  1. Really nice car bud!
  2. Test fit , test fit , test fit and more test fit! If it's one thing I'm understanding now is the proper planning and set up to pull something like this all together. You're doing a terrific job keeping up with all the future concerns and fit issues Dan.
  3. There's Wayne! Another true believer in the stretched sprue method.
  4. I wanted to reply to this earlier and my stupid computer at work started acting up. This thing looks fantastic! Really nice build man.
  5. Man this thing is gonna look sharp Randy...................real sharp!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jeeeeez !
  6. Thanks Jason. It was fun while it lasted. Thanks for the comments Steve and Stray!
  7. Nailed 'em both!! They look great Ron!
  8. Thanks Dan and Jim. I have actually given thought to widening the fenders at first. I've got a plan in motion so I'll see how it all pans out.
  9. Don't we all? Looks good so far Kevin.
  10. I hear you on keeping the cost of the build down there Jeremy. It seems the AM world has dug its hooks into the talent that comes from the detailer in a lot of the builders and its a "pay if you wanna play" type atmosphere in the modeling world. The more I do this it seems the more I rely on scratchbuilding skills and OOB parts. I mean I still go out and buy AM stuff but I find myself paying more attention to the overall cost of a build these days. I don't consider myself an "expert" by any means but I'll offer my take on your questions. There are a couple of methods for re-applying the panel lines but the one I'm most familiar with is using stretched sprue to about the thickness of a human hair to fix the problem. You could get by without it but the missing panel lines are noticeable and are worth the effort to replace if you went through the trouble of getting rid of the midline seam. I've never tried the paint and tape method but see where it would work if you applied enough paint. The trick I could foresee there would be knowing how much paint to call enough before removing the masking. I could see getting practice with either method before actually putting them into use but will say that in the end you will definitely be glad you re-applied the panel lines. As far as the landing gear doors: some folks paint the doors with 'em installed and some paint them separately. I paint them separately and use tightly wadded up pieces of toilet or facial tissue stuffed into the landing gear / wheel well areas. It's easy to remove the tissue after painting and to me I get more coverage on the panels painting them separately and don't "fight the process" near as much. Hope this helps you out bud.
  11. Thanks Carl! Actually the rear end is in the same place as far as fore and aft is concerned.
  12. Ok fellas I feel like I'm finally getting somewhere here with this build! I've got the rear springs set into place with white glue just for test fitting and measurement purposes. I've got the axle just about where I want it. I may can lower it another teeny bit but it's around 1/4" lower than what it was right now. I've got the fabricated motor mount bosses glued into position also. The engine was still sitting at a weird angle even after motor mound mods so I added a transmission mount to the cross member which fixed the front high angle problem I was having out of the engine. So far here are all the parts so far in white that have been added and/ or modified.... and here's a comparison from frame to frame on even levels where the rear end is supposed to be if I were to build it how I was supposed to and where it is currently on this build. Now I just have to clean up and narrow the rear end to move the tires inward.
  13. I'd be doing just that but I'm already behind on another build that I'm trying to kick out at the same time I'm doing this one.
  14. Thanks fellas!! I have a couple of routes to go with for the exhaust. I can go headers but that's gonna require a lot of fancy foot work. There are what appears to be some high flow type manifolds in the modified version of that 429 in the Mustang box. I've got another set of decent looking high flows laying around from years gone by with exhaust lead pipes as well. We'll see what happens. Decisions, decisions I'll tell ya!!
  15. Looks good from what I can see here Gabe!!!
  16. Great work as usual Jay!!! Can't wait to see where this one goes!
  17. Man Paul!!! What a well thought out and executed build so far. You're really bringing this thing to life here with the mods, details and the paint work!
  18. Looks like you're doing one helluva job there Jeremy. The wing roots look great from here. Can't wait to see some paint on this puppy! Are you going with the kit decals or AM?
  19. Dan that motor looks right at home in there and I like that air intake buddy! What kind of firewall detail do you have planned out?
  20. Well folks it's definitely update time. I'll post the major update pic first that has green callout lines. I didn't label the lines but I'll start with the lines starting at the front of the frame and work towards the rear. Here we go: For line #1 at the radiator core support area I cut out the large area so that my belt, pulleys and fan would have a place to sit in place. At line #2 I cut out the transmission cross member and relocated the cross member to the 4 speed transmission mount location. At the 3rd line I relocated the rear leaf spring front perch on top of the frame and the 4th line is where I relocated the rear spring perch on top of the frame. The transmission sits in like so: I've still gotta install fabricated motor mounts from the frame to the engine but this is where that's gonna sit: (this body is ONLY used as part of the test fitting) A little crooked but I'll straighten that out: The biggest worry I have right now is the exhaust but I'll get past it.
  21. I appreciate that Ron! It's funny that it was just supposed to be a simple touch up! 4 months later........................
  22. I'm looking forward to seeing how this is all going to look when it comes together! Looking forward to more.....
  23. That sir is one fine build you got yourself there!
