  1. Thanks Dan and Tom. With the time that all the detail in consuming I'll probably be on this thing for another two to three months!!! lol Joe:Thanks man! I just couldn't help myself once I got started. lol . I do TONS of research when I build so I don't leave anything to imagination. Cars I've found are alot easier in that regard because for the most part there's plenty of examples and the reference photos are plentiful. I'm having alot of fun with just that aspect alone. Jeff:Thanks you sir! I haven't gotten into the resin copying yet. Maybe I'll drift that way the longer I keep my position as plastic surgeon of the house! lol
  2. Awesome garage and awesome fabrication Richard.
  3. That'd be the way I'd do it. That's a clean 1:1 ride you've got there from the looks of that interior Pat.
  4. I did some detail painting in the engine compartment this morning but need to do some touch up so while the paint was drying there I switched over to the tires. I got ahold of Joe at fireball and rather than sell me something decal wise , he gave me the idea for an acrylic fine point white Sharpie at HL to paint them with. I'll be doing business with this guy because you just don't find folks everywhere in the market world who aren't in it for every dollar they can stand......and then some. The acrylic pen idea worked. I still have to apply a light dull coat over the tires for a true tire "look" but I'm sure happy with the results so far:
  5. That's a good idea Tom! I was thinking of a dark (maybe black) wash on the ribbed scuff plate and then make sure the top of the ribs are rubbed off nice and clean. I don't remember the top of the ribs being shiny so maybe paint the whole scuff plate "aluminum" and then apply the wash.
  6. This is different. I'll be in on this one Ray and great mock up so far! Colors.......................white with the dual red stripes down the middle maybe? I've seen that set up on the II's and it looks cool to me.
  7. Thanks Dan , Lee and Gerald!!!!
  8. Man Pat! Looks like more fabrication on the way! Cool! I can't help but notice that the convertible you have pictured has the deluxe brushed aluminum panels on the dash inserts and the finned aluminum door scuff plates but the front seats seem to be standard seats. I do know the parts for the deluxe seating was getting pretty tough to find when I was restoring mine...................and pricey!
  9. This is intense Dan! Good goin!
  10. Now that's a good spot for it! Looks great!
  11. I 'member Miles! I've seen you around in the "On the Workbench" section alot. I've been trying to get myself somewhat established out in the mainstream these days as well as being here. Lookin' forward to the progress!
  12. Well last night I was looking at my engine compartment and comparing it to the references I have and bam! It hit me! I didn't have the cowl and the side strips at the fender/engine compartment border painted black! Oh man! I got up early again this morning and masked everything off and corrected that and then installed the windshield wiper motor area onto the firewall. Here's the wiper motor area before installation with the light wash still in the process of drying. and here is the corrected cowl and side strip area with the motor assy installed onto the firewall.......... Now for the voltage regulator................................
  13. At times I have my doubts but I'm plugging away at it anyways. Thanks for the mental boost Tom!
  14. Man I hear that. Down here in "hell" it doesn't get near that cold. Hopefully the weather will warm up for you there Jason!
  15. Eric:Thanks man! This kit was a total junkpile I can tell you that! I fought my way through the wings all the way. The wings are not operational. Just couldn't pull it off and make it look good at all. Kevin:Thanks buddy!
  16. Thanks Eric and Kevin! This is probably my favorite build of all of them I have.
  17. Thanks Dan and I appreciate the info on the firewall Fred. It's too late due to the time invested but will be keeping that bit of information in my head.
  18. This is cool! I do have one question....................where does this go on the model?
  19. Thanks Dan! Well I got up a little late this morning but met today's goal of getting the window motor area and the voltage regulator sanded down and off of the other kit's firewall. Cleaned 'em up for the most part and will me mounting them soon and playing around with matching the original firewall color. I'll probably paint the whole engine compartment over so I can re-do the detail painting. We start with cutting out the general area here: Then sanding this down to where the needed items will glue onto the firewall without sticking out a half mile. I switched over to a file set up because it was alot easier. After about a half hour of patient and careful sanding here's the result. A voltage regulator and wiper motor assy / area that I can adhere right on to the firewall. Now for the paint........................................
  20. The gloss on that thing is amazing. Hell even the windows have a nice sheen to them! Great work Tim!
  21. Thanks Jonathan! I did in fact come up with blower motor and voltage regulator( or at least I think its a voltage regulator up there on the firewall just to the right of the windshield wiper motor) that are on the other Revell kit that I have. I'll be transferring that detail to the existing firewall on this kit. I'll have to mix up some red to come pretty close to the molded body color in the engine compartment.
  22. The good 'ol deluxe interior package. Looks good!!
