  1. I came across a video online of the accident and it appears there were witnesses and people alongside and in the road watching cars leave the event. Sadly this time speed and a spectator was in the road and appears to have caused the driver to swerve and lose control. My heart goes out to the friends and families of the couple that lost their lives in the accident.
  2. Just a few days ago on vacation in Arizona with my son, daughter and wife. We also stopped by to see Cobraman to check out his awesome models and diecast collection.
  3. Looking good. I had not noticed the black strip unti you pointed it out. I may have to go back and fix mine.
  4. Rode my bike past Braman exotic car dealer.
  5. Thanks for posting and keep them coming. As you mentioned before resin casting it was more difficult to modify a kit to make a unique version. JC (aka AFX) built one of the HRM kits a while back.
  6. Wow - close to 1,000 pictures if my math is right. Looked like an amazing show for the last one. I hope the museum finds a home which will be accessible to modelers around the USA and located somewhere that has other attractions to encourage more visitors.
  7. Got mine yesterday.
  8. Well they have to cover those high management salaries somehow.
  9. After test fitting the roll cage and some sanding it seems to fit pretty good. The roll cages in the AMT kit are a joke so I used the one from the MPC kit.
  10. You’re welcome. It was an older restoration but the black paint still looked great.
  11. I used to get up at 4am to make the drive to NNL East from VA. I miss going to the shows in VA, MD, PA, OH and NJ.
  12. The newer 67 GT350 chassis and engine compartment is definitely an upgrade. I cannot remember if the 65-66 Hipo or standard 289 2 or 4 bbl) cars had the transverse muffler or had dual mufflers.
  13. I have not worked on this on for a while so it’s time to figure out a plan. Instead of using the kit engine which looks to be a 428, I’ll dig out a Boss 302 engine and add whatever extra details I can. I was unsure about which color of minilite wheels to use as pictures from difference races show white or aluminum or different for the front and rear wheels. The interior will have the roll bar and whatever leftover parts I had from the 70 T/A Mustang build. The front grille on the race car looks like it’s mesh as I’m sure they would not have used the plastic stock one with the turn signals. The front bumper was the smaller chrome sized one but could have very well been a lighter aluminum one to save weight.
  14. https://members.fotki.com/mofobow/about/ As far as I know. I ordered some sets about a year ago and got them with no issues.
  15. Very true but it requires a lot of modifications which is worth for a much more accurate chassis and engine compartment.
  16. I’ve been there. I have painted the engine compartment semi-gloss black on some 79 and later Mustang models and go back and look at pictures of the real ones and realize they were body color.
  17. Very nice build and paint color choices. I do wish Round2 two would make a few changes and substitute the 68 Shelby chassis and forever get rid of the promo style underside with molded in exhaust and rear end and front suspension. At least we did finally get a nice 66 fastback body though which I hope drives down the instance collector prices for original kits. They might as well do a convertible version too since the majority of the kit would be the same as the 66 coupe that has been reissued numerous times in the last 55 years.
  18. Yes I would agree.
  19. This got me to thinking if one could build a similar MKI with a Fujumi kit and decals. It’s one of those I know I have seen that before moments so after some searching I would say yes although Gary’s build represents chassis P1038. I guess I got hooked on GT40’s when 1/43 kits made in England and France and the old IMC/Testors/Aurora kits were the only game in town. I did find the CMA kit on Ebay but after using a Fujumi or Revell donor chassis you would be almost $200 out of pocket before the build began.
  20. Here’s another Mustang I wanted to finish and it reminded me once again why I look forward to the Revell Boss 351 and the variations that will be possible to build. This body and chassis and interior are from an MPC kit and the hood and wheels are resin cast. Since the kit does not have an engine that even looks like a 351C, I searched through some other kits and found a suitable replacement from an 1984 Mustang kit that I knew would require some modification to make it fit as it has the correct automatic transmission and not 1/2 of a manual trans provided with the 289 engine in the MPC kit. Investing more time in this build to correct things like the incorrect mufflers or trying to make the engine compartment more realistic is just not worth the extra effort. I did add some rear shocks as it just looked silly with 1/4 of a shock molded next to the leaf springs. I probably have a set of 1/25 CA license plates somewhere but I have to look for them. Comments and questions are always welcome.
  21. This build I am 95% done with reminds me of my the Revell kit that is coming out will be a huge improvement over either the AMT or MPC kits. I started this one with a MPC kit, resin flare hood, engine from a 84 Mustang only because it resembles a 351C better then the choices in the 71-73 kits (428, 289 or Boss 429) none of which came in Mustangs those years despite what was the kit box art claims. The wheels are resin and I should probably used the AMT ones from that kit. I said to heck with trying to replicate a dual with mufflers because who knows if Halicki went with cherry bombs instead. I did not add the thin black stripes above the black paint on the bottom but I did use the decals from the latest Round 2 kit for the side marker lights. I need to add the hood pins which are in a different location than the factory “twist locks” on cars with the ram air option. The info online about the two movie cars is pretty slime and I have never seen pictures of the engine compartment or what VIN the cars were born with. The other car that was repainted to look like the one that got all smashed up in the movie has never surfaced and supposedly destroyed for mysterious reasons despite only being used for the up close shots and the famous car wash scene. Anyway my apologies for tagging onto the thread but I thought it would be easier to post it here as there is some good reference info on this thread if anyone wants to go through the pain of trying to replicate the original Eleanor. One last thing, the car had an automatic transmission so I’m guessing either an FMX or C6. I cannot think of any 65-73 Mustang kit that has a non-manual transmission even though you may not find a clutch pedal on the floor of the interior bucket. ?
  22. Nicely done with all the modifications to make the build much more realistic.
  23. Ebay has had the search function for decades where you can see identical items sorted by price low to high. I guess the seller thinks someone is not smart enough to figure that out.
  24. Very nice job on this cool cat.
  25. I found this UMI decal set in my stash which has the markings for the Sebring and Monza races. The fine print says they were printed by Cartograph.
