  1. No argument with all that at all there Rich! When we boil it all down to the "nitty gritty" it's all modeling and we all seem to have fun doing that pal. We're all among friends here. The airplane sounds thing is still cracking me up! "yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeoooooooooooooooooooowww!!" LOL
  2. I'll go with that option. I would like to think she aint that stupid. lol
  3. That would be a good idea and my red heeler would use it but Sweet Pea (Pee), my 17 year old miniature Dachshund is just too stupid to use it. lol (It aint the age either! She's always been a little )
  4. No real updates for today picture wise. I did, however, work on the master cylinder a little bit, sanded all the seams down on the original radiator(these were friggin' terrible) , touched up the battery painting and started painting the battery cables. Movin' a little slow this morning. I have nocturnal doggies and they got me up at 2 a.m. yesterday. Feelin' a little worn down here................
  5. LOL!! I think I do all of that except the last part..lol! In the case of our Corsairs here , there's just no way to open up the canopy without a major overhaul and this being a Christmas gift and me only having a limited amount of time all I did was paint it, weather it and add a set of colored PE seat belts. For cockpits that I can open up I try to go all out. For instance, I ended up taking the Monogram SBD Dauntless up a notch with a Hasegawa cockpit and some scratch built items to add some pizzaz to it. I just couldn't leave one of the greats with the sliding canopy open and the gunners area all opened up with a blank slate inside. Both of us being old Monogram kit fans, you know the one I'm talking about. Monograms SBD cockpit outta the box: and here's after the upgrades. All I had for seat belts were the dang PE buckles from a Tom's Modelworks set. I used lead foil for the belts and routed them through the buckles. I think this was the beginning of the end for my eyesight. lol It all seemed to fit like it was made for it (although I did have to shave the legs on the gunners platform down a bit so the seat would clear the flooring). My only regret is that I wasn't as controlled with my washes yet in 2013 and it shows on stuff like the rear gunners ammo box. I've since worked this problem out though. Most everything in here is from the Hasegawa SBD-4 kit and fits just near perfect.
  6. You're right about that Pat. Those IP's are a tremendous amount of work if you want one to look even presentable and it looks like you've put that kind of work here. Looks great man.
  7. First off , this is one big bad boy here! Secondly, I have to see the display space you have! It has to quadruple my available display area Dan! lol
  8. First off I woke up on this side of the dirt and had a fairly good day despite it being busy. Then got to come home to my family and spend some time with them. In short..............I'm well pleased.
  9. That sounds wild there Joseph! Pics?
  10. Lookin forward to the show Joseph!
  11. Rich: I agree with you to a point in that I hold alot of the early Monogram 1/48 kits in fairly high regards when it comes to exterior detail, especially all the rivet detail. But what tha hell happened once we get into the cockpits??? lol Jeremy:Thanks man. Have you started a WIP here on that P-40?
  12. You got it brutha Tim! I do enjoy what I do as it's therapy for me. .....and I enjoy being here with birds of a feather!
  13. I thought of doing that but honestly this process only took little more than a half hour and I'm used to graphing stuff in to places on aircraft anyways so it's not a big deal to me. I have the mindset of doing whatever it takes and here it seemed to work perfect for me. It would have been a lot simpler if Monogram would have actually put stuff on the firewall. Although I did find out after I did this that the Revell AAR Cuda firewall just drops right in! lol (Next time I'll know.)
  14. Thanks Carl! Yeah that pen helped me out a lot.
  15. Thanks James! That P6 should be a nice build! At just over a 200 mph top speed it was a great final salute to the last of the bi planes.
  16. I was wonderin' where you got off to. Great work Jim
  17. Ha ha!! My 10 year old is just getting into models and I always know where mine end up and always know who to talk to about it. lol
  18. Thanks Andre! I think I spent about a month and a half on the engine build up alone! lol
  19. Thanks a lot Dan!! I'll keep you posted on the DB build and the detailing is gonna get stoooopid!!!!
  20. A good 'ol Jolly Rogers build eh Rich? Looks good man! I filled in my wings pretty much the same way. While under construction: and finished:
  21. Ok fellas! Today's update. I re-focused my attention back to the tires after Monty gave me a pointer or two. I was mostly happy with the outcome but think overall its my lack of experience with the white lettering on these tires. I touched 'em all up a tad and ended up having to completely start over on one rear tire due to the "G" just disappearing when I tried to wipe away the paint after a disastrous touch up session with it. No worries, I had an extra one in the stash. Hated robbing one but hey, that's modeling. I'm going to stop while I'm ahead with these things before my OCD starts kicking in. What I want to do is paint about 5 sets of these things in succession to get good at it..........NOW ( I do this kind of stuff when I get frustrated-I spent a solid hour stretching sprue over a candle and ended up mastering that so well that I can get sprue stretched well beyond hair follicle diameter every time!) but I don't have that kind of time this morning............................maybe later. lol ! Here's before: and here's now: other progress this morning was the installation of the now painted blower motor into the firewall and initial painting of the battery. I've also got the master cylinder holes drilled for the brake lines and the reservoir cap retainer. The engine bay(looks like I got a little carried away with the paint on the battery--corrections coming.....): As a feeler for a future project, I was wondering from the crowd if (after I'm finished with this Challenger) if I could start a WIP here on an upcoming project I have. I'm not going to build the whole thing here but planned on building at least the power plant end of it here in it's own thread. We're all gear heads here so I was wondering if (when I get to that point) if I could build at least the Daimler Benz DB605 here from my Bf109 build that's coming up? Thoughts? If I it's not recommended then I will post it in the All the Rest section but I'm having a blast out here in the mainstream building with you guys. Here's the kit (and yes ...........this thing is it's own kit in 1/48 th scale). I don't know what the parts count is but it's alot and comes with an 8 page instruction booklet. The Eduard Brassin engine in 48th scale: One page out of the instructions: and the resin engine block:
  22. Carl: I have a couple of pics of the paint pen below. Elmer's makes it so I've given the name and part number for you dude. James:Thanks for your comments bud! Jim:I appreciate the encouraging "chime in" !
  23. Lookin' good this way Ira. Do you have a control console for in there any where?
  24. Keep at it Jason. I may extend the deadline some. I have some room with this one pal. No problem Danny.
