoses that go from the water pump to the intake, and finally, I made 6 distributors [ plug wire, part of a paper clip and shrink tube], I do them this way as for the life of me, I cannot drill out the kit supplied ones to get wires in them.....any tips on that would be welcome anyway, doesn't seem like much progress, but with everything multiplied by 6, it chews up some time. hope to have some new pic's to post soon. thanks again for following along...... -
THE Color for Particular Cars?
tbill replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
luxo blue metallic [2014 color], Nassau blue, crystal red metallic tint [2014 color], hugger orange, metallic dark gray [ could pass for 'tungsten', 2015 color], and finally 'green o'clock', another 2014 color. the dark blue, red and green I ordered from work [Chevy dealer] in spray cans, it's actually touch up paint for 1:1 cars. -

New kits with flaws.
tbill replied to Dave Metzner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Dave, great insight into what the 'real deal' is as far as kit production is concerned, for that, I say thanks. I can't imagine the PITA that doing this results in [ idea to complete product]. I have bought several of your products, and must say, they are 'top of the heap', the pro star and '53ft trailer are just dynamite, and I have several others to build [lone star, a few more trailers, and a few Chryslers]. I know a lot of people whine about cost of kits, but to me, if it's a quality product, I will pay the piper. to me, although it's cliché, quality is priceless. I personally can understand the delays, but at the same time understand 'our' clamour to get the newest cool thing. in the grand scheme of things, I am not even a blip on the radar, but I will continue to buy your products, and wait patiently for them, because from what I have seen and built of your product, they are worth the wait, and the money. -

so I fired up the assembly line this morning and got a lot of unglamorous work done. got all the plug wire holes drilled [do the math, 6 motors = a lot of holes....] I got the heater hose holes drilled in the fire walls and got those painted, drilled a battery cable hole in each of the starters and got those painted, have the drive belt/pulley parts 1/2 painted and have the fans 1/2 painted. also finally got the green car sanded/polished and decaled. here are a few pic's of todays progress, with luck, I can get a bunch of little stuff done tomorrow morning, I 'think' I am going to focus on the motors and try to get those wrapped up. 6 at once can get a little overwhelming when having to do everything that many times over at once, but I'll get there -
got a new 2015 Silverado last week, double cab, black on black, absolutely love this thing
