  1. Erik, I am just starting to appreciate the looks of some of the 'Euro' trucks, and I am probably counted as a few of the 141 views early on. upon looking at this again, I can see where you are going with it, and I like it. granted, the overall look is foreign to me, but it is starting to grow on me . looking forward to more updates.
  2. Matt, the clear coat I used is 'U-Pol' clear #1, I got it from the bodyshop that is part of the dealership I work for. I suspect though that testors clear will do the same job. I have found that after 3 coats of clear the shine starts to really develop, so I have been hitting everything with 5-7 coats, it really starts to 'pop' then. Jeff, thanks, much appreciated
  3. thanks all. have tomorrow off, so I will finish it up, and if the suns out, will have some outside 'sunny' pic's to load also, just for kicks I measured the thing, just shy of 3ft long
  4. Larry, holy cow man! that thing is superb! I love that thing, great build! also glad you're feeling better, styrene is a great therapy.
  5. Alan, another awesome build of the Malone fleet, excellent job! now, all that's left is a group photo.....[hint, hint..... ]
  6. Matt, the paint i used is testors one coat lacquer [inca gold] and the clear i used is made for automotive applications, but comes in a spray can. not sure if i mentioned the name of it in an earlier post or not, but if i didn't, i will post the name of it later on.
  7. I fully 'get' both sides of that discussion, but if it were me, I would take out the original drive train [so as not to risk killing numbers matching parts, I.E. putting a hole on the block or something], stuff in an equally powerfull drivetrain, and drive the snot out of it for that kinda money, I AM driving it, and having fun doing so.....
  8. thanks everyone, I am so glad you all like it, and I very much appreciate all the kind words I managed to add some decals tonight, paint on all the lenses is still drying and will need another coat, but, I wanted to post some pic's of the truck and trailer [if the sun ever comes out again, I will take some outside pic's]. so, here we go, I must say, this thing takes up some real estate! way longer than my other truck/trailer combo's
  9. wow that's pretty! great build!
  10. Sean, that is plain old tin foil and 3m spray glue have to add the small decals to the front panel and the clearance lights, and the great dane emblems, then I can hook the truck to it
  11. well, almost there with the trailer, stay tuned, almost all done.......
  12. can't wait to see this done, you've done a great job so far, really looking forward to seeing the 'complete picture'
  13. I suppose maybe I did mis-read the OP intended thought. I just got back into this stuff last September, so prices I have seen have remained the same in that short period of time. although at the same time, some of the kit prices I saw upon re-entering the hobby did shock me to some degree.
  14. I am starting to like these trucks more and more! nicely done, I like that a lot!
  15. thanks trailer should be glued together tomorrow.....I hope...then some little details and the set will be done. hope to have some pic's of the trailer up tomorrow night.
  16. this is looking great! that yellow really pops, great job so far.
  17. well, I can remember a time when someone else paid the light bill, the food bill, the mortgage and the car payment........all I had to buy was the model. now that I am older, I'm the one paying all the bills, so if I gotta pay $25 bucks for a kit that will give me a calgon moment [take me away] a few hours a night for a few weeks, i'm in
  18. double trouble good looking cars!
  19. other than actually getting up to go to work, nothing really bothered me today..........unusual I must say.........
  20. in the 25 years I have been a wrench in GM dealerships, I don't know as if I have ever seen a car NOT have a recall of some sort. biggest problem as of late is getting enough parts to fix the affected vehicles.
  21. that looks sweet! nice color combo with the trailer, well done!
  22. nice looking rig! number 7? wow.....is #8 in the works yet?
  23. nice work so far! looks like a plumbing nightmare keep up the great work
