  1. Thanks guys, this stuff makes me smile. I have another mishap in memory. An airplane though. Revell Douglas AD6, I think it was 1:48. Fairly big plane, with a ton of parts. That thing beat me up good. The Orange Crate is one I'd like to build nowadays, cool model, my opinion. @Snake, what was the deal with the Avenger? Good to see that some are doing it all over again.
  2. Piece by piece. Very true, and humbling too. Those machined parts look exact and by gosh, it looks like fun too! I love getting a super clean and polished look on metal. Just last week I finished a milling job and the whole time I kept thinking, "now get the camera out and post some pics". Gotta love it. As a matter of fact, I do love working with metal in small scale, very satisfying. Thanks for sharing your progress.
  3. Me too. Lately though, I'm enjoying Mark Knopfler....loud!
  4. Great pics Hakan. @Oscar, those are beauties! Hey, about the 1st time I've seen real trucks, that are shiny and purdy like a real model. Great pics!
  5. Something here hopefully on a lighter note. When I was a kid, a new Revell model came out, the Orange Crate. Geez, what an experience. I broke several long chrome parts before they were even completely separated, and finally I just gave up. That kit was over my head. Decades later, the Heller model of the 5 mast ship Preussen, the very first step needed 150 very small loops made for the rigging. The box is still waiting to be opened again, that was 30 years ago. Which kits have kicked your butt? Which kits just did not agree with you at the time.
  6. Great job Bernard, well planned, executed and carried out. Again, your research has paid off. I did have a smile too, about the DQ. You just had to do it didn't you. Well done.
  7. Seth, dude....that's a dirty motor. I love it! Great work on the lines too. Copper wire, what a great idea.
  8. Ray this is really a great progression here and I'm happy to see that your skills advance so nicely. Very good stuff to watch and view, looks like your new hobby corner has taken shape. Compliments.
  9. Wow! This is what I call "speaking your mind". The OP has 129 posts. John Teresi has a couple more. Something tells me, I won't order from the OP either. Tell it like it is. Give 'em h..ell John.
  10. The last few weeks the TV, the Euro Championship. Most of the games have been so boring, I'd rather just listen and work on my project. Music is good too. Luckily, my wife supports my hobby and is happy to have me at home. Honestly speaking, I like being at home too.
  11. What a great thread! Roger, that was a good read, I've saved this one. Seems you have a sound background for this super build. Small blocks can be monsters, and it's good to read that SBM's get some love too. I know these things can run very well on the street and embarrass the heck out of lots of bigger boys. They can also be real loud. Ed, great stuff you're posting, thanks so much for the insider view, lots of guys here like reading this stuff, guaranteed! The W2's and R Blocks is getting into a region that should make Mopar guys hearts start to throb. Just a shame the stuff was, and is so expensive, difficult to build too. The material can whoop on lots of other brands without a doubt. With your expertise and the time you were with Ma Mopar, you probably know the R5 P7 deal. This is serious engine stuff, have they become adaptable for drag racing in the meantime?
  12. Nice work Clayton. I've learned too, changing the wheels and tires out makes a big difference.
  13. This is really turning out tough and hefty looking. The rear and decals look convincing, nice touches.
  14. Yes, great stuff here. In all of my internet travels I've never run across any really fist hand factory infos like this. Ed, so where exactly were the motors built? 288 SBM, never heard of that one either, was it a de-stroked 340 block? Thanks guys, also to Roger for this great build.
  15. Ed, that's some real interesting info. Can you tell us more about the race engines? What kind of numbers were those small blocks turning out?
  16. Great build James. I have a couple of Anglia Gassers to build, they sure look like a tough one to do nicely. These are cool cars, my opinion. Can you show us some detailed pics from under the hood and other areas, like the interior? Do the doors and trunk open on your model?
  17. Some really good tips here guys! Jon, let's try super thin coats with our airbrushes and see what happens. To date, according to the new info here, all of my applications were too thickly applied. This is the first time I've realised also, many more thin coats could be the clue.
  18. I'll bet lots of truckers are thinking, man I'd like to be in that thing. By the way, what is that red and black Peterbilt? I like it.
  19. Looks good Clayton. Open road, looks like you could let that rig go a little quicker than usually. What's with those double, double lines on the road? I've never seen those before, what's the deal?
  20. Hi Chris, I think it takes a lot of guts to go back to school to learn a different direction, good stuff! Good luck to you.
  21. Douglas, Douglas, Douglas....instead of deleting the posts you made, you should delete the messages.
  22. Hello Jon, I've read lots of hints and tips about Alclad chrome and I still can't do it well. In the meantime, I've stopped using Alclad chrome on my models. Problem solved.
  23. Great model KJ! The fans are a wonderful touch, a very clean and realistic build.
  24. Guys, I think I just saw a spread axle. Now I know, finally. Thanks Bob. The post a few entries above....
