  1. Those exhausts are quite cheeky! Nice.
  2. Great! The last 2 pictures especially look like a real one!
  3. Great idea Michael. Would it be one car at a time or maybe 5 or so? I'm sure some of the members would have some great candidates, I have some if you want suggestions.
  4. Anyone remember this?: I wanted this so badly when I was a kid. Finally my birthday came around and Mum came through! I loved it, played with it for hours. Happy memories, apologies if its already been posted!
  5. ABS and traction control can't beat the laws of physics. Or stupidity. Keep feeling the road as you drive, maybe touch the brakes or jiggle the steering to see if it all still responds. If you can't stop safely in the distance you can see in front of you, do you: 1) Slow down? 2) Keep on going regardless? Clearly nearly 60 people chose option 2.
  6. I love the period accessories - I'd like to imagine it has leopard-print seat covers too!
  7. Without front wheels those seat belts will sure be needed! Seriously this is a superb piece of work, looks museum quality to me. Can't wait to see it in all its glory - no doubt with those front wheels securely in place!
  8. Yeah, once again the wheels and the stance are outstanding! I like the side pipes too.
  9. One of them did - to quote WikiPedia: 'As further testing of the prototype continued, the reliability of the engines and gearboxes continued to be problematic, but not to the extent that flight testing was prevented.[10] Evaluation of the flying boat continued into 1953, during which particular attention was devoted towards addressing the difficulties uncovered. During the 1953 Farnborough Airshow, the prototype was displayed.[12][10] Flight tests of the prototype continued up until 27 May 1954, by which point it had been found that the Proteus engine, once perfected, would be capable of enabling the type to achieve its envisioned performance figures. G-ALUN was the only model to fly, performing 46 test flights in total during which 100 hours flight hours were accumulated.'. It had no commercial future and BOAC for one bought Comets for their long-haul routes instead. There are surprisingly a few models out there, in 1:350, 1:200. 1:72 and, unbelievably there is apparently a 1:48 version. The last two are 3D printed by One Man Model. I don't know anything about how good they are, or even how available they might be, only seen them on the net. Cheers, -Don.
  10. One Man Model does a 1/72 scale Saunders-Roe Princess that fascinates me. The 1:1 had a 219 foot wingspan and was 148 feet long. So the model has a 3 foot wingspan.
  11. ? I hadn't realised they made it out to Canada. Bless 'em!
  12. Sadly, Tim succumbed to Corona virus on April 12th. I loved the Goodies on UK TV and always enjoyed him in radio comedy in more recent times.
  13. Well the original builder was clearly committed to his madness. Good luck in getting it apart!
  14. And Tom doesn't know either. Great model. Maybe just the Italian flair for design? With a bit of downforce under throttle.
  15. Also a forerunner of the hard-headed professional school of drivers. He knew how to behave, certainly - but he also knew how to get what was his due. And I agree, Tom. Moss always said Fangio was the best.
  16. Almost as bad as the paint is the horrible nerf bar (or is it a clothes drying rack?) stuck on the front of that poor old Mercedes. As for Lennon's Rolls, that is properly fabulous and I'd own that like a shot!
  17. But I think the owner has, in place of a brain.
  18. Neat! What scale is it?
  19. The greatest Grand Prix racing driver never to be World Champion. My dad encountered him on a vintage car rally some years back. His attitude to proceedings was 'Get out of my bl**dy way!'. You don't get to be that successful in motor racing without a certain aggressive streak. Very sadly missed.
  20. And I hate google too but it's the best we've got ?
