  1. Keep at it Jason. I may extend the deadline some. I have some room with this one pal. No problem Danny.
  2. Man I hate that Justin! If your luck is like mine you'll find it two builds down the line. lol . Lookin' good here BTW.
  3. Heya Richard. Thats exactly what I did with mine too. Worked like a charm. I gave the wing a little extra support. I'll go into that tomorrow. It's beddybye time for tonight. Got a big day tomorrow! lol
  4. Thanks JT! You know this build was a complete nightmare for me but it was a good victory at the end because I didn't think I was going to be able to finish this thing at all. As a matter of fact it ended up in the trash can twice!!! Here's a couple of shots of the wing fit (which both wings gave me ALL the trouble) and this "hinge hole" along with the nasty gap! and this stuff!!!
  5. Thanks again Eric! Not one of my more pristine builds and I still have to do a couple of things to it after looking at it a while but overall I'm happy. I'll build another one of these in the future with some PE spokes though. lol
  6. Thanks Eric!! Lemme know when you tackle a Luftwaffe build. I've got plenty of reference material.
  7. Thanks Dan! Carl:Thanks and I'll have a pic of that Sharpie posted later on. I got it from Hobby Lobby of all places. Monty: The advice is appreciated very much. I'll give that a shot with the sandpaper. I'll be revisiting the toothpick idea again as I tried it at the time of painting and it was hit or miss on getting the excess white out of the "holes" of the letters. I'll try sharpening one up a bit now that the paint has dried and cured out a bit. Thanks bud.
  8. Voltage regulator painted and wired up. Now I just have to find some 48th scale stenciling decals laying around in my stash to put some lettering on this thing and gloss it over once.
  9. This is looking great so far Joe! I went from 48th scale stuff up to 24/25th scale and the amount of potential detail increased by 50%. The potential for detail in a 1/12 would be sensory overload for me! Looks like you're setting up to do this one alot of justice!!!
  10. I've reached that point with a couple of my builds here and there Danny and understand the dilema. Youre still doing a good job on this kit though.
  11. Thanks Dan and Tom. With the time that all the detail in consuming I'll probably be on this thing for another two to three months!!! lol Joe:Thanks man! I just couldn't help myself once I got started. lol . I do TONS of research when I build so I don't leave anything to imagination. Cars I've found are alot easier in that regard because for the most part there's plenty of examples and the reference photos are plentiful. I'm having alot of fun with just that aspect alone. Jeff:Thanks you sir! I haven't gotten into the resin copying yet. Maybe I'll drift that way the longer I keep my position as plastic surgeon of the house! lol
  12. Awesome garage and awesome fabrication Richard.
  13. That'd be the way I'd do it. That's a clean 1:1 ride you've got there from the looks of that interior Pat.
  14. I did some detail painting in the engine compartment this morning but need to do some touch up so while the paint was drying there I switched over to the tires. I got ahold of Joe at fireball and rather than sell me something decal wise , he gave me the idea for an acrylic fine point white Sharpie at HL to paint them with. I'll be doing business with this guy because you just don't find folks everywhere in the market world who aren't in it for every dollar they can stand......and then some. The acrylic pen idea worked. I still have to apply a light dull coat over the tires for a true tire "look" but I'm sure happy with the results so far:
  15. That's a good idea Tom! I was thinking of a dark (maybe black) wash on the ribbed scuff plate and then make sure the top of the ribs are rubbed off nice and clean. I don't remember the top of the ribs being shiny so maybe paint the whole scuff plate "aluminum" and then apply the wash.
  16. This is different. I'll be in on this one Ray and great mock up so far! Colors.......................white with the dual red stripes down the middle maybe? I've seen that set up on the II's and it looks cool to me.
  17. Thanks Dan , Lee and Gerald!!!!
  18. Man Pat! Looks like more fabrication on the way! Cool! I can't help but notice that the convertible you have pictured has the deluxe brushed aluminum panels on the dash inserts and the finned aluminum door scuff plates but the front seats seem to be standard seats. I do know the parts for the deluxe seating was getting pretty tough to find when I was restoring mine...................and pricey!
  19. This is intense Dan! Good goin!
  20. Now that's a good spot for it! Looks great!
  21. I 'member Miles! I've seen you around in the "On the Workbench" section alot. I've been trying to get myself somewhat established out in the mainstream these days as well as being here. Lookin' forward to the progress!
  22. Well last night I was looking at my engine compartment and comparing it to the references I have and bam! It hit me! I didn't have the cowl and the side strips at the fender/engine compartment border painted black! Oh man! I got up early again this morning and masked everything off and corrected that and then installed the windshield wiper motor area onto the firewall. Here's the wiper motor area before installation with the light wash still in the process of drying. and here is the corrected cowl and side strip area with the motor assy installed onto the firewall.......... Now for the voltage regulator................................
  23. At times I have my doubts but I'm plugging away at it anyways. Thanks for the mental boost Tom!
  24. Man I hear that. Down here in "hell" it doesn't get near that cold. Hopefully the weather will warm up for you there Jason!
