The cheater slicks back in the day were 7" wide. They had 2 grooves. A car had to make some steam to spin them too, they did provide decent grip. Just they were not good for street cars that were driven often. Lots of guys used to mount them to make a statement, just a sudden rain and wet roads made for some squirelly driving and was an adventure, just short of being plain dumb. The Lindberg Dodge I built has a rear slick that's 9mm wide, it looks good in my opinion. That would be a scale of about 9", in real its like 0.35". Any less the car just loses the proper look and becomes kind of wimpy, my opinion. I did change the rear end geometry to raise the body though as I think the kit depicts the car as being way too low overall. For a model car in 1:25, a cheater slick could be a real 1/3" or there abouts. Any tire that's less just looks weak, my opinion.

How to pronounce Porsche

That's a pretty good looking sports car there. -
Not many Bob Dylan songs being shown here. I'm still nuts about Blood On The Tracks from '75. Early one morning the sun was shinin'.... Good one.

How to pronounce Porsche

LOL! Ther sauce is defo original. porsh-a. Emphasis on the 1st part. My lawyer-type brother-in-law needs to have one of these cars. The fool had to widen his very small garage so that the wide rear end would fit in there. Problem though, the neighbors were irritated about the noise of the car and and objected to his having the garage widened. Read law suit. Verdict: The garage had to be built back to original specs. This is a highly historical residential area, and the buildings have to be secured as national historic value. The only new Porsh-ee in the whole neighborhood that is not under cover. -
Thanks Bill for adding one of these kinds of topics. Gotta love it. In everyday life, I often can't believe what kind of un-intelligent younger people I'll run across in a day. Just last week, an international study shows that German 8th grade kids have generally become somewhat more adept to modern times. They've actually raised the rating from the previous study. German kids rate 16th in the world. Hard to believe such an ingenious and industrious folk could slip so far. Now I'll check out the 8th grade test from a hundred years ago.

Great info, thanks John Patton.

Great comments guys! How about being a kid again from the 50's, and marvelling at all the new models on the shelves at the hobby shop? Planes, Navy ships and cool car models. Fitment issues and complaints, not back then. Things were the way they were supposed to be.

Jim, these are exactly the points that make PB a pita. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Yesterday I made a 2nd Fotki folder, it went easily and quickly. Plus posting the pics on a forum is a dream. Right click the pic, copy and paste. The upload was quicker than PB, the pics are easier to post. I like it. This is however the 'free version'. I'd still like the possibility of sub-folders, but its not that important to me. The thing should work, and I have success so far.
-
What I like about PB compared to Fotki, is the ability to create sub-albums. My opinion, the sub-albums come in handy for a larger type project build album. But the Fotki deal is simple and uploads are quick. I like it so far.

PB is OK now. I was having issues since my recent Firefox update. I wasn't able to log in here to the forum either. So, I restarted Firefox in safe mode, without any addons, and all is good now. Firefox restart, PB is quick and responsive, the log in here is normal. The usual addons were renewed, things are smooth again. Haven't had a Firefox problem yet, but glad all is well now.

OK, I just tried a simple copy and paste, it seems to work.

I've had it with PB also, it gets old. QUESTION: Fotki guys, could you please offer a short description of how to show pics from Fotki to this forum? I've made 2 folders, no problems. Just rather than experimenting, could anyone offer insight to posting pics here? Thanks.

Great perserverence John. 10 years, wow! I wouldn't want to know how many headaches the time and extra work has cost. Good though, its done. That alone is satisfying, hence my compliments. The car looks very well built, I like it.

Great looking model George! You did well and I like it. I'm building on a FED myself, man those are some long models! Good work George.

Harry, the available benefits are there for the taking. These were made for citizens that have become impaired from health issues, these issues cannot be foreseen, and its surely not to be rejected. No one alive refuses to say, no....I don't want the benefits. I'd love to come back home to the US to live a comfortable life on a waterfront down south, fishing and boating and BBQ and drinkin' with other clowns, but age has shown me that health care is most important. Old Europe is great in this respect. I have full coverage, period. This keeps me here. I hope that our country can soon benefit from some new plans for health care. Its really great that every person could have full health coverage, without abuse, and without ridiculous costs for the middle class. Its possible. Harry, lots of dudes here are your age and we all think the same thing....what if? Thanks guy, for opening your most intimate life and its journey. We all benefit from your updates.

Hi Harry, I've been following all of the infos and posts concerning your health status. Things will not be the same anymore for you. You will handle this with time and get along with the new environment. The change is difficult for sure, no one chooses this path voluntarily. You had a very close call recently, and your existing condition adds greatly to your concern. Personally, I've had one big health incident myself that was life threatening and very painful, most of the details of before and after I don't even remember. Later though, during reconvelescence, the self pity drove me nuts. I hated myself. Oh God, why me? What have I done? To myself; "I almost died", and the feeling was laming. This stuff is normal, and I can only hope that you are in a state that can allow yourself to get over it as quickly as possible. You are not alone. You are alive, and with your health care so far, I'm confident that you'll get along. As Jim wrote above, you have to get your head right as soon as possible. You'll get there, this situation sucks for sure, good that you have folks that help you, that's maybe the clue to half the battle. Good luck to you Harry.

I agree wholeheartedly. This way bobthehobbyguy, I don't have to read the nonsense you like to post. When you gonna show your 1st model? 4000 posts, maybe with the 5000th we can see something? Truly a great contributor here, many thanks.

"When you can explain to me Michael why your 4 link chassis frame brackets are on upside down, I might take your "query" seriously." Huh? I can only write that I am not an expert modeler, just that I ask decent questions. These also, in a decent manner. Could you offer some info about your experience with annealing brass tubes?
-
Wonderful. Tim, just a question, I'd love to hear your advice and insight. It appears to me that through annealing of the brass tubes for the headers that a definite structural collapse has occurred during the heating and bending process. Here the area I'm asking advice, for all of the tubes; Since you're painting the headers, do you feel that paint can fill the creases? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Another question if you don't mind. Would you suggest soldering the ends of the header tubes also? The pic suggests the header tube tips are soldered together, along with the brace bar. What a wonderful idea. Just excellent. Many thanks.

I enjoy reading this stuff, and lots of comments make me laugh. Great!!

Hi Carl, Happy belated Birthday! Great too for you that your Cubs got it, great stuff. Give Steve McQ and Telly-baby some shade for awhile, the Cubs deal is good, looks great. This way you don't need to have your hair styled. Maybe work on the long pants though, the uniform looks like they dropped a load during the games. Greetings guy, and have a great week! Michael

You did a real nice job on this car Tom, compliments.

Yep, lots of good guys have done well.
