  1. So I didn't want to make yet another workbench thread since I havent finished anything I've started lately, but I felt this one is close enough to completion that I'd feel ok about it. I think that's my problem... I like to start workbench threads more than I like actually finishing things. I'm working on that. I'm going to try and not post as many build threads until most of my work is finished. I've now told myself I have to finish all my unfinished business before starting ANY new kits. So, first order of business is a kit I started when I was a teen. I screwed the paint up pretty bad. I wanted to paint it black but testors nozzles are junk. Needless to say I was young and didnt have a clue about the purple pond trick. I ordered a new body and then lost interest. Fast forward to now. I saw a member's thread recently w/ the green 56 tow car, and the red primer 55 gasser. Really inspired me to finish this one. I wanted to make mine something similar. Primered paint and slicks but felt that would be copying his a little too much. Also I didnt want to get caught up in trying to make different wheels and tires fit this car. Wanted something simple and straight forward. So thats what I did. So here's the body as it was in the parts box. I was going to make it like the box art but had a heck of a time w/ the interior getting it red and not showing the black back thru (before I understood how primer worked!) I used the wheels and tires that this kit came for another car so that left me with no wheels... luckily I had enough foresight to buy a gluebomb off ebay with good wheels and tires... So I used them and shot them with a little flat clear to make them look aluminum Shot the body in filler primer and then worked out any bad spots (there was a pretty bad one by the gas door!) Colors to be... Hit it with a base of Tamiya Racing white.. which is beautiful but takes MANY coats over gray primer Taped it off and shot it with Tamiya Coral Blue... which is just gorgeous in the sun but not so much indoors. Shot the interior in white then masked off the areas to stay white, followed it with coral blue, then flat clear. Also showing the flat chrome wheels. Brought it in and pulled the tape off. Looks pretty good!
  2. I like where this is heading
  3. Hey, the old bronco! good to see it again. I dig what you've done so far. Always wanted to make a dio... never had the space
  4. I've always been a photobucket user. There was a time when they updated their format that I didn't like it and refused to log in. But it's became user friendly again. Funny though... I was only 15 percent full on my free storage before. I joined this forum.... now I'm 35 percent lol!!!! Oh, and Fotki is blocked at work for some reason.... which is highly annoying.
  5. Love it!!!
  6. Too many beautiful hot rods in this thread already. I'm going on overload here! Love em!!!!!
  7. I like riding my bicycle... but I just dont even feel the motivation to do that anymore. I think I need to force myself to do that too. Maybe I'll feel better.
  8. Nailed it. I go in to my projects w/ an intent to do well and make things nice and plan them out... then I get out there, get mad at something, curse at it, drink beer and just sorta wing it. So far so good! But when I'm working on someone elses vehicle I try to be as professional and thorough as possible.
  9. It definitely doesnt help when a paintjob turns to BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH and I have to put it in the pond and make the whole process take days longer.
  10. Wow that looks great
  11. Thats a good looking build. By the way, has someone been swinging on that engine in the background? LOL
  12. Google Ebay Facebook here I find that simply typing in "resin model car parts" in google will give you bountiful results.
  13. Friend of mine lived on a farm back when we were in 5th grade, and he was helping disc the field and his brother was driving the tractor and he was standing on the disc and got his boot/pants caught in it. Yanked him in and broke is leg in 3 places backwards. Almost killed him had his brother not heard him. Was in a wheelchair almost a year and was told he may not walk on that leg or even drive again. Was on crutches for about another 6 months... but, sure enough he is doing everything they told him he couldnt do. Like it never happened.
  14. I do have about 5 commission builds to do, and a P40E airplane... maybe those will be my redeeming builds.
  15. I used to be able to bang out very decent looking models in under a week... back when I was still in high school. I'd get home from school and go straight to the desk. Now I get home from work... and veg out. Guess it comes with getting older too. I'm lucky I can finish 1 kit a year now. I should be able to finish 1 kit in less than a month with my past history. I NEED to thin my stash and get them built. Otherwise I'm just hoarding.
  16. I think you're right. Part of me wants to build. The other part of me wants to enjoy the nice weather. And yes, definitely about the 1:1 projects. Before I got a desk job and was more active, and a few pounds lighter I was always out working on stuff. I've definitely slowed down over the past 8 years. No fun! But when I went out the other day to install my coil overs, once I got started... progress was definitely being made! I've done soooo much work to my '88 Mustang. It was a basket case (still is) but it's entering the stretch of where I can actually enjoy working on it and getting the body straight and pretty and painted so I can reassemble it. My Lincoln is almost back together too. I try to look forward to how I'll feel when theyre done... but its a long time coming.
  17. I can't seem to finish anything. 1:1 or scale. It's like I've got no drive. I get jazzed up about a new project then lose all ambition. I still buy kits with an intent to build... but i'll be honest... the last thing I finished building was my AMT Barracuda. And that was like last year! I think I love starting a new kit more than finishing it. It seems my intent to make my models more detailed and accurate has driven my productivity and ambition down to the pits. I see all these beautiful builds here and it's truly inspiring and makes me want to do better when building, and even make awesome customs... but I apparently don't have the focus any more. Even on my 1:1 projects... I've got 3 mustangs and a Lincoln. I haven't worked on any of them in a while. Most recent thing was I put a coil over drag spring setup on the front of my '88 Mustang. That's it. Am I burned out? How could I tell? Anyone else have this problem? How do you combat it??? Lately all I've done when I get home is eat dinner and watch Netflix til I go to bed. I put away all my Model A stuff too... drug out a '55 Chevy gasser (black monogram kit) Maybe I just need a slump buster to get me going again??
  18. cant wait to see it done!
  19. I mean anyone who's built any revell or amt charger I'm sure secretly wanted to have every year of Charger in scale form on their shelf. I know I do. I dont know the differences between 66 and 67, but having a 67, 68, 69, 70, and 71 is already cool. Plus to have a 72-74 resurface in the plastic world would be cool too. I have a 74 awaiting a rebuild.
  20. Holy freaking cow... amazing stadium truck chassis, and baja bug^^^
  21. If this turns out really nice it would be cool to have it casted if a resin body doesnt exist.
  22. I dont know enough about these cars to offer anything constructive as they arent my cup of tea, but you doing nice work to them. I like the little silver one though kinda Porsche looking
  23. Gorgeous!
