  7. Welcome Phil. Hope to learn from you.
  8. Nice work on this build Jim. Fantastic engine detail!
  9. Well, after grinding the wheel wells and then mocking things up I realized that this build isn't going to happen. The vacuformed windshield would not fit with the dash installed. I don't see how this body would ever fit on a styrene kit unless everything was custom built to fit. So I'm changing my entry to the 2006 Camaro Concept. I bought it years ago when I first got back into models and lots of parts are missing including the engine. It will be wide-body as well, but I'm not sure if I'll still go with the V-12, as the XLR front end was longer and I felt it could accommodate the longer engine. I could use the Corvette engine since I'll be using a lot of those parts that would have gone on the XLR. Oh well. That's why I got started early to see if the XLR could be built. I think its going to be in the next 4th of July firecracker demonstration that the local kids give. They'll get a kick out of seeing it blow to pieces. Here's my new kit.
  10. My wife just handed me a chain today! I looked at it and it was the perfect size, with nice links. She earned a big kiss! By all means, check with your partner/spouse!
  11. Hey All. I finally got my 12 cylinder LS engine from Clearly Scale. Here it is washed and getting ready for cleaning up what little excess material remains and squaring things up. Ran into a problem with the body/chassis fit though. Even though the kit is one of those that JF recommends, the wheelbases don't line up. When I eyeballed it without the tires things looked okay, but when I mocked the wheels up things don't look so alright. The wheelbase of the Vette is shorter than that of the off-scale XLR. I'm trying to decide now on trying to alter the wheelbase of the chassis, or adjusting the body. Which makes sense because I'm using flares anyway, I just don't know if it will make it look like an AWB or something. Oh well, press on.
  12. I agree, MH is pretty quick. However I find their prices a little higher than HobbyLinc with freight added, although there are times where they are the only ones that have what I need.
  13. Thanks Derick. Thanks Marty.
  14. Nice plumbing work Erik..and thanks for the lead on the wire! No pun intended.
  15. Nice! And you did this to take a break from another build? Some break!
  16. Nice work Yuri! I love the interior.
  17. Welcome Ash, nice choice!!
  18. Thanks guys. Dave, I'm up the road from you. Well up the interstate anyway.
  19. Bill mentioned the wastegate, which would have plumbing to the actuator to read the boost signal, i.e. when to leak exhaust. Google "turbo wastegate plumbing" and look at the pics. Plenty of stuff showed up for me. Additional plumbing would be the oil lines to the turbo where the diagram shows "oil inlet" and "oil outlet". Nothing special there, just run a couple of lines to an adapter where the oil filter used to be, or research your engine to see if there are other places to use. If you're using a dry sump system you can plumb to that. Beyond that I don't think there's anything else. I'm not an expert though so someone else may have something to add. Take it a system at a time instead of trying to get the whole picture at once, then put it all together. I too have done a lot of research for a twin turbo C-7 I'm planning, good luck
  20. Looks like a nice project Alan!
  21. Welcome back Jim. I'm anxious to see the result. I like the idea.
  22. Fantastic job!!
  23. Thanks Tim. I've never had a problem dealing with Steve, and I'm glad to hear it's nothing serious. If you ordered it, I'm confident that you are covered!
  24. Sweet!
