  1. Gorgeous build just tuck that right exhaust pipe up a bit to match the left and it's perfect!
  2. Took pictures of the kit on Thursday but finally got around to getting the photos uploaded of my unstarted kit (I have a bad feeling about how this is going already! lol)
  3. Testors brown bottle paint and a regular testors brush. wiped on liberally and wiped where needed. Also Tamiya weathering powder. For the clumpy stuff... not so sure. Maybe some bondo thats trying to harden? then crumble it and glue in place? just a thought.
  4. Seen this years ago and it still cracks me up!!
  5. Thats exactly what I ended up getting at the hobby shop! Although Ive been looking at getting a revell 66 el camino to cut up. We will see. I mainly want it for the roof
  6. Gorgeous!!! what do you make your leaf springs and brackets from?
  7. I might also stop by the hobby shop tonight to see if I can find something to use as a bed floor.
  8. I just want to create a stock '69 Ranchero.
  9. I've decided that I want to try and create a '69 Ford Ranchero. I have a Torino fastback body that I'm going to cut up. But before I get started does anyone have any tips on making "new" body panels? IE: rear of cab, inside bed area and tailgate? I have a general idea but always looking for pointers. I'm also going to try and shorten the wheelbase 3 scale inches. Which is what... 3MM?
  10. Your hands/wrists will hurt for a while. The more you play the better they feel. I don't play nearly enough (because I suck at learning) and my hands hurt each time I start playing a lot. However I have a whole lot easier time playing my stand up bass... easier on my hands and wrists... but my finger tips hurt!
  11. Ha! That's true. I forgot about that. I didnt really see it as a downside at the time I was playing with one. But good call.
  12. Ovation is nice for that round back, doesn't feel like its cutting into your gut or arm if you're sitting down and playing. Depending on the size of your hand, you may want to find something with a thinner style "D" neck instead of a thicker "C" neck. (someone at the guitar shop oughta know what you're talking about) Definitely go and play with some. I have an Epiphone AJ acoustic. Got it for $100 at a second hand store and its brand new.. I think it's an AJ-100 or maybe an AJ-220... but I can't remember now. But it's a nice piece. Plays great and stays in tune nicely. It's kinda of a big body and can be cumbersome to play sitting down certain ways. An acoustic is nice for a starter because you dont have to drop all the money for the electric guitar equipment just to make noise. I also like my Squire Bullet (Fender Stratocaster) it's light, comfy and you can get them cheap. And sometimes you can find a little pocket amp or cube to play thru and go nuts on.
  13. I'm getting close to 200 unbuilts... not sure how many rebuilders.. but it's getting bad lol
  14. I can't believe I missed this thread so far! Anyway, I know I've completely and utterly failed at the last 2 Cannonballs I've been in... but maybe the 3rd time is a charm. Count me in w/ a 1980 Ford Bronco. No pics yet but I have the kit at home... will get pics up.
  15. I have a feeling I am going to need one now too
  16. I'd totally buy that 63 Wagoneer kit.. it's such an odd looking vehicle!
  17. I also have this oddball thing that looks exactly a Hot Rod series kit... but it's a double kit... same wording and everything except the hot rod logo.
  18. I like the idea so far. And your engine details look better than mine did when I was 12 lol
  19. That is absolutely gorgeous! Great job
  20. It's literally so easy, it's like posting on this forum. PM me sometime and I can teach you with screenshots.
  21. Well heck. Back in 2012. I would have never found it LOL
  22. The Hot Rod-licensed series Which apparently I forgot to list my own '54 Chevy in my original post. lol
  23. I thought this might be a fun thread. How many Hot Rod Magazine-licensed kits existed? I know some of them are pretty basic kits and not all that well casted but fun kits in my opinion... even though most of em had those 2 piece tires haha! I can think of a few: Mustang II Cobra Street machine Monza street machine '69 Mustang Cobra Jet 26 Touring T Willy's pickup What else existed?
  24. I really like the older style valvecovers on it now
