  1. I see one of these printers in my future. That's some dang fine work there buddy.
  2. Thanks Dave. I'm pulling my typical stuff where things tend to get out of control. I guess that's what I like most about this hobby is that I can start out in one direction and the next thing I know I'm heading off in another completely different one. I am having a lot of fun with this though as this is my first time working with dioramas.
  3. Well gang...............I started thinking about how I could go about the outside of the walls but didn't just want to put something directly over the walls because the window and door wouldn't be spaced in any plus it'd be really hard to cover what is already there without damaging the walls that I already have in place. So I came up with an idea. I cut out a piece of plexiglass the dimensions of the walls and cut out the window area for the back wall and will cut out the door area for the side wall so that both items are spaced in from the outside of the walls. Wall trimming in progress: and the outside of the wall now covered in a textured brick pattern covering from Dollhouse Miniatures. I've still got a little clean up to do but you get the picture.
  4. Very nice GT-40 and fantastic replication.
  5. Man you sure know how to build a car JC. Good show bud.
  6. You've definitely got my attention.
  7. That's some nice paint work you've got going there Greg. Awesome conversion as well.
  8. Lookin' good from the photo you posted Jerry. Looking forward to more photos when you can post them.
  9. No problemo bud.
  10. Thanks for the good word Ron. Yes you can get them from there but there's another spot to get them at as well at a site called Scale Equipment Ltd. Here's the link: http://www.seltd.net/cgi-bin/ez-catalog/cat_display.cgi?account=X344897;search=20;search=Food Details;limit=category;v=2.0
  11. Thanks fellas. Dave: The filing cabinet and calendar and all that stuff is 1:1 Got a little more done and thought I'd have some fun today. I have more signs but was careful not to overdo it. The sign over the door made me laugh my ass off. Actually.................BOTH did. Look closely. In the foreground are the Evergreen strips for the window trim. Gotta make some diagonal cuts in the ends in which to butt them together, prime and paint 'em up and get 'em on the wall still.
  12. Man that is COOL and it's a brilliant idea for a diorama!!
  13. Thanks Jeremy, Dave and JC. Yeah it was a little too dang clean .............ya know? Well fellas I've spent ALOT of time working on the base garage and have made some satisfactory progress. For starters I installed the door into the opening but it didn't look right without the door trim around the opening so I cut some Evergreen into strips, painted and cleared 'em, installed them and weathered them some without going overboard. I'll be doing this with the window opening as well. I also put together an old Chevy Truck advertisement into a picture frame by taping the photo onto the back of some clear Evergreen styrene and then masking and painting a frame onto the front of it. Getting back to the door I dirtied it up a bit and threw a couple of performance decals on it just to give the shop some character. Door handle and lock were painted with a Molotow Chrome pen and installed. Lastly, I decided to throw something oddball in. In my office is a file cabinet with a fishing advertisement sticker on the side of it and I thought and decided I could throw it on the wall in between the shelves of my storage shelving that's going to go into that corner for a subtle addition to the shop. Here's the sticker in my office: Here's the shop after installing all of what I've talked about here this morning. Notice the sticker made into a decal on the wall as well.
  14. Ok folks. I've been rackin' my brain trying to figure out two of my problems with this build. First off , the floor was just too dang clean. I tried dirtying up the paper based flooring with ground up brown and black pastel rubbed into the flooring but it wasn't enough. As you all know, it would just rub off. Then my thoughts turned to some 1000 grit sandpaper. . Now that............might just work. So I started on the first two rows of tile and lo and behold.........it was just what I wanted!! You can see the difference between the first two rows and the rest of the flooring in the following photo: So I sanded the whole floor and put some more "dirt and grime" on the walls: This is also going to be an "inside" display with the only outside reference being seen through the window in the back of the shop so I had to put terminating ends on the sides and tops of the walls. I was at odds on how to accomplish that until this morning. I grabbed some black Evergreen styrene sheets that I had and started measuring, cutting and gluing. Before: and after (I'll be installing a door to hide the doorway wall innards):
  15. Everything you're adding is a straight up improvement bud. Lookin' good so far.
  16. Say.......... I do like that color. I enjoy playing with the different shades of the same color with different primers/ undercoat colors. Lookin' good Tom.
  17. Got the walls free standing now with nothing propping them up. The more I looked at the whole shop floor and walls , the more I felt the need to grime it up just a tad. I didn't want it nasty, just used somewhat. So I used some ground up black and a little brown pastels and rubbed in some brown to dirty it and smudged some in the window sill and framing for the dust effect. I hit the areas directly behind the work bench and on the sides of the door entrance with some rubbed in black pastel. Still got LOTS of weathering to do inside here in regards to the work bench, floors and walls. I'll also be working on the door and putting some other goodies on the walls in addition to panel close outs at the top and end edges of the walls. Here's a top side view so far:
  18. Any kind of a kept up shop needs some clean up equipment which I've been working on I managed to assemble a push broom, paint and weather it and did the same to the trash can, dust pan and brush. I found some tissue paper with some writing on it wadded up and thrown in the trash can for an added touch.
  19. This diorama area of modeling is catchy!! Love all the scratch building going into this one!!
  20. This is turning out swell. Really swell! My son LOVES Raptors so I'll be showing this to him later. Good work on this one Ashley.
  21. Here's before any weathering/ dirtying up and with the walls merely propped up. Lots more to add detail wise.
  22. Thanks Dave. I do use my own photo shots a lot. Especially the "macro" ones. Sometimes I'm horrified at my initial work and have to go back and fix it. lol. I've gotta go back over that desktop so it doesn't have too much shine.
  23. Thanks fellas. Here's the desk and chair that took about of week for me to build. I ended up building the resin coffee pot kit that I had, the camera came from the Fujimi tools kit as did the chair. Coffee cup is resin and was cleaned up and drilled out. Coffee can is also a resin kit. I felt something was missing from the desk top so I've got a microwave kit coming and will probably put a piece of notebook paper and a pencil on the desktop as well.
  24. The lighting is playing its part in this dio. Looking good Dave.
  25. Color looks "Bad A" dude. Good lookin' Porsche.
