  1. You can go MM Zinc Chromate but like Rich said you gotta watch tha brightness. Prime the cockpit area a black color first and then spray the Zinc Chromate in layers until you get the shade you want. Or you could shoot the MM Zinc Chromate and apply light coats of dark wash until you get the shade you want. With either method its 6 in one 1/2 a dozen in the other. No worries on the pressure. I just enjoy watching WWII warbird builds that's all.
  2. The creativity is just first class here Dan!
  3. Yes!!!!!!! This is totally awesome!!!
  4. Much better Jeremy! I'll be watchin' this one....................close!
  5. Thanks Jeremy. Believe me.....a lot of times I'm surprised myself. lol Funny you should ask that Pat. If you work on or are around cars much , you have a stockpile of this stuff. I have a stash of fuel pump relays from the GM dealership days laying around. I crack 'em open and walah! You have a whole mini roll of it: I had used it in making the spark plug wires for my Bandai 1/48 BMW R75 build not too long ago. This was a good build but I recently acquired the Tamiya 1/48 version that has truer to scale wheel spokes (the wheel spokes and that "up armored" rear licence plate holder were my only regret about this build looking back-but then again , hindsight is 20/20 when your looking back....lol ). The whole thing is just under 2" long..........
  6. Well you said............ It doesn't look like much yet but I've got a method here. Although you can't see it these wires are fused together by a bead of superglue. My aim is that once I paint all this up that 1.) The wires will have more of a "taped together" or fused "look" and 2.) hide the minor boo-boo caused by the super glue run-off at the horn. Most of this morning was spent in research and mapping out how I'm going to pull this off . I drilled a hole in the firewall just to the right side of the brake booster where the electrical harness breakout is. I'm going really slow with all of this so I only have to attempt this electrical harness thing once. I don't know how detailed I'll get with it but we'll see how it goes................
  7. Thank you all very much! To the statement Buzz made......................................I know........lol
  8. I spent some time in the engine bay this morning masking off the washer fluid bottle and painting that up. Still have a little work to do to that before I post anything on that though. I did, however, start working on that horn. As mentioned earlier I robbed a horn from a Mustang kit I had and was going to use it but I just couldn't bring myself to use it as it was................... So I cut the molded in mount off of it and cut a strip of spare PE I had then super glued it in place on the horn: and painted the whole assy. Waiting for the paint to dry now.......... It's not exactly like the real thing but it's a helluva lot closer than it was that's for sure! lol
  9. Now that's some good modeling right there Sonny!!
  10. Good stuff Bobby!
  11. The paint on those wheels looks good Dan!
  12. Man! Thanks a lot Bill!!! Lot's good references! Daniel:You're tellin' me on the far cry? Ha Ha Ha! It's a far cry from what I thought I was going to do with it originally! lol Thanks for the encouragement bud. Carl:Thank you kindly sir!
  13. After sniffin' around in the garage stash I finally found a horn in one of my old Monogram Mustang kits, cut it from the core support, cleaned it up and primer coated it. After that I moved on to the tires to finish them up. I mixed up some MM Flat Acrylic coat cut with 70% ISO and shot the tire sides. I've never been keen on that glossy Armor All tire shine so the result was perfect for me. Here are before and after results with one of the tires: and finally all four tires and wheels....
  14. Been there..........done that! Looking forward to your return Joe.
  15. I'm no Cobra expert but I think they are awesome cars. Lookin' forward to the build. These are more photography based and are of a replica but are shots I would use in a build. Refine your search criteria to 427 AC Cobra build to get more shots. See if this helps you out in getting you started Andy: http://cobracountry.com/images-B4afters/CobraPhotos-DunRite.html
  16. Lemme check the "deep freeze" stash and see what I've got......I know I don't have a Charger but I'll poke around a bit and see. Thanks anyway James!
  17. Beeeeeaauuutiful bird!!! Need reference pics? I have the Aero Detail #21 book on this puppy.
  18. For being a flat color this build is a clean build Andy!! I hope when I build mine and gloss it that it comes out half this good. Thumbs up all the way man.
  19. That thing should be monster in size!!! Good luck on the entry here and let us know how it turns out.
  20. Thanks Tim and Fred! Dangit! I'm gonna have to rob a horn from another kit! lol
  21. I'll be looking at that Pat. Thanks man! I'll have to look at the face book end of it later on because of "big brother " watching here at work.
