  1. Nice representation of many real 66 fastbacks I’ve seen with some of the Shelby parts added. I do not recall if that kit came with Magnum 500 wheels but that is also another common upgrade on real 65-73 Mustangs.
  2. Looks like a cool project. If you get stuck maybe the guy on the right can answer questions. ?
  3. I can only recall ever seeing either a white roundel with a dark colored number on all of them except the cars painted white or a round black circle with a dark colored number on a white car.
  4. Sounds like you are off to a good start. Here’s a RCR GT40 replica which has some of the features you are replicating and it’s red and unlike all the MKII replica cars out there this one does not represent any specific car in a race like Daytona, Sebring or Lemans but was evidently used in the Ford vs. Ferrari movie.
  5. All three are winners. ? The #5 looks like a Fujumi kit and the other two based on MENG kits.
  6. Very nice builds. I built the Thunder Vally resin kit when the first Fujumi MKII kits came out which had a chassis suitable for the TV kit. I used some parts from the later Fujumi MKI kit to replicate a more complete engine than the plastic or resin kit.
  7. It sounds better than Rebox. ?
  8. As you surmised from the date this is the original Monogram kit that has been reissued in some different variations (street and SC and drag race) but has not really changed much. The most changes to the kit were the Fujumi versions which I would avoid if you want to replicate an original Cobra and not a later continuation series one.
  9. The V6 was a great engine and I’d buy one again over the eco boost but Ford does not offer them in a Mustang anymore. My wide drives my 2014 V6 convertible automatic and the car and engine have been trouble free with about 95,000 miles.
  10. 1972 Mach1 that I have owned since 1981. The model is an Otaki 1/24 motorized kit with opening doors but the hood does not open. I built the model before I added the rear spoiler. The yacht is not mine. ? I recently scanned a lot of color prints from the 80s-90s.. Here’s a screen shot of them in my photos folder.
  11. That is just pathetic that someone would return the kit for a refund after taking parts. The least they could do is buy the brand new kit and part is out on Ebay - which I also do not understand why someone spend time creating listings and shipping parts to make a few bucks.
  12. I wish I did but they fell apart and ended up in the spare parts boxes. The Iron Horse body was repainted purple later on and I have it somewhere. All the other ones were common kits.
  13. Very nice build and nice color combo. I have pictures of the prototypes in Dearborn in 2003 and they still look modern despite being designed 20 years ago. I met the designer Camilo Pardo at the Carlisle Ford Nationals.
  14. While we are talking Daytona Coupes here are a few. The one Peter is standing next to is a McClusky built coupe owned by a friend. And just for fun here is Shelby next to a Cobra at Lime Rock CT in 2000.
  15. I was digging through some old prints and found this picture of six Mustangs. The yellow one on the left was made to replicate my 1st 72 Mach1 I bought in 1976. I guess I was not going for replica stock builds back then. The Mach1 was the first of many 1:1 Mustangs I would own along with an embarrassing number of kits acquired over the last 45 years.
  16. Why sure but then you end of with something like this Revell one. Be careful what you wish for. There nothing really Eleanor about this diecast “kit” except the color. But since it is a nice otherwise stock GT500 it does not bother me at all. Greenlight did a decent diecast (except for those side mirrors) but I guess they paid for the licensing.
  17. Yes they would. It would need the 71/72 front rubber bumper but the 73 grille. The movie car was quite the hybrid representing a modified 71/72 Mustang with a blacked out rear like a Boss but a standard flat hood. Like others have mentioned the Johan Funny car provided the hood (after cutting it out of the one piece body). I have never read where Eleanor had the Mach1 option when originally purchased but with all the medications made by Halicki it’s had to know for sure but I have my doubts that it did.
  18. Very nice build and no problem with taking your time - well worth it given the final result. I have built a few Pantera kits with more still in the boxes. I passed on the Fujumi kits as they did not seem to be that different from earlier variations and pretty pricey for a curbside kit.
  19. I would put my money on Revell. While Round2 has made a few changes to the MPC kit branded as AMT, they still have those $%^&**# vents in the back of the hood which never have and will never be correct for any 71-73 Mustang hood. Even more unbelievable is the same mistake has been made in the Ertl 1/18 diecast models. It makes me wonder if they even bother to look at a real car when they decide to make a “new” model.
  20. I wonder who paid $59.95 for the tape back in the day? ?
  21. Most young people do not even know what the first Eleanor was or have seen the movie. They could have chosen any name but to carry it to the movie “remake” was to me not important since the about the only thing it had in common with the original was it was a Mustang. So many people thought it was so cool and might not even recognize a real 67 Shelby anymore with all the movie clones out there. I was not a fan the original car as it did not have the NACA hood and had the 73 grille. You rarely seen clones of the original even though it would not be that expensive to replicate one. My bet is if Halicki were still alive he would have not wanted to have anything to do with the remake and could care less about suing anyone.
  22. I have seen them at Walgreens also.
  23. It’s not a great kit by any means but I wish AMT or MPC would have made an attempt to do a T/A version of a 69/70 fastback. The MPC Super Stocker was the only kit I remember that deviated from a replica stock Mustang. Making most every thing from scratch is no fun turning a street car into a road course racer. I put my Tope build aside while working on some other projects and should get back to working on it again next month.
  24. This is the 73 coupe body from MCRC but sadly you might have to look elsewhere or scratch build your own. I added the sport mirrors.
