I’ll plead the fifth on that one. ?

So here is a one of one 1996 Cobra painted with Testors Color shift paint to emulate the Mystichrome paint used on 1996 on the Cobra coupes. Only after I painted the body did I realize Ford did not produce the Cobra convertible that year with the special paint. A shout out to David Rutland for sending the radiator hoses which I somehow lost during the build that started before Covid. One hose was for the 99 Maroon coupe I built about 20 years ago and while comparing it to the 1996 I noticed the lower hose was also missing. Thanks for looking and appreciate any comments or suggestions or pictures of your Cobra Mustangs. I sure wish someone would have made a 2003-2004 plastic model Mustang Cobra but I bought a 2003 1:1 red fire one a year ago anyway.

That probably covers a lot of different cars. You may want to be a little more specific (Make, model, scale, which movie).

Actually David Miller posted that picture but yes Mustangs, Cobras and GT40’s are my main addiction.

That’s a bummer. -
Hopefully Keith will not mind. Personally I like any feedback from others when I post a WIP I or completed build as most of us can learn from others and like seeing similar builds.

Great piece of art. ? Well done sir. I forgot you posted a lot of reference photos. I added a couple on the other post.

A fantastic build all the way around. At first I thought the grille looked strange but I looked up some pictures and sure enough the area behind the driving lights is white. Nice to see Agora paid attention to details most would overlook. These two pictures are from 2003 and 2013.

Thanks Michele and Mike. I cannot believe I built that so long ago. I had to double up on the decals as they did not stand out very well against the darker color. I’ve painted one of the Revell fastback bodies grabber green and of course it’s on the back burner like so many other kits but the good news is I knocked out another kit that I had already painted the body a year ago in less than a week so at his point it’s a matter of what to tackle next. The next convertible I paint I think will be Gulfstram Aqua which is one of my favorite colors for the 69-70 Mach1’s and Shelbys. P.S. - Sorry to tag onto the thread but I just love Mustangs. ?

That’s cool.

Super clean build. I built one in the same colors except it was before Revell made the convertible so I used a Minii Exotics resin body. I built it over 25 years ago. The bare metal foil on the windshield was not my best.

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
vamach1 replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
It’s Testor’s Colorshift spray paint which I bought at Michael’s. They sell it at Hobby Lobby also. They recommend using the metallic black base coat first. Retail is about $9 a can but it lays on really well. I have a confession - Ford did not make a Mystichrome Cobra convertible in 1996 but why let that stop me from making my own. I added a quick video to show off the changing colors. IMG_2117.MOV -
"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!

Thanks so much. It would overheat since it’s missing the upper radiator hose. ? If I added plug wires it would fool me too for a minute. -

That is sweet. ? Great clean build. I wish I count paint stripes that well for a GT350 biuld. Perhaps we may forget about those 1/25 annuals after all. ?

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!

It’s been a while since I’ve made any progress on anything (except going through 40 years of old car magazines) but I did make some progress on the mystic Cobra and hope to finish it this month. The last few months have felt like Groundhog Day every day. Other than one part GoodbuildNY is sending me this one is done finally. I really like this Colorshift paint. Now it’s on to that MPC Cobra II. -
Group 5 Pantera 1978
vamach1 replied to vamach1's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Yes there are a lot of racing versions to do but not that many to do with this particular body that I am surprised was even kitted. No luck with snikeforce1 on doing decals so back to the drawing board. The GT4 and GT5 race categories allowed what seems to be almost unlimited body modifications. I’ll keep this kit as it seems to be pretty unusual and was not part of the wave of Fujumi reboxed kits. The Gulf liberty picture is not based on a particular car but it sure looks cool. -
I have a few but built them early in the Monogram days. The decal sheet looks improved over the older issues but as Snake45 said the 1/25 builders will have to pony up some bucks for an original issue 65 or 66 fastback which is why I only have some glue bombs in that scale due to the collector prices.

Conley 1/4 scale Shelby Cobra
vamach1 replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Beautiful but some people have way too much time on their hands. I sold my “real” Factory Five 1:1 replica for less than half of that asking price and I could drive it. This 1:4 model will probably end up in the Shelby Collection in Colorado. -
I think age is on the side of this one. Fossils should not be shiny white so the aged look suits this kit well.
