  1. Well I broke down and bought the one on Ebay for $75 (see the gold painted one above) as I figured I may never see one at a reasonable price. A built up one was fine with me as I have rescued and rebuilt other project cars. I’d much rather have something I can build versus just let it sit in a box unbuilt for another 50 years. My apologies to Snake and anyone else that was going to make an offer but frankly when it was listed at $125 I do not think my offer would fly. I guess you never know. I have the original box and I think I have the decals too so I’ll post pictures when they are all together. Even if some parts are missing I can probably cobble together enough to build build a nice 66 GT just before the new and improved Round2 one comes out.
  2. Count me in for anything for a Mustang. ?
  3. The 1/87 Lemans Miniatures kit is great for its size. ?
  4. Nice dissection. With all the spare bodies you have from using the chassis parts for your 65-66’s I’m sure you did not sweat cutting two up for one.
  5. You could have fooled me. Keep them coming.
  6. I wish I had found it. Another member in our club brought it in for show and tell. I actually have just the box like the one in these pictures but had never seen the actual kit.
  7. Can anyone identify the body and chassis of this old swap meet find. The chassis is throwing off my assumption that it is an AMT kit.
  8. Year that is pretty pricey for one pair.
  9. That’s crazy. I forgot how small the mufflers are in the kit. I’ll have to take a look at the 1/12 65 Mustang GT kit to see if there are any normal size ones. No help with the GT350 kit as it has side exhaust with cherry bomb style noice makers. Not even sure I still have the regular fastback kit. Shapeways has flowmasters.
  10. Mufflers? I’m still looking and do not see them.
  11. For a silly 1/28 kit the Japanese got the body on this better than any AMT or MPC kit.
  12. Check with kenny@kennyterry.com. He made me some 72 Mach1 decals in 1/25 long before the Round2 “AMT” Mach1 kits came out so perhaps he has the art work and could resize them to 1/12.
  13. Makes you wonder which real car they used to come up with the kit. How many 429 Mach1’s made it over to Japan? Answer is at least one. Looking forward to the build Ray. I wish I was as motivated as you in cranking out nice builds.
  14. Do a test to see which clear coat works best.
  15. Testors makes a metallic green spray which I have used on a few builds that is pretty close. Automotivetouchup.com and touchupdirect.com sells large size cans of the original Ford color. I have bought some other colors from automotivetouchup.com nad was pleased with the results. I painted the green fastback with the Testors metallic green.
  16. After this one if you get the urge to do something different in a smaller scale here’s the Testors Mach1/Boss metal body kit that I converted into the police version. The Japanese writing was hand painted.
  17. Grabber green metallic would be really cool but you would probably have to spend $40 on a large spray can made for touch up. There was one 429 exported to Japan and it had the fender side markers added as required by Japanese law. It’s a shame about the decals. I’ve seen these police decals on Ebay but it’s doubtful there was ever a real car used by LA county. I have to laugh about the 455HO decals - perhaps they are meant for a TransAm. There was a 73 Mustang used in Japan for police duty perhaps to catch those GI’s that imported muscle cars while stationed there. There are some differences from the 71 (grille and wheels mainly) plus of course all those Japanese words you would have to hand paint. The picture is of a 1/18 diecast. I look forward to seeing what direction you go with this one. I built one in the mid 80’s but it broke apart and I bought the “newer” versions with the chrome plated wheels.
  18. It’s 1/12. Here is one version I have never see in person.
  19. Very nice replica. Well done.
  20. I prefer the Johan body with the flat hood but there were bodies with the scoops and a more updated versions with a longer chassis and narrow body. So I’d say it all depends on which car you are trying to replicate as the bodies of the real cars morphed and AMT and MPC seemed to catch up with some of the changes. I think the Johan body is perfect for the early Blue Max and some others as pictured below but no one body can really be used to represent the evolution of the cars over the three or so years. Getting as many period pictures would be the best start in building a specific FC to determine which kit would be the best to use. To me the Johan body also most resembles the street version and I’ve even cut out the hood to use it for a stock Mustang build.
  21. I suppose you could try the Molotow pen on the wheels. I think there were different versions of the wheels in the kits (Otaki vs. Doyusha) but the only other thing I can think of is to somehow polish them to a chrome like shine. Both my kits have the chrome trees so I will not have the same issue you will.
  22. You know I am a fan. I’ve got s few 71-73 Mustang drag kits but like many other kits in the collection they have yet to be built. This give me hope that there is still time.
  23. You are a building machine Ray. Maybe I should concentrate on one kit at a time to be more productive.
  24. He is back and catching up to orders that were on hold for a few months while he recovered from bypass surgery. The last thing he is worried about is updating the catalogue or creating a website. Be patient and call him during working hours to get an idea of how long it’s taking to fulfill orders. He has some inventory but most items are made to order. He’s been making parts for 42 years and we should all be thankful.
