2016 Builds...Let's See 'Em....
10thumbs replied to kilrathy10's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Excellent models guys! My stuff is real weak this year. The Pete 359 is only 2 lousy hours away from being called finished, its been this way since August, and I can't get myself to do it. My goal is sometime in February. -
Rooster, my choice of wording was off. Annoyance was not good, my fault for fogging things up. What threw me off a bit was that it appeared the headlights and bar were out of scale, not your fault. That's why I think in this case the tank would look better down on the frame rails. The real cars shown, also the latest entry from Rick, all look good in my opinion. All three cars are different too. Just my preference would be to not have the tank hanging from the bar. Sorry again for my lacking ability to come across properly.

Gator, nice looking cases there, and a real nice topic too. You guys have nice shelving and viewing possibilities, good stuff. Great looking models too! I'm a shipbuilder at heart and my hobby room is not big enough to put ships 30" long and more and 2 feet high under or behind glass. Recently though, I like the way a Pete 359 fits between two old wooden hulks. A couple of cars are just sitting in a bookcase, slightly visible in the background. Let's just say there's room for improvement. The ships get a bath about every 2 years or so. The room is full of them, this is just a part of one wall.

Well Rooster I've tried to convey my opinion, since you asked for an opinion on the headlight bar with the tank on it. Sorry if my opinion doesn't seem to sit well with you. Not to worry, it's all good, and I'll leave it be. Good luck with your future build.

1965 Comet 202 Sedan hobby bracket racer
10thumbs replied to Reeves Racing's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Thanks Mitch for the info, greatly appreciated. I always liked built small blocks in small cars. Seems like the motor you guys built made to spin and the numbers from a small block and a probably fairly heavy car could still whoop on anything Detroit made from the muscle car days. I'll bet it sounded pretty healthy too. I remember in '66 or so a local Ford dealership sponsored a couple of cars, notably a Falcon with a really loud, snappy 289 block. The car was immaculate and ran well too and I enjoyed having a peek at the car on the property of the dealership, a notable Ford performance dealer. a Thunderbolt was also there. Very cool cars. Thanks. -
I hear that! lol.

1965 Comet 202 Sedan hobby bracket racer

Now how cool is this! A post door mid 60's race car. Excellent Mitch, I love it! I don't mean to take your build off topic, but how about a few details about the motor you ran? On another note, I don't even remember seeing a Comet body like this. I really like the project. -
Yes I saw the black car, the silver one too. The headlights appear to be a lot smaller on the real cars, that's what annoyed me somewhat in your mock up. Also on the black car, the bar appears to be smaller. Maybe a real piece of metal wire instead of the thick plastic? I don't mean to criticize, just you'd asked for an opinion. I like the theme of the model for sure.

I like it.

69 pro mod chevelle, chassis started mock ups
10thumbs replied to mr68gts's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Excellent plans here. But something I don't understand, will the parts be actually made into a real medium? Resin or metal? -
Nope! The tank is good, just hanging on the stock headlight bar is not so good. My opinion, the bar has to go. Better mount the tank lower, towards the frame rails. Seems to me also, the headlights are too large for your application. I really like the theme here, I have a similar build in mind as well.

I've had so many issues with the USPS and UPS, DHL and you name it that it just stinks. Let's face it, things are not the way they used to be. Modern technology has let our lives become a daily pita. Everyday life is not easy anymore, bureaucracy has made the longing for a retired simple life unachievable. I'm almost daily amazed at the BS one has to confront from plain simple everyday transactions. Not to mention the online correspondence, or lack thereof.

Good news is I will have some time to build models
10thumbs replied to russosborne's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Hello Russ, You've gone through a major attack to your body, and you're not a kid anymore. These things take time to heal, please take it step by step. You're the same dude you always have been, just big time attacks take bigger time for adjustments as time moves on. Great that you're around and that you share your fears, and feelings to us. I'm touched by your honesty, and feel because your ability to relate is so forward, you'll be on the road to recovery very soon. I wish you well. -
Oh my. Walter, my opinion, about the coolest of all Mopars. Things are coming along nicely! Funny too about the headers, do they ever fit? 'Where's my hammer'?
-
Great news Jim! Congrats. My wife likes maybe 10 ciggies a day, I'm not a smoker. She smokes only in the kitchen (window and exhaust on) and after a good meal in the dining room. Windows open afterwards. The place does not smell at all. Good so. As for smoking and other vices, tolerance is the way to go, my opinion. Tolerance meaning, not what others accept, just do it in a measured way. A little of a lot of stuff might be good for you and your soul, just keep it under control. I hope for you that you find ways to accept that your new life is indeed the better way. More important, that you appreciate yourself more.

I cannot imagine the grief of a parent learning of their child's death. -
Carl, a definite thrill for you. Sounds fantastic. I'll bet that was worth a couple of pics, and smiles.

No Stevie Wonder stuff here, but I do like lots of old Motown groups, great music and presentation. Gladys Knight....and so on. Outside of English Rock, Southern Rock is right there too from the earlier days. Country Outlaws is a for sure. Out of the box is Andre Rieu and his orchestra! Classic beautiful compositions, he has it all. The crowd rocks at these festivals. Just unbelievable!

GREAT! Finally we see one of these cars slammed, and not a gasser turd. These are also hot rods, my opinion, and you just proved it.
-
Hi Mark, very nice job and the model looks cleanly built and painted, compliments.
-
Just excellent work Dale! Your painting skills are top notch and are a pleasure to view. I especially like the paint mix on the '68 Dart. The body work on all of your entries are also a view to behold. If I might ask, maybe a paint tutorial for an upcoming build? Like a step-by-step deal? Such a great talent, much respect from my side.

Nicest 4 banger; your thoughts.

A Datsun 510. Now that was a foreign car I remember! Ole cousin had one that was really quick, I loved riding in the thing! It was not stock either, and had lots of power. I liked the body, a nice racer. Looked good too. -

Looking great Tyrone. Could you offer some insight to your frame tubing, or in the modeling sense, bending procedures? I've wondered often how you guys bend styrene like this. -
Gino Bruzzese Jr. has passed away
10thumbs replied to Tesla's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just a thought now. I'm watching on Netflix the 'Shawshank Redemption'. A while back I PM'd Gino if the 'tree' really was in Buxton, where Gino was from and where he lived. He told me the story and no....anyways, we had some decent conversations, and I remember the red/beige 352 he was working on. I really liked the paint combo. I was eyeballing a similar paintjob for the project back then. His was better. So sad when someone you knew of passes on.
