Oh yeah! I hear that. Just today, attaching the radiator shell to the hood. All of a sudden my little finger gets stuck to the hood, ugh. Big splotch there, it's ugly. Meantime, I know why this crud always happens, its OK. Irritating, too late to change, so get on with the rest. Here the latest goof, the project is as good as done, just this blunder on the upper right, the hood; All of my recent models have similar defects. Most have been removed. This though will be a toughy, its CA.

Losing My Sight------Update.......some improvement!

Good luck to you Bill. The future seems positive. I hope so. -
"Pretzel Lady". I can relate. Still around over here, the famous special foods folks. As modern as Old Europe would like to be, its great that the old country foods still rule. Everywhere I go in Europe, the basics are still there. Grab a quick sausage and/or really great portion of Belgian fries (the potato sort is most important!) and you're set to go. The hamburgers are useless here, but then I only like real home made burgers and nothing else. In southern Euro countries the meat foods diminish, then it really gets interesting, and unbeatable. The fast foods of Italy are just insanely delicious, with at most a slice of ham as far as meat goes. Pizza is only a starter, and only just a slight taste of what their cuisine offers. I would though, like to have a smeary face with some good BBQ.

Clayton, just a question; You have tinted glass, what color is it? Greenish, or bluish? I'm with tinting the windows on my project and tend towards a more green tint than blue. I haven't a clue what the deal is anymore in US. Looks kind of green to me. Whatcha got there? EDIT: Also, is there a vent window on the cab? Can't see anything of value yet from the pics. My project, could you imagine a chromed post for a vent window on a 359? The kit piece got in my way and is gone for good. Can I chrome a vent window post?

School me on Zoomies
10thumbs replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The length of the "zoomie", up swept pipes were limited to 18", not longer. Some builders, later then the mid 60's all builders, used the "Tampa dump, read Don Garlits" as the non plus ultra. This was the tilted front rake of the engine in relation to the riding surface. These dragsters had a minimum of only 23" from rear axle to flywheel. With the evolution of the slicks being used, the necessity to shorten, or better said to alter the end of the rearmost exhaust pipe to conform with tire size was mandatory, or else the pipe would rub against the slicks. Mostly, a vertical cut was used to make a safe clearance for the rear pipe to the slick. The rearmost pipe had an opening that was completely vertical to the ground. Dyno testing for proper header length was for sure in the full body classes necessary, I have no idea though of all of these rules. Just for zoomies, a dragster type exhaust, there were limitations, and the above mentioned is what I've gathered for a very exact future dragster build. -

Angel, which address did you send your request? Great info. -
Go dancing guys! Women love men who dance. If you can't dance well, most don't even care. Fact of life is, learn a few steps as a younger man, then enjoy the later thrills. That guys, is also a fact of life. RAY, great to hear the news!

Airport hassles and incompetence at the desk. Traveling is challenging nowadays. Please report the outcome.

Joe, these old beer bars exist in Germany. A big covered bowl with hard boiled eggs, and a fat delicious sausage with a thick pickle and a cool brew. Yep, good stuff.

Ray, a little more than styrene for sure. Should be about 8 times heavier than styrene. 94 is hefty, even for a larger scale like yours, this is a region where it really feels like something that's been built. I feel at this point your addiction has completely set in for sure, and that you've become hooked without a doubt. No looking back now my friend, heavy models are just cool to lift, and completely different in appearance than styrene. I enjoy seeing these developments, the parts look fantastic. You're doing well.

Ever wonder where they get their ideas ?

Skip, I see a couple of these rigs around and am not sure what the make is, just they're fugly. -
That looks similar to a German pretzel, just a little too light colored. Never heard of mustard on them though, my wife loves mustard, she'll dip the end in a mustard jar and grin like a thief. I like shredding a piece off and digging into a bowl of cole slaw (read kraut salad) then a bite off a hot simmered rindswurst with the thing dripping with mustard! Oh yeah! I has this pleasure just last Friday at one of those local trailer-ed grill stations downtown at the local market. Lots of local famous foods there, I love it.

I'd pass on mustard on a pretzel. Come on guys, get with the program. Hot butter at best. Better have a cool brew available though.

Hello Luc, Yes, actually the fries should be called Belgian fries, and not French fries. Oui, I'd like a portion with mayo and pulled beef. Delicious. Greetings.

School me on Zoomies
10thumbs replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hi Jon, while I was researching a mid 60's fuel dragster project, I found out the zoomie pipes on those cars were a maximum, mandatory 18" long. There were limitations for sanctioned drag racing. I have no idea what the rules were for your application though. I agree too they were single tubes from each exhaust port, mostly bound by a welded on strap at the lower bend, towards the end. The rule here though is unknown to me, just info from many pics. -
....structural integrity! Love it! Over here you won't find pizza in a formal atmosphere. Maybe the original street food? Amazing too, in Italy, a pizza is of course a wonderful snack for a quick lunch, the favored beverage along with it is a beer, believe it or not. Wine with a pizza....tourists like this variant. Me too, when I'm there its vacation time anyway. Geez, a simple pizza and a red wine on a sunny day in the shade?...yep, anytime. Can't wait then for the evening meal.

My brother-in-law worked as a young man for a while in NYC as part of his international law studies. He told me the folks there were somewhat concerned that he ate hamburgers with a fork and knife. Gotta love it. EDIT: On another note, it is refreshing to observe cultivated individuals with otherwise impeccable manners.

Come over to Europe and you'd be surprised at what's done with fork and knife at the table.

When did color fall out of favor?
10thumbs replied to Lunajammer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
In Europe, black or silver, that's about all. Lately though, French and Jap cars are seen with colorful clothes. I like Vespas. They've been colorful for decades. White seems to be coming back again with German cars. Maybe there's some environmental issues with blues and greens? For a while in the 90's, when the black cars became predominant, the blue shades were just plain ugly. I'm a blue-type-guy basically, but since then I haven't seen a good blue. BMW used to have a "midnight blue metallic" that was my opinion out of this world. Haven't seen anything like it in years. More "earth" colors nowadays are coming around over here. Some are really nice. -
