this is my second truck build
tbill replied to devil19751's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
nice rig, love the color combo and rack, well done. I must say, it looks terrific with the tanker, and the tanker looks great as well, those kit's are tough to build. nice job on both. -
My shot at a Prostar

thanks guys, much appreciated Jim, door decals will be determined by how I do the trailer, still rolling ideas around on that, and thinking of how to incorporate some sort of logo, so time will tell on that. well, I think tomorrow night is going to be the last bit of work to complete this build [as far as the truck itself is concerned], I have the entire cab together now, back wall is detailed and installed with all the fairing braces etc., got the tail lamps painted, exhaust crossover glued on finally, cab door handles BMF'd and painted, prostar door emblem decals on, wipers on, and got the lenses in the visor [man those are some tiny bits!] and decals on the hood. So it looks like tomorrow is going to be final cab fit and glue to chassis, add mirrors and visor, and hope it all looks ok then it will be trailer time, stay tuned, and thanks for following along............. -

welcome to the dark side, lol. I have one of these kits as well, and plan to do a mustang to go with it as pictured on the box art. when that will happen, who knows, but have the kits to do it. so many trucks, so little time.......... -

thanks guys. lawn mowing took priority over model time this evening, but I have 1/2 the glass in it [vent windows and windshield], painted the sleeper windows with tint last night, have to paint the tail lamps in red [did a silver base coat] and need to BMF the bezels around the lights on the rear cab wall, I think after that, it's fit the cab to frame, and finish up the little details [mirrors and what not] then call it done.......stay tuned.......the end is near -

that's a beautiful rusty hulk, nice work! -
I don't have a lot of spare parts yet, but I bought a couple of nut/bolt organisers [the plastic 'tower' kind with the pull out little drawers of different sizes], so far it's helping. if you have a large quantity of 'loose' stuff, might be time for an industrial parts bin

thanks guys Marshall, you know how it is, seems you need to glue about 75 parts on sometimes before things become worthy of a picture I now have the mud flaps on, and decals on the front and rear flaps, got the tank braces on, the torque rods on the diff's, and the stack mounts are painted and drying, underside of hood has been painted flat black, front of cab in appropriate areas is flat black, back side of bumper is painted flat black and all the hinge assemblies are painted/drying. stacks are together as well. next step looks to be glass install, jam the interior 'cube' in it and make a truck out of it all -

Modeling disaster stories?
tbill replied to JPS_Lotus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
pretty funny stuff fellas, amazing the things we do sometimes. in all seriousness I think my biggest modeling disaster was the 20 years that I spent NOT building. I find it amazing how much I really enjoy it. I know I loved it as a kid/teen, and love it now, and upon reflection, I have no idea why I stopped doing it for so long. Sure, life/wife/kids/work happen after the carefree teen years, but heck, you still have hobbies right? Anyway, just so glad I got back into it again, made winter this year bearable, and I have met some cool people thru this plastic addiction, and now that summer is upon us, I won't hate the rainy days so much -
that looks to be a 'pizza pie', lol, can I ask for one of those in the wanted section? not so much hot dog stand, but the dogs themselves, Hoffman hot dogs..............mmmmmmmm good, and the snappy grillers are pretty great too!

Anyone have a how-to on Stretch walls?
tbill replied to Austin T's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
if the tire was hollow to begin with, couldn't you put foam in it, like an R/C car tire? granted, it wouldn't take much of the foam, but you might be able to contour the foam as well to get the look you're after. -
