  1. Looking forward to seeing this build.
  2. I plucked the 1/43 kit I built man years ago out of the display case but I must have painted them at different times as the colors are quite different. The 1/43 is by Performance Detail products and was a very nice kit and it’s a shame that more 1/24 or 1/25 domestic kits do not come with photoetch parts. Thanks for all the nice comments everyone.
  3. The answers are funny but I would almost bet Yo Mama thinks we are all crazy and we amuse ourselves easily.
  4. I started this project back in the 1990’s as I wanted to build this car and at the time all there was available was the Boss 429 kit and Fred Cady decals. The body mods and paint was the easy part. After looking at nooks and magazines I realized the stock interior would be completely worthless and of course there wasn’t a good Boss 302 at that times so I put it away for a very long time. At some point I bought a diecast of a 69 Boss 302 TA and wondered if the interior would fit. With some creativity I go it to fit and i had a pretty good engine so I used the block and headers and other parts to replicate the 70 engine compartment which had a different air box. The wheels and tires are from Historic Racing Miniatures and decals are Fred Cady and my spares. Paint is Model Car World when they sold some colors in spray cans.
  5. Same goes for the Parts Wanted listing. A title of parts wanted without a description in the title is not very helpful.
  6. A Renault Torino made in Argentina and the “Ferrari” was the Ferris Bueller not a real Ferrari movie car was powered by a 302 Ford with a C4 automatic. Lots of info about the them below. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IKA-Renault_Torino https://www.collierautomedia.com/movie-cars-five-facts-about-that-ferrari-in-ferris-buellers-day-off
  7. Very cool as the usual stores like Target and Walmart usually do not sell Mijo exclusives. By the way what’s a newspaper? ?
  8. https://bfa.com/events/37932 I attended this show in Aventura yesterday and drove in the rally on Saturday. An interesting show with a mix of old muscle cars, classic cars, exotic cars, rare cars and a great setting. In South Florida it can be 60 or 80 in January but it was chilly in the morning but turned out to be a perfect day. Of note were celebrity judges Kat Delorean, Lyn St James, Tommy Kendall and many others. Here’s a few pictures I took and there are many more taken by the company BFA in the link posted above.
  9. Model shows are back after 2-3 year absence, the AMT 66 Mustang fastback kit should be out this year, and who knows maybe the Big Block Snake #1 decals will be ready too. ?
  10. Are you getting the decals from Pattos place?
  11. Thanks for posting to the forum. I was fortunate to see your collection many times and all your built ups and expanding diecast collection in your man cave.
  12. You are a lean mean model building machine. ? I wish I could be as motivated as you to build more but until I have room to display more built kits it is a shame to just put them away.
  13. Congratulations on a well executed replica and noticing and adding details that really make a difference. It’s a catch 22 in this scale as there are more things that can be added to make the difference between looking like a toy and a model but making it look “right” can be a challenge. When this kit came out I ordered some extra resin parts like the “spare” tire and distributor but I’ve yet to tackle the kit and I have the MENG one on the shelf also. You nailed this one despite the shortcomings. I remember these kits were in the $200 plus price range when they first came out but I’ve seen some for around only $100. ?
  14. Looks like a days buying at a model show and swap meet for some of us. ? I have not counted lately but probably around 400. I’ll finish them all if I live to 150. ? I guess I am fortunate that I primarily collect/build only four different cars (1/87 to 1/12) Ford Mustang (any year), Detomaso Pantera, Ford GT and GT40’s and Shelby Cobras. The outliers are a Shelby Series I, Cougar II, a few Apollo space kits and the Creature from the black Lagoon.
  15. Very nice build of a kit that is really hard to find these days. Nice looking Shelby also. Several years ago I built this fastback using a resin copy of the AMT body and a lot of parts from the 68 GT500 kit.
  16. Nice build but I would have to agree about the tires. Anytime I build something these days I always see how the tires looks and if they are too wide or narrow I look in my tire spares box for some that look and fit better.
  17. Looking forward to seeing how this turn out. Have you decided on a color yet?
  18. If you think the 427 was primitive then the early 289 leaf spring chassis's would shock you even more. It was 1950’s technology and it took a very skilled driver to guide the car around the track. Even with a coil spring set up the revised 289 was no match for a larger engine so the 427 chassis was redesigned to try to handle the extra torque and horsepower. I had FFR Cobra and despite a more modern suspension and “only” a 302 engine it was still a handful because the car was so light. I highly respect anyone that drives a real one or similar replica on the race track since the survival rate in a rollover accident is probably pretty low. Pictured is a real 427 that was being raced at the Sebring Historics last year.
  19. Nice representation of many real 66 fastbacks I’ve seen with some of the Shelby parts added. I do not recall if that kit came with Magnum 500 wheels but that is also another common upgrade on real 65-73 Mustangs.
  20. Looks like a cool project. If you get stuck maybe the guy on the right can answer questions. ?
  21. I can only recall ever seeing either a white roundel with a dark colored number on all of them except the cars painted white or a round black circle with a dark colored number on a white car.
  22. Sounds like you are off to a good start. Here’s a RCR GT40 replica which has some of the features you are replicating and it’s red and unlike all the MKII replica cars out there this one does not represent any specific car in a race like Daytona, Sebring or Lemans but was evidently used in the Ford vs. Ferrari movie.
  23. All three are winners. ? The #5 looks like a Fujumi kit and the other two based on MENG kits.
  24. Very nice builds. I built the Thunder Vally resin kit when the first Fujumi MKII kits came out which had a chassis suitable for the TV kit. I used some parts from the later Fujumi MKI kit to replicate a more complete engine than the plastic or resin kit.
  25. It sounds better than Rebox. ?
