  1. I got tired of waiting for the nearest Hobby Lobby to get them so I ordered one online. Looks pretty good and at least the grille is back to resembling the 1971 version.
  2. Old post but what the heck. Renwal did the 65 Mustang which Revell reissued and then made into the R&T GT350.
  3. Looks great and agree this “kit” is not for the average builder. Do you have an estimate of total hours you spent and how many if you did not do any modifications? Also curious about the steering wheel - does it turn the wheels? I have not see one in person and I can understand the concern about taking it anywhere due to the size and weight.

  5. Welcome Marco. Take this as a compliment - at first I thought it was an expensive diecast. Superb paint and detail on the multi-color livery and the decals.
  6. Found this picture of a nice C code 429 in a 71 Mach1. It’s the non ram-air engine which is usually associated with a Mach1 that does not have the black or silver paint on the hood.
  7. I have no issue with that as he has more time to make these fantastic kits. ? Same goes for Norman Veber. Unfortunately we have not had any MAMA meetings in almost a year due to COVID but I pass along to him everyone’s comments to him via old fashioned snail mail. I’m sure JC (aka AFX) talks to him regularly as well and I cannot wait to get back to normal life to see Brad and Norman and all the rest of the awesome craftsmen in this area. I did notice Mary Veber (Norm’s wife) is on Facebook if anyone wants to say hello to Norm or Brad. Update: I just spoke to Brad two minutes ago and he is doing very well under the circumstances and he is laying low due to COVID and his health but he wishes everyone well and he will keep making his world class kits and hopes everyone keeps building model cars. P.S. I bought the Daytona Coupe kit from Brad about ten years ago and hopefully following along will motivate to start on mine. ?

Yes - hilarious gaff by filming the Alley stunt in Hollywood vs. solely in Vegas, That view shows it is a 351C 4v car unless it was the lighter 302 2v with dual exhaust added by the stunt company which would seem like a lot of trouble to go through when they missed such an obvious filming mistake. It’s very unlikely the 429CJ was used for the stunts due to the heavier front end.
  9. Good suggestions. Thanks. I have a very expensive crawl space that if it was another four feet above ground and three feet more head room it could have been a basement. With a high water table we have a very large “crawl space” that I can stand up in and have six inches to spare standing up.

  11. Looking very cool. The Otaki 1/12 Mustang Mach1 has bulbs for the headlights and taillights and a battery compartment.

  13. Count me in. I would only need to raise it about 1/2 of that but sadly I do not have a basement because of the water table. I opted for a three car garage (unseated) so I spray paint outside and store and build models on the mail level of the house.

I think them main complaints are major errors made in this kit from 50 years ago are still there (engine, chassis, etc.) and while the modified grille and front bumper and wheels and decals are appreciated, this kits still takes a LOT of extra work to recreate anything close to a REPLICA stock 71 Mustang Mach1 with a correct engine and exhaust system. Expecting anyone to pay $30 retail for one may seem like a good deal when the vintage kits sell for $100 but they were really no better. Having said that once I do purchase this kit @40% discount in the store I will post a follow up of exactly what parts should be tossed aside and what replacements can be used. In the end someone would have to use parts from three different kits plus some resin parts (so expect to spend a lot more) just to create one replica stock Mach1 with a 429 CJ engine and C-6 automatic that the late Mr. Connery drove in the movie which the box art implies one can build out of what is inside the box. If I offend anyone that is in love with old promo based kits that are reissued over and over I’m sorry but I’m sure there are others that are used to “newer” kits that are very accurate and do not need major parts swapping just to build a replica of a real car. I’d gladly pay full retail if there was a kit that had just one correct engine (351C or 429CJ and not a 351W or 428) with a correct dual exhaust system with mufflers and a decent nine inch rear end and an improved interior (seats and door panels) and realistic engine compartment and a hood without incorrect “cowl” vents, etc.

  18. Incorrect horn location. What’s with the side exhaust and wheelie bars and fuel pumps - extra race car parts?. Half of a nine inch rear end. No rear shocks. Radiator cap in wrong location. GM like inner fender panels. That leaves the battery which could be better too.

  21. Agree with the other comments. Fox body Mustangs (factory stock) seem to be getting a little more respect these days. I have a few unbuilt ones as collection would not be complete without a few Mustangs from the late 70’s through the early 90’s. That first issue kit is the only one with the correct hood scoop for the. 79 Turbo Cobra.

  24. Love the red paint. If Revell is listening two improvement to this kit would be decals for the hood and trunk and fender emblems and to ditch the hokey TRX tires and replace them with period Goodyear “billboard” tires.
  25. I hear you for sure. Got the latest FSM yesterday and threw it away after flipping through the pages. Glad my leftover subscription ends soon. If Kalmbach wants to do special issues (with just cars) and they are a rehash of ones already in SA that’s fine - they will probably sell thousands and frankly it might be more useful than what we were seeing the last five years anyway from the magazine.
