  1. I like it too! I'm a bit of a swapaholic and this is right down my alley. Well built!
  2. If this or another nonstandard idea is used, I think clarity needs to be part of the instructions. I think the off-road part of this years Cannonball scared some folks off, especially seeing the early starters putting out some models that looked strictly off-road as opposed to multi-purpose. Think of the cars from the Cannonball Run movie. Everything from a Rolls to a Lambo. The course isn't as important as the car (and the strategy)! With my Land Cruiser I focused on (real-life) durability, fuel economy and availability, and survivability. As far as a kit went, I didn't want to do a lot of fab work, thus an SUV. I just hope 2017 has more entrants than 2016, and everyone is realistic about their time. In the meantime, I'm loving the ride!!
  3. Nice job Floyd!!
  4. Very nice job! I love conversions and this is a fine example of one.
  5. Love that tin work! The tires are sweet as well.
  6. Hey Jason, nice work on the body. I think the newer JF bodies might be better than the older ones, and the interior and chassis are great additions! May I ask what steps you took to get the body smoothed? What grit did you start with? Thanks.
  7. Nice build! Takes me back to those days.
  8. Although I've only participated in two runs I feel I must speak out, I'm not a fan of the 50% build. What is 50%, and who determines that? I think it opens a can of worms best left in the ground. I support extending the deadline this year since there was only one finished build, but come on guys - procrastination (or other priorities), not lack of time was the problem. I think going with unlimited should bring enough interest to bring participation back up. Like it was mentioned in a previous reply - if you want a sleeper build, then build one. Like I wanted a vintage run, if I want to enter one I can build one. Personally I don't actually participate to win, I love the back and forth and seeing other builds. There was not a lot of that throughout the year. For what its worth that's my 2 cents (not counting inflation).
  9. Sweet build Randy!!
  10. Nice choices. I can attest to the Land Cruiser as I built the off road version for the Cannonball Run CBP. I was impressed by the fit and quality of the kit.
  11. Welcome Dennis, from Dennis! Lots of muscle cars here!
  12. Nice simple dio! I like it.
  13. Very well done Curt! Clean and neat.
  14. Nice indeed!
  15. Fantastic paint work!! I'm sure you'll get there.
  16. Regarding the Aussieball, I think perhaps folks got confused with the off-road part. Some guys are into off-road so they built what they are familiar with. That's cool, but most of us aren't going to do that. If you look at my Land Cruiser you will see that I did a lot of little fabrication but not the full scale fab work a lot of others did. One could have just as easily used a stock four wheeler as I did and added their own touches. Frankly I'm good with whatever gets folks interested, because that's what it's all about. Right?
  17. Well, I bought their turbo pair a couple of months ago (1/24) and the detail on the flanges is excellent. There are connections for the oil lines and other details that don't require any work at all as far as I can see. Hope that helps.
  18. Nice work Jesse. Hey for my light bar, I just used white glue in the bottom of the channel with a toothpick and then just dropped the "lights" in. Did a short section at a time so the glue wouldn't dry.
  19. Hang in there Harry.
  20. I heard it bandied about but I wasn't aware of a decision. I like a theme myself but understand the desire for folks not wanting limits. Personally I think limits are good. The Sleeperball I guess was unlimited with limits. How about period unlimited? Say 1930's (or 40's or 50's) cars unlimited but using period available hardware. That would be a challenge without limiting imagination.
