  1. When cars (or bikes etc) run at speed trials such as at Bonneville, they use proper timing equipment. They don't rely on the speedometer. Speedos are notoriously inaccurate. Just saying. Still sounds like the Vicky was running pretty fast enough on public roads. It's a nice car.
  2. Yep, there's good and bad in all of us! ??
  3. Well, I can't stand sexism!
  4. Great job, Michael. I'd drive this if it was 1:1.
  5. I's refreshing to see bold colours, looking forward to the final result!
  6. Yes! I re-visited this with brain engaged and this is indeed a rotary but as you say, Snake, it's quite different from a Wankel rotary. I'll get my coat!...
  7. Looks like a great model, Bruce. Of course you're correct - a Rotary is quite different as you say - think NSU RO80 or various Mazda car engines. Does the model come with a miniature bottle of blackberry brandy to offset the castor oil fumes as noted on the box?
  8. Steve - I too love these sketches - but Cheese Shop and Dead Parrot were both performed by Michael Palin and John Cleese. Mr Jones wasn't in them.? But I'm sorry Terry went the way he did, he was one of the best (as were / are all of the Pythons).

    '40 Ford Bobber

I like that. It looks like a grown up Hot Wheels rod, which can't be bad.
  10. It appears to be mid or rear-engined judging from what's visible under the vent on the rear deck, which somehow doesn't fit with the long bonnet / hood and truncated rear. A bit like a VW-based kit but clearly a step up from that. Is there any more info on the drivetrain?
  11. You need to get some Waxoyl or some Dinitrol on that front end! Very convincing.
  12. Fantastic work, Eddie ! I'm not Ford fan but I do like the Consul Capri, when I was a very young kid these, the Classics and the Anglias were a taste of the transatlantic, along with the Wimpy bar naturally. I really would love to see it finished. What's your plan?
  13. Awww Bill, you're not supposed to give the answer! Anyway I happen to know it's the rare turbodiesel version...?
  14. In response to the talk about transmissions, automatics terrify me. I'd rather have full control. Good bit of exercise too, changing gear manually..
  15. I agree - for me the joy of a model is in how well it captures the spirit of the original. Nothing is finer than a Gerald Wingrove level of perfection in miniature but my amateur 69 'Vette, '69 Charger in French blue, my Spit 24 and the pair of old Frog Starfighters hit the spot. Stance and function are key.
  16. Said 'hot item' won't be the subject of this weeks Auto Id quiz on this forum to judge from the feedback its received. But then again to a collector of kitsch...
  17. It's a race car and it's just right. Like the crew repaired the door in a hurry after it got dinged...
  18. ? I have an idea what it's based on - but as to what it is now I haven't a clue. I must admit to a morbid curiosity - who would do this, and who would actually pay money for it?
  19. Thanks for the information Leslie. The taxi looks promising, with echoes to my mind of a chopped '49 Mercury.
  20. Thanks! Keep up the good work. Cheers, -Don.
  21. Hi David This is impressive work. I can't help noticing what seems to be a scale anomaly - the chap on the corner appears to be much taller than the ambulance and twice the height of the Rolls / Bentley nearest the viewer. Likewise the Rolls behind dwarfs both the other vehicles. Am I missing something? Not trying to pick holes, but genuinely curious! Cheers, -Don.
  22. Leslie - At risk of veering off topic, am I right in my understanding that cats are a bit more lively in rough water than single hulled boats? Oh - and I've never imagined a chopped taxi before. Is it an FX4? Apologies if you have already posted this info! Cheers, -Don.
