  1. Dale, the 1st pic reminded me of a Marantz receiver. Man I bought the newest audio stuff while being active military. Can we say the barracks rocked? The whole joint had loud music, great too that the quality was good. About half the price of regular retail, if I remember correctly. My 1st speakers were Bose 901's. Anyone remember?
  2. Hi Bill. The 273's in an A Body moved well initially, true. Our family grocery getter, 65 Valiant 100, 273 3spd, tree shifter could actually smoke the tire with ease! Read, just a peg leg though, but the car was a thrill for me as a kid! The Mopars can make good steam and still be streetable and very durable if built correctly. They are not easy to build, but they work. I like especially the plain janes with steel rims and nut cups.
  3. Great news for you! Also, I'd like to thank Michael about the heads up; I agree! I've had most of my adult life Dachshunds. A favorite in Germany. The weenie dogs. Let me say these little dogs are plain tough, and can get really nasty towards weaker dogs. They hate easily, but were very protective of their own and their families. Agreed, let the terrier be an easy animal. I envy your joy upon a new adoption. I've seen too many go and will never want to have this pain again.
  4. ....and I always thought it was my fat fingers on skinny keyboards...
  5. Fantastic work Brian, you're detailing is a great incentive, thanks.
  6. Wonderful collection of builds, cleanly built and great paint.
  7. Looking good Bill, I like 'em.
  8. Well Mitch I really like the car. Don't really think I've ever seen this model of a Comet done before. Excellent. You mentioned a couple of small things, I agree. But this is no way a negative of the overall view. I love it. A special car, a special model. Congrats. You did good.
  9. Well, I can't really tell, the pics are blurry. Is that a SBM? What's with pic #2? Looks like the dude lost his legs. What's with the front wheels? For a finished car there seems to be some details missing. Got anything more to offer, like closeups of the motor and interior? Maybe the rear end setup for such a large tire? Thanks for showing this, greatly appreciated.
  10. They had a definite distinct styling. Take a look at DeSotos and Chrysler 300, a couple of Imperials....well some other fin jobs as well. Strong statement. The 62 to 65 Mopars are above all the rest. Oh Lord, give me a post door Mopar....with a bad-azzed motor. Heavenly. Let's talk SBC. Watch 'em run away when we write SBM. 383. 426. 340. 440. 360. These are numbers owned by Mopar. The motors are good and strong. Not easy to build, and you can't buy cams from Walgreens either. Go by the books, you don't need to go wild....they will run very well. Build them by the books and stay focused, you will have the better motor. Chebbie guys love cams. Mopar guys do the heads first, then choose the right Chrysler cam for the performance they want. Go roller too, lots of fun there. I've owned, and had several small blocks built in older type cars (65 Valiant), that just whooped all over anything else. Period. The car was insane. Stock parts.
  11. Bill it's looking awesome. Gotta love those Thunderbolts, there was one in my area too back in the day. Since you just mentioned above the names of Hubert Platt and Dyno Don's Comet, along with S&M's Match Race cars, I saw them all back then while they were on the Southern Circuit. Dyno Don was always strong and as far as I can remember him and Sox were always a tossup in the best of 5 schedules, but always close. I'm not really a Ford fan, but the cars were just tough, period, and very competitive. I like the paint scheme and its high quality, good stuff.
  12. Congrats Mark, just excellent. A great model you pulled off, love it.
  13. Excellent Mitch! Very nice attention to details.
  14. Actually, I rarely think about High School. Never been to a reunion either. Those kiddy days were left far behind once placed into the real world. There have been for me luckily, many other days to remember. As far as aging goes I'll say what many others have said before me. It ain't nothing for pussies. It's a tough row to how for sure. But still, many times I do think life is getting better! Just older bones is a pita.
  15. Thanks for posting. I like these ride-a-longs. He sure does sit close to the steering wheel though.
  16. Nor were the bodies sold as somewhat rusted. No 383 cross Rams either. Jeez guys, it's a hot rod build. A gasser. A model. Love the Drag race Forum. Always so exact.
  17. Indeed sad news. We have Puerto Rico modelers here that just build excellent models and it's especially sad when a friend passes. Respect.
  18. John, these pics are a tremendous asset to our forum! I love the quality pics showing how the metal really looks on those motors! Love it, many thanks!
  19. Looking good Dave, nice attention to detail as well. I like.
  20. Tory, please have a look at the rear tire fitment, the car would look a lot better when brought into perspective. The build sure looks wicked.
  21. Looks fairly wicked Joseph! I really like the choice of motors, always thought it might be good in a hot rod, and it's well built. Don't see any Henry J's here, great idea and its nice to see one finished too, lol. I like it.
  22. I'm really irked nowadays about an internet thing! More internet security is the name of the game. TOR is slower than a creeping Jesus. VPN!! Yeah, but I have a FRITZ!Box router, and this is a big pita. Been at it 2 days now and it looks like the cost of VPN was a total waste. Support sucks, and the tutorials about VPN for Windows is riddled with lacking and in-precise info. Domain Names and IP-changing issues have me biting into the keyboard. Can we say, money thrown out the window?
  23. Ha! My 1st time with something like this as a teenager. Pulled out big brothers tools and a small torch and thought I could solder up some seams around the top of radiator housing. Yeah right. Lots of solder on those older junkyard parts. Found out though how to unsolder parts as well. A buddy came over and fixed things up. @mike, how did your ordeal turn out?
  24. Drive, with Ryan Gosling had a couple of decent scenes.
