  1. Saw a hot rodded mid '50's Ford cab over truck.
  2. Welcome back to modeling. Everything you need is right here, parts, kits, tools answers and inspiration.
  3. Spotted a Cobra Daytona Coupe on U.S. 33 on the way home from Columbus,Ohio this afternoon. That is the only one I have seen anywhere. Very cool.
  4. Thanks Bill, I thought it was probably something like that. Not too difficult to replicate either and those copper lines really pop against dark engine block colors.
  5. Possibly the description of the item under which they are imported could be changed. My friend of mine from Canada told me that when he visits toy shows in the states and buys model kits he declares them as "kits" at customs on re-entry to Canada. That description will not cause customs to charge you any import tax. For some reason some folks from there call kits "sets" and declaring them "sets" will cause customs ding you for a 30 percent (!) import tax at the border. Our readers from north of the border might want to keep that in mind in the future.
  6. Ok forums model T gurus....what are the three copper lines running to and from that crank driven device in the front? it seems like the more engine of this genre I see the more variations reveal themselves.
  7. On this beautiful memorial day I saw a '53 Cadillac hardtop in a light powder blue, a Chevy SSR, a triple black Vette ZO6 and a first gen Mustang rag top. Not bad for west central Ohio.
  8. My main concern is not the kits as I am in the process of selling most of them. I am wondering about the future of the built models I have spent thousands of hours crafting over the last 60 years. Our son wants a couple that he remembers watching me creating and my largest diorama is of a local landmark which I want to go to our local historical museum. The rest, who knows their fate.
  9. I know what you mean. My mom died almost 30 ago.
  10. You should probably consider adding some serious suspension upgrades for replicating a T that has to travel 5,000 miles. I would also add a period tool box and multiple spare tires already mounted on their rims for quick on the fly repairs. To withstand 5K of pounding on bad roads I would run disc wheels instead if the wooden factory spokes. Be sure to keep us posted on your choices and progress with the project. This should be fun to watch!
  11. Setting up a new model room is a big job for sure. When you already have a dedicated model space and you add to it gradually it's easier than a complete clean out and reorganization. Good luck, you'll love it when it's all done.
  12. You could always call your mom you know!
  13. Ambitious project and, well done. Thanks for sharing.
  14. I don't know how to post to the forums or trust me I'd be all over it. I'll gladly email you photo if you PM me your email address.
  15. I spent a whole $ 1.27 at the UPS store today and in 15 minutes later I had the perfect '47 trailer license plate in 1/25 scale. Could not be easier. Thanks to everyone for their help.
  16. Nice to see more rods finished and displayed. Thanks for sharing.
  17. I only Thought my display case was full !
  18. I personally talked with him a few weeks ago at the Cincinnati Challenge model contest. He told me he sometimes gets over a hundred emails per day(!) so don't be too disappointed if you don't hear back from him via that method.
  19. Sounds like I need to pay a visit to the UPS store again. Thanks Kurt!
  20. I just completed a scratch built 1947 travel trailer and want to add an accurate license plate as a final detail. I have a real '47 Ohio trailer license plate in my collection and would like to photograph it for that purpose. I do not have the computer skills to manipulate it to the correct size. I seem to remember seeing a hint several years ago for producing a 1/25 size plate by fastening it to a wall then taking a picture from a specific distance then having a print made. Any suggestions? The trailer I built is a '47 Great Western Deluxe 16'. Anyone interested in seeing it can PM me their email address and I'll send you some pix. Thanks in advance.
