  1. Complete with those insane/gorgeous Cromadora wheels!
  2. I like it, nice to see a deep space cruiser in the sunshine!
  3. No need for a trailer to tow this beauty - just chuck the slicks in the back, drive to the strip with a few friends / family, and go racing! Very evocative.
  4. I knew it was a Fiat based design by one of the 'Etceterini' car makers so prevalent in Italy around that time, but that's as far as I got. Good one!
  5. 'Open the pod bay doors Hal' 'I'm sorry Dave I can't do that'...
  6. Here's a man who had no time for self-driving cars, I wouldn't like to speculate on how much TP he got through... And testosterone was not in short supply here!
  7. Sorry Kurt - but I'd already identified the car as a 541R in this thread so the cat was already out of the bag!
  8. Jensen 541R 4 litre straight 6, 125mph fibreglass 2+2 coupe. Leather seats, good radio, overdrive. Steel chassis, fibreglass skin.
  9. It worked rather well. A lot of the people involved had been building tractors all their working lives so it was over-engineered (and on a budget) and did the job well. It did make the FF a fair bit slower than the 2wd Interceptor due to weight and power loss through the drivetrain but it could hook up with the tarmac and come out of a bend faster than most.
  10. He did a great job. Dad had two 541Rs that he used to commute long distance in. They were fabulous, quicker than everything else you were likely to meet. One of them was this colour:
  11. Yes there are 4 giveaways - the additional 5 inches in the length of the front end, the revised grille area, the scoop on the bonnet / hood and of course the twin vents behind the front wheels. Cheers, -Don.
  12. I had a Skype interview a few days back for a new contract - the next stage was to be a face-to-face. I just had an email from my agency to say that I've got through to the next stage but due to Corona virus this will also be a Skype call instead. It's a very fine line between sensible caution and over-reaction / panic. Not sure what category this falls into!
  13. I just heard the Australian Grand Prix due to be held this weekend has been cancelled: 'A statement issued jointly by F1, governing body the FIA and the Australian Grand Prix Corporation read: "Following the confirmation that a member of the McLaren Racing Team has tested positive for COVID-19 and the team’s decision to withdraw from the Australian Grand Prix, Formula 1 and the FIA convened a meeting of the other nine team principals on Thursday evening. Those discussions concluded with a majority view of the teams that the race should not go ahead. "Formula 1 and the FIA, with the full support of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) have therefore taken the decision that all Formula 1 activity for the Australian Grand Prix are cancelled.' Quote from the official F1 website.
  14. When I was hiking in India years ago I tried to wash my hands where and when I could, and used to wonder how clean the water was and who'd last used the tap. I went down with amoebic dysentery anyway! Still, what you say makes sense, Ron.
  15. This is because one of the team members has tested positive for the virus, it's to protect other participants. It's the right thing to do but still gutting for them.
  16. Big Al II gets me every time! Spike is right, great set of pictures. Thanks.
  17. Still not convinced that speed humps are the answer, my point re. emergency services remains valid - and speed humps don't tackle drug abuse! Sounds like you need more active and intelligent policing, just like most communities in the UK!
  18. The overall lines of this could have come from one of the great Italian styling houses of the late fifties / early sixties. The wheels and some of the chrome embellishments give it a transatlantic flavour. It's fabulous!
  19. Lurssen rudders! Well I learned something today. Thanks Joe -Don.

The paint looks great, the wheels too. Well done!
  21. Nice, Joe! By my reckoning, the 'boot is just over 3 feet long, yes? I love it. Cheers, -Don.
  22. Most definitely not! The difference is in the number of wheels on the front axle... A friend from years back. a proper cockney geezer, did actually put his Reliant Rebel on it's side in a pedestrian precinct. He had to stand up holding the drivers door open like a tank commander and persuade some passers-by to push the vehicle back onto it's wheels then drove away to hide in a corner. The embarrassment was too much to bear!
  23. Me too! Funny how black and white photos sometimes make the subject look more real!
  24. An excellent little car! My mum had it's predecessor, a Rebel - rear wheel drive, free-revving 750cc 'four', cheap to run and FUN!
  25. That GTO is something else. It's sure good looking. If it were mine, Id sort out the stance, give it the full four headlights and a decent grille and scare myself silly in it.
