Roadkill's '68 Dodge Charger "General Mayhem"
JTalmage replied to JTalmage's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Most of the parts below I found out last night belong to the Revell '67 GTX.... and so that leaves me with a lot of missing parts for this charger unfortunately So far, I'm missing the interior tub, interior side panels, steering column and wheel, and one front wheel-back. Kinda depressing.I'll have to scour the interwebz and see if I can find some parts on ebay. -
I've had this for a bit, but I'm pretty proud of it. Although I'm not sure how to make it not be clear, but still showcase the orange flake ... thinking maybe an orange flake paint from behind?

I saw that too! I was a little depressed that someone already beat me to it! But mine will be a little more correct. -

Thanks, I need to get back over to my buddy's house where I do my model building and see if I have a 727 Torqueflite that fits the revell 440 engine... I cant remember if I do! I might need some random parts for this car as many have been lost over the years so I'm sure I'll be posting wanted ads. -

I would like to find that kit myself! Although I'd be very tempted to chop the roof on it!

My favorite episode was the Raunchero episodes... They actually even quoted me in the magazine when it came out lol -
So here it is... I was waiting to start this one, but I just cant wait til my '55 Chevy gasser is done... Anyway, it started life out as a Revell Dick Landy's '68 Dodge Charger. My friend got out of model building years ago and gave me everything he had. This included a LOT of poorly built cars that someone tried to build when he was out of town, broken cars, and unbuilt cars. Amongst them was the '55 Chevy that I started, and this Charger which was started and unfinished. The parts are a mix of the parts from this kit and the '67 Coronet kit, and whatever else he gave me... which was a LOT of extra stuff. I'll try and snap a pic of that stuff soon. So, to preface the build, I'm a big fan of Hot Rod Magazine, and they do youtube videos called Roadkill which are freaking awesome... so, they did a video recently of them building an extremely bare bones, Mad Max inspired '68 dodge charger that was built to handle anything... and here it is in all of it's awesomeness!

Sweet! I'll be building a '68 Dodge Charger. Dumb question though.... does it have to take all 11 months? What if I finish in 2? Sorry for the dumb questions.... new here still.

I'm a little confused, but am interest in playing along... I read the first page but don't understand how this works... is it too late to join the game? Edit: OK, I've reread the first page... makes much more sense now... just build a car that was produced prior to '79.... that sounds easy. Is it too late to join the fun though?

Cold weather irks me. I'm sick of it. I want to work on my 1:1 cars... I've got tooooo much to do to them. I need to exercise... but I hate doing it indoors... so I like riding my bike... cant do it in cold/nasty weather. ugh.

Yeah last I remember you got yourself a foxbody coupe! I'm Stangman on there, but that username was taken on here. Funny how we ran into each other on a completely different forum. lol

I have a bad time with projectitis too... Except I seem to like rebuilding old wrecks and gluebombs more than put new kits together for some reason... yet I keep buying new kits. I'm just as bad w/ model cars as I am the real thing... I've got 4 project cars, and I like to tinker w/ my daily driver truck too...

I remember playing the original Car & Driver's "The Need for Speed" when it came out, and I was playing it on my Sega Saturn... that was a short lived system... man I thought those were awesome graphics back then. Need for Speed III was my favorite for a LONG time. Dont care much for the NFS series now. Dont even like the new Gran Turismo. I'm hooked on Grand Theft Auto 5, and Red Dead Redemption. Rockstar is pretty much my favorite game creator at this point.

I'll try it w/o soap and see what I get. Water was straight from the tap city water, I'll try bottled as well and see if I can get different results. I dont have any pics at the moment. I do all my building in my friend's basement and our schedules vary.

Frog Tape. works well for me soo far. -
I am using acrylic paint now. Mixing with water, and a bit of soap. Leaves a residue, and specks. I have to lick my finger to and rub the car to "break it loose" and then try to wipe it down to get it off the car. I'm going to have to just look in to getting some detailer. This is kinda frustrating.

55 cameo
JTalmage replied to Mkslow's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I really want to build another one of these. I built one many years ago as a kid w/ my dad, and painted nothing on it lol -
Anyone have any suggestions as to why it doesnt wipe away like I would think it should? It's really thinned and still difficult to wipe away residual color.
