  1. Man I like that dash!!!
  2. This thing just gets better with every post Dan!
  3. Looks great Tom! That's a fair amount of work with 24 wheel/ tire assys!!! You're a better man than me.................. lol
  4. Thanks Carl. On the brake lines, yes. I'll have the lines coming off of the master cylinder and routing down towards the frame. There's a nice little area down there where I can terminate the lines. This kit was cool as far as detail goes when I was a kid but there's just so much missing here. No front brake rotors and calipers just to name a couple of things but then again, you can't have it all I guess. Here's so far and I really had to play with the angles and the lights this morning. I must have taken 10-15 shots before I finally got one I could live with. lol
  5. Can't wait to see the results of all this fine fabrication and combining of parts. Looking great so far Mike!
  6. Thanks Fred, Daniel, Tom and Buzz! I know I needed to give it more than I did initially. Must have been one of those halfway days starting out the other morning. lol I tend to not call it peer pressure but lateral support....................and accountability. John:Thanks for all the good comments. I did have alot of fun with that IP. I was surprised myself when I looked at the completed dash. Lewis:Glad to see you are back into the modeling realm. I've been back for 3 years now after a mostly off and partially on status for around 22 years. I appreciate your comments. Hopefully I'll be able to touch this all up in a spot or two that I noticed later and start on the brake lines tomorrow.
  7. Weathering is first class and the mock up looks great so far. If there's an issue I can't see it.
  8. Lookin' forward to the progress Lewis! Welcome back to the hobby and to the forum man!
  9. Thank you Lee! Well I managed to squeak a couple more minutes in this morning for the additional touches. Now it's time to move on to the brake lines....... Thank you for the for the input fellas:
  10. LOL! There's enough stuff in those paints to kill a good n' healthy guy over twice without the PPE!! lol
  11. Thanks for the reference pic Fred! This is where I'm at right now waiting for the enamel coats to cure out so I can do some touch up to it to keep it looking too "fresh". I appreciate all the input and I don't take it wrong when I get constructively corrected. It's all for the benefit of learning. Here we are now after a semi gloss coat on the booster, goldish color on the cap and an iron coat on the master cylinder. Will paint the retainer and touch up the rest tomorrow...
  12. I use extra kit parts all the time Pat and it looks like you made it work with the windshield here Pat. In fact I make it a common practice (after several experiences with hacking aircraft kits up to display the "guts" of the airframe) to buy an extra kit for just the reason you used for the w/s. Invariably I need a part on my modified kits and it's nice to have it already there. Lookin' good so far and hope you get your orange peel problem dealt with. I tend to agree with Ben on the paint thickness as I've had that bite me in the hiny a couple of times. lol
  13. Decisions decisions decisions. I'm gonna nap for a bit and think on it. Thanks Monty for the input. Sometimes we do need a little push to backtrack and "look things over " in the big picture. lol
  14. Thanks Fred for the heads up. In the future builds and for future reference on this build I'll be checking out other resources on colors and routing. There's not nearly as much guess work with cars as there is with warbirds thankfully! lol
  15. Thanks Tommy, Dan and Fred! Tommy I doubt that on the joke part! lol Fred. It's gonna be ok as far as colors are concerned I'm gonna hang with what I have right now. Too much work invested already. lol . I do have to work on the finish variations though. The reference picture:
  16. Well it's looking like I might have made some head way today. I got ready to paint the retainer this morning and had it held in my forceps and "bliiiiiing!" . It went sailing off into the " wild brown yonder " of my carpet!! Oh well I just made another one. Around 20 minutes later I was back where i had started and painted it up. While I was at it I directed my attention to the brake booster check valve. It took me a little bit to think and come up with an idea but I think I've got it. I started with a bobby pin and cut the head off of it. Then I painted it up and installed it into the hole that I drilled yesterday in the brake booster. Here we are today with the check valve and the retainer installed and all painted up. I still have to brush a little gloss on the valve to replicate a plastic look but you get the idea................ Brake lines tomorrow.
  17. This thing is gonna look killer when it's done!
  18. I'm watchin' and learning and takin' notes ALL the way! I really dig the wire around the pulleys.
  19. Say....that engine block looks familiar! Lookin' forward to some parts flyin on this one. BTW Kevin: Thank you for looking in your storage in an attempt to help me out dude! Looky what I found on ebay for just under $20.00 to include shipping. And it's all molded in red too....... Just got it in the mail today!!!
  20. Thanks Gary and Dan! I'm just used to working in 1/48 scale and don't get this opportunity to detail this much and have enjoyed it so far. I miniature long needle nose pliers and PE benders to bend all the wire.
  21. Thanks Ira! Well today's update will be in the master cylinder area as mentioned previously. I got a piece of that copper wire from the fuel pump relay donor and went to work. Although it's unpainted, here's the results, Still a little tweaking to do but there for the most part. I'll be painting this and finishing it off late today or tomorrow morning. It took about 3 different tries to get it this far. Brake lines are next and then the brake booster vacuum fitting and line.
  22. Thanks Bruce for the encouragement! I'll see if I can get it posted fairly soon.
  23. Dang Mike I dunno what to say except thanks for such a compliment (and the laugh). I do feel like you all here have largely benefited me. I may take what I see and twist it into an idea that will work especially if I lack the tools or skill set that I don't currently have yet. My goal during a build is simple: I compete with only myself and my past work to get better than I was before. If I happen to bring something to the table that somebody can use then that's a good thing but make no mistake, it is all of you good folks here who are helping me. Thanks pal, Joe
