  1. Don't find those kinds of leaders anymore in companies. Looking forward to seeing what you bring to the table here Pat.
  2. Thanks Jeff. Didn't have a chance to get the box and parts pic today. Not started on it yet so I should be able to have it up soon. Here you go Jeff:
  3. Thanks Carl! Well there was a big set of thunderstorms moving into the area starting at around 10 p.m. and ending at 3 a.m. so I needed to act pretty quick tonight so I could apply my gloss coat after reapplying the flames this morning. I prepped everything this morning and made sure to clean my paint jar out today at work. So I told my sweet wife and son to give me 30 minutes tonight to accomplish all this. I had one minor hiccup with the Alclad in the paint but think I can overcome it. N E wayz ..............I couldn't be happier with the outcome and the flames came out EXACTLY how I wanted them to this time. Bold up front and fading at the end of the flames. Taaa Daaaa........back on track now.
  4. The body damage replication on this is incredible. I really enjoy good work like this taking shape.
  5. Very Impressive work on something not seen built all the time. Good subject and killer build.
  6. Didn't know this was going on. Any chance I can jump in here with my Pabst Blue Ribbon Freightliner? I'll post photos of the parts in the morning. Thankfully I haven't started on it yet.
  7. Wow! That truck does have a tough look to it. Fantastic work!
  8. Just be patient with me when I don't know what tha hell I'm talkin' about. I'll try my best to do some research before spouting something that sounds like I know what I'm talking about..................but you know how that goes. Thanks for droppin' in Kerry. Almost through with my "Demon II" F-100 build ( which took dang near a lifetime for me to finish) and I'll be able to devote 100% of my efforts here.
  9. Well..............now for the rough part..............but there's a good ending. Back on the mend after a complete disaster. I just simply couldn't believe what had happened as I was applying the gloss coat on this. One one hand it was the picture perfect finish with maybe a touch up of wet sanding and polishing here and there.................on the other............a mess!!! Somehow the Alclad had managed to get ALL OVER the cab and hood. The only thing I can think of is that during the fading process where I tried to polish the Alclad in which to achieve a subtle effect (which was going completely my way) I managed to get it all over the place but couldn't see it. You don't have to look very close to see it. I didn't see this earlier but this "Wet Look" gloss is definitely the bomb. Notice the reflection writing on the light bulb on the hood. And this is with NO polish. So..........I was pondering.......... . My initial thought was to dunk it in brake fluid to strip the paint and start completely over. But the paint layers are thin enough to where I could shoot another thin layer of black on and start over......................so....................I did!! Man did the finish ever go on so much smoother than the first go round. Here we are back at square one with an even smoother base coat............stay tuned.................flames coming back up! Another foul up and a recovery to add to the mix. I was working with the grille and headlamps and decided to use some clear nail polish to adhere the headlight lenses to the buckets. If you've ever given this any thought..................PASS!!!! It quickly deteriorated/ stripped the chrome underneath!! Kit #3 had to be acquired to fix this. I started over and this time used some Tamiya acrylic clear to adhere them. I'll call this a "save". The disaster piece is on the bottom. Live and learn I guess:
  10. I really like seeing all the different builds with these Foose F-100 kits. I've already got 3 of 'em in the stash now. Great work so far Eric.
  11. Good lookin' truck Clayton. Glad you beat the PB blunder and put these up. PB...........pfffft.....whadda joke!!!
  12. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaang!!! Impressive build bud! What tha heck is in there? A basketball court??
  13. Thanks Brian................................stay close will ya...............I'll need some help with the finer details on rigs in general and on this specifically. Good God.......what have I got myself into........
  14. Man it's all good Brian and no I don't think you're being too critical. I can definitely tell that you're offering constructive criticism and THAT..................is always welcome. When it comes to WWII Luftwaffe aircraft, I have a huge experience in their history as well as reference base to draw from and the same goes for the light truck/ car lineup except I've got 20+ years of hands on experience with that but THIS area......is definitely uncharted waters for me.
  15. You bring up an interesting point Brian. I merely looked on the side of the box and it displayed an NHC-250 engine so that's what I started looking for. Now ya got me thinkin'...................
  16. Thanks Clayton! 'Preciate the vote of confidence and great to see you again Tom. I've been scarce until the last couple of months. Had to take a break from the bench for a while. Thanks for the encouragement Brian. I'll be going with a resin NHC-250 Cummins.
  17. Thanks Dave!! I'll be sure to keep that in mind because I don't have just a whole lot of big truck experience. LOTS of light truck but none on the heavy side. I'll surely do that if / when I find the match Jeff THANK YOU for that heads up on both parts Clayton. Is there a PE set for these kits?
  18. Right off the bat there are a lot of parts to this basic frame and suspension. Got lots of cleanup to do and some research before painting. I'm not used to building these kinds of kits so the research is going SLOW.
  19. With the end of my "Demon II" build in sight and a slight lull in it due to waiting on parts I've decided to put my next build on the work bench. This one is another "Blast from the Past". I built this kit as a kid and although it was a terrible build looking back, I had a lot of fun with it. After a tumble on the shelf shortly after I built it she was put out of her misery. The Pactra Star Blue paint had been brushed on and it was the ugly duckling of all of my builds even in that day. Flashing forward some 35 years later here I go to give this beauty another shot. As some of you know, I've been wanting to build a rig for some time now and this just seemed like the perfect one to build. The Pactra paint line has ended so I'll be on the search for a close, if not perfect, match to the original Star Blue as possible. I also need to do a lot of research on White Freightliners as to get a lot of the details right and the paints as close as possible. Decals are shot so I'll be outsourcing those to get a fresh set. I've also managed to round up an upgraded set of wheels and tires for this bad boy so I turned to Moebius for those. I've also ordered an upgraded resin engine to use with this kit. The OOB one isn't bad but it just doesn't have the details that I want. So I'll be posting pictures of that when it comes in. With that............let's get started...............
  20. I'm really liking that color now that you've got it mounted up on the chassis. Looked "Bad A" man.
  21. Thanks Jim Thanks Carl. Trying to keep the progress moving. All the work that's left is stuff that takes time. 'Preciate that Jeremy. Ok folks , I wet sanded out the dust particles in the painted hood this morning and dug out the flame masks. I chose the third set down from the top to use on this project. So I applied the mask to a spare piece of plastic and broke out the Alclad Polished Aluminum and sprayed a very light coat onto a test subject. Although there's a little camera movement in the following photos, they still depict what I'm trying to accomplish here which is a subtle "ghost flame" in which the finish will vary with different lighting against the black base coat. Under direct light: and under an indirect light: I'm really looking forward to seeing how this is going to look under a good gloss coat.
  22. Unusual but sharp color JC.
  23. A bit late to this Jeremy but.....................WOW!! Great work on this one bud.
  24. Color is on all exterior parts now. Just waiting a few days for the paint to totally cure out before I start sanding some of the dust particles out and movin' on to the flames and the clearing process.
  25. Thanks Jeremy! I have enough of a nerve racking time painting for just me.
