  1. That old body would be pretty cool to beat up and make rusty like an abandoned shell!
  2. Ha, glad you got a kick out of that! physically my old lamp is still in fantastic shape, it's very old so there was no doubt it wouldn't physically last... just that the switch is plastic... and with a 75 watt bulb, apparently the heat cycles were too much for it in it's recent years. I used this lamp years ago as a kid for 10 years with no issues. But it only lasted me 3 years since I started building again.
  3. I got a new lamp. My old drafting lamp's switch has died for the 2nd time. The first time I revived it w/ some Zap-A-Gap surprisingly! but it's broken again (lasted a few months!) so it's time to retire it and find a new drafting lamp...
  4. Saw this googling something completely different.... and stumbled across it. Neat pics, even though there's absolutely no backstory of how they got there. http://veryinterestingautomotive.blogspot.com/2013/02/wrecked-cars-turned-into-coral-reefs-30.html
  5. Just finished this, it's 1 of 3 builds for an upcoming club theme... It was very fiddly and was sort of difficult to get to stay together. Thank goodness for super glue! I am leaving the entire top/sides unglued from the chassis for photo purposes. This was the trailer I attempted to spray with aluminum plate metalizer... and it was a real bear to buff out. Well, after I finished this I experimented with some BARE plastic parts.. and they buffed beautifully. Oh well, lesson learned. So since this thing was being a real bear, I took my red 3M scuff pad and scuffed it for that "brushed" look. The wheels are resin units I got off ebay from "hoppersbazaar" and they're really nice. I painted those in model masters chrome brush on paint. The tires are ironically the stock tires to the Revell '67 Camaro that I turned into the Crusher! And they fit the wheel backs fairly well and match with the wheels too. I hit the textured area of the trailer floor with some tamiya weathering powder silver to make it look like the black paint on the floor had worn thru. Hadn't done it yet to the trailer ramps. I also haven't glued on the front cargo box either. I'll take pictures when the entire race team is finished. Also haven't glued on the handles to the doors yet, nor the trailer lights/license plates... soon Took a moment to give a photo opp to the Crusher as well to see how out of scale this trailer really is LOL I also found several of my favorite race banners you'd see at the track and scaled them down close to 1/25 scale, and glued them on the walls inside the trailer. Gives it a more realistic touch I think. Also stuffed a Mustang inside too for a couple pics. Let me know what you think!
  6. Well, I was going to do an axle swap on the Bronco but in talking to a friend of mine who is big into F-series trucks and broncos he advised me to stick with the stock front setup. Being that the monogram castings are pretty basic I'm now looking at how I can lift the suspension and still get it to look good. (since the suspension is molded in 1 piece and hollow on the back side!)
  7. Welcome fellow Ohioan!
  8. I had messaged him on facebook about something a long, long time ago and was going thru old messages and noticed his profile no longer existed... maybe went off the grid?
  9. Anyone ever swapped the Monogram '80 Bronco over to a solid axle front suspension? What are the best axles to look for, and what are the best place to look for parts to make this look as legitimate as possible? suspension.. axles... steering... etc? I know very little about truck suspensions myself... so maybe there's sites I've not seen before? Also planned to raise it up a bit for larger tires
  10. Thanks for answering my questions on Facebook yesterday. Hoping to place an order soon for my monogram Bronco... baja belted and pacer wheels! Should look good together! Just can't decide 5 or 6 lug!
  11. I haven't touched my Bronco yet... I've been doing some research on suspension and looking into wheel/tire combos.
  12. Good idea on making the nose separate.... soo difficult getting the whole chassis and interior in the original body is a pain.
  13. Looks great! I built the same kit last year in two tone and they look good all painted and foiled!
  14. Gorgeous work! What do you use to define your panel lines?
  15. Great looking builds!
  16. Is it just me or does anyone else want to make them rusty to complete their "look" haha
  17. I tried bmf... and it looked great until the panel bowed in (since the ends are curved ) which it then became wrinkle city and I wasteda half sheet of bmf. I said forget it and took my red scuff pad gently to it and now it as a brushed aluminum effect. Good enough.... not going thru that again any time soon. And yes, everyone, it was a buffing metalizer
  18. That is the culmination of about 30mins worth of buffing.
  19. So I was talking to a coworker about this today and he thought I might try a buffing wheel at low speed on a dremel... might give it a shot
  20. I tried a microfiber towel at first and couldnt put enough friction to it because of that. So then I switched to a paper towel and started getting results. But there's a fine line between too much and not enough... and it's very tiring and gets rather warm! I'll post a picture... just a sec.
  21. On a '32, I like the 3 window.... but on a '30-'31.... I'll take a 5 window all day long.
