Li'L Roll Back " C "
mustang1989 replied to Mopar - D's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Well you know I'm gonna be in on this! Go for it Dan! -
Dan: The way things are looking, I'll probably get pushed out to the garage at some point. We are in the process of adopting a child and will need the spare bedroom in the foreseeable future. I'm sure out there it's not going to make much difference. lol. Till then I may have to come up with something to work out. Carl: Thanks buddy. So far it's looking like that's the ticket for worn tires for me. I spent a lot of the afternoon yesterday (while I was working around the house) daydreaming up ideas to get the wheels mounted up on the axles and finally got it. I have a piece of brass tubing that's going to fit perfect inside the front wheel center hole(after I cut the tubing to fit the width , they'll ride perfectly on the front axle spindles) and ended up JB welding some washers to the rear brake backing plates to space the rear tires out just enough to clear the springs (took too much off of the rear diff) and not be seen. Here's a mock up so far. ( So far I'm happy with it)

Hey Rich. You got any pics? I aint ever seen that either. I was at church today and one of the guys I look up to in the congregation asked me if I'd go out to his car as he had something for me. Lo and behold he gave me this: and this (and I didn't know that Gunze Sangyo made kits AND the lights work!! ):

1971 duster on steroids nov 6 decalled and nearly done

Hmmmm. I think you may have unlocked the mystery on how I'm going to do the exhaust on my F-100. The bends look so uniform between the two tailpipes. How did you go about shaping them? -

That looks good Fred! What did you use for exhaust pipes? -
That's funny you should ask because I was going to post something on that. I got tired of waiting on the weather to clear up so I broke a cardinal "in the house" rule and broke out the enamel paint this morning and shot a coat or two of gloss black on the rear wheels in preparation for an alclad coat later this week. I also painted the alclad in the house on my front wheels over the weekend and then put everything in a sealed case, opened a window and closed off the room. lol . Sometimes you just have to move forward you know.

What non-auto model did you get today?
mustang1989 replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
You're gonna like what you see if you do that. I'm all in for a good 'ol Revellogram build but these other companies have really got their act together. I will say that Revell as of late has been upping the ante. -
Thanks Ira, Dan and Stray. I've made some progress this morning but nothing worth taking pics of yet. Still a lot of test fit and planning out. I do have the gloss black applied to the rear wheels this morning and will be waiting for that to dry, a few more details painted on the motor and things of that nature. Hopefully , benchtime is gonna be kind to me this week. lol

Wayne: I've never built a Cyber Hobby kit yet but have heard some good things about it. I've been mostly prone to the F-K series of 109 but as of late I've been eyeing the earlier birds and have recently acquired a C model. I'd be very interested in following this build whenever you get around to it. Jeremy: I think I've built that kit before. As I remember it was a pretty straight forward build that even has the option to show off some engine detail and a panel that can be opened up on the port side below the cockpit. In any case, cool score dude. Kevin: Umm I dunno bout dat! lol Will be watching for that "4" to be built. -
Thanks Carl and Dan. Well I chucked up my 12mm deep socket again, mounted the front tires on it one by one and spun 'em up a piece of sandpaper to give the tread that worn look like I did on my Challenger build. Here's the Challenger tire mounted up on the drill: After that I shot a coat of dull coat on the sidewalls of the tires and mounted my wheels on 'em: Here's the tires and wheels for this build after all the sandpaper and dull coating:( the funny thing is that you can't see any of the coverage problems on the wheels with the naked eye. If I were going off of these pics I'd start over on the wheels. Believe me, they look a helluva lot better in person) Then I started back on the motor a little. I sanded the distributor cap down a little on the top and started drilling holes to put the ignition wires in to: Hopefully I get a good bench session tomorrow.

It used to happen to me all the time. I've managed to hold my horses on most things because my "froggyness" has gotten me in trouble more than I care to admit but I still flub up from time to time with that. But hey, that's modeling. lol -
Thanks Carl! I'm looking forward to that! I touched up some areas that needed paint and installed the intake manifold today. I've installed many an intake in the real world and use sealer on the "china walls" of the intake so I did the same here.....using automotive sealer on the "china walls". lol I stripped the chrome plating off of the carburetors and test fitted those on top as well. A small amount of clean up and these will get the paint treatment. I just need to find a pic regarding throttle linkages and return springs now. This is a little cleaner shot than I showed Wednesday being that I cleaned the paint up a little.

You're bringing back memories of when I built something similar to this when I was a kid. I think it was the U.S.S. Constitution. What's the rigging gonna be like for this great build Paul? Good save on the display case glass!! That acrylic stuff aint cheap!
