  1. That's over 16 litres. Over 2 litres per pot! Amazing work, really smart. But I just don't like those stretched bodies. I know they work better in their chosen environment...
  2. Ouch! Did your place get hit?
  3. Full-size 'recreations' of real cars. Porsche 917 replica anyone? Here's a real one: Or this beauty: Based on this: There's a few more out there, let's see your candidates!
  4. Kind of a shame it ever began! We had to cut a big old tree down in our back garden, I still miss it.That tree was rotten and it had to be chopped for serious safety reasons (if left to it's own devices it would have wrecked a large part of our house), but to cut down trees for the sake of 'landscaping' or 'for a better view' is frankly criiminal.
  5. Frankly the rest of them aren't all that special either. And in questionable taste some would say! But there is something oddly appealing about them to me, in a morbidly curious way.
  6. I'm starting a new contract on Monday as a (software) test analyst - my work laptop isn't ready yet so I spent a few hours today ensuring (with a bit of help from my new clients IT helpdesk) that I can log on to their vpn from my trusty old desktop. Then I did some shutter work and concreting to replace a rotted wooden window sill in our outside loo. These things are actually more pleasurable without the attraction / distraction of being able to go out to places and meet different people. I'm starting to get into the lockdown but it's odd that I'll be working on a highly pressured project with people I may never actually meet in person. Welcome to the oceans in a labelled can Welcome to the dehydrated lands Welcome to the self-police parade Welcome to the neo-golden age Welcome to the days you've made You are welcome Bit of Hawkwind from their golden age! So thanks for asking, Dave. How are you doing?
  7. I've got a soft spot for these Crestas. Like a real American barge (not meant in an unkind way) but smaller. Big in UK terms though! And what's not to like about this?:
  8. I notice they all have 'high compression' engines! Funny thing to put on the box. Thanks for sharing these.
  9. I know what you're thinking: "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do you, punk? It all does make you wonder.
  10. Those exhausts are quite cheeky! Nice.
  11. Great! The last 2 pictures especially look like a real one!
  12. Great idea Michael. Would it be one car at a time or maybe 5 or so? I'm sure some of the members would have some great candidates, I have some if you want suggestions.
  13. Anyone remember this?: I wanted this so badly when I was a kid. Finally my birthday came around and Mum came through! I loved it, played with it for hours. Happy memories, apologies if its already been posted!
  14. ABS and traction control can't beat the laws of physics. Or stupidity. Keep feeling the road as you drive, maybe touch the brakes or jiggle the steering to see if it all still responds. If you can't stop safely in the distance you can see in front of you, do you: 1) Slow down? 2) Keep on going regardless? Clearly nearly 60 people chose option 2.
  15. I love the period accessories - I'd like to imagine it has leopard-print seat covers too!
  16. Without front wheels those seat belts will sure be needed! Seriously this is a superb piece of work, looks museum quality to me. Can't wait to see it in all its glory - no doubt with those front wheels securely in place!
  17. Yeah, once again the wheels and the stance are outstanding! I like the side pipes too.
  18. One of them did - to quote WikiPedia: 'As further testing of the prototype continued, the reliability of the engines and gearboxes continued to be problematic, but not to the extent that flight testing was prevented.[10] Evaluation of the flying boat continued into 1953, during which particular attention was devoted towards addressing the difficulties uncovered. During the 1953 Farnborough Airshow, the prototype was displayed.[12][10] Flight tests of the prototype continued up until 27 May 1954, by which point it had been found that the Proteus engine, once perfected, would be capable of enabling the type to achieve its envisioned performance figures. G-ALUN was the only model to fly, performing 46 test flights in total during which 100 hours flight hours were accumulated.'. It had no commercial future and BOAC for one bought Comets for their long-haul routes instead. There are surprisingly a few models out there, in 1:350, 1:200. 1:72 and, unbelievably there is apparently a 1:48 version. The last two are 3D printed by One Man Model. I don't know anything about how good they are, or even how available they might be, only seen them on the net. Cheers, -Don.
  19. One Man Model does a 1/72 scale Saunders-Roe Princess that fascinates me. The 1:1 had a 219 foot wingspan and was 148 feet long. So the model has a 3 foot wingspan.
  20. ? I hadn't realised they made it out to Canada. Bless 'em!
