  1. Wonderful work Charles! I visited the Fire Dept. website you mentioned earlier. An interesting collection and also informative, I have more understanding of what you're building here. Excellent!
  2. Hi Tom, I like this thing! 25 cents, what a steal. I just had a laugh at a memory and experience I had at work before my military days. I sunk a D4 !! Working for a dredging company on night shift. The levee broke during a muddy and thin sand bed dredging phase, and something had to be done quick! Well, it was pitch black with only the moon shining, what looked to be firm enough was not, and the vibration of the D4 made it axle deep in nothing flat, soon it was above the hubs. Wet sand is like cement, not even a dozer gets out. I'll bet they're still talking about that maneuver! Cheers to a good time.
  3. Good topic Darryl! I've only built one, this was my 1st car model in 39 years, finished 2 years ago. Lindberg model with lots of mods; If I was to build another stocker, it would be the new Moebius 65 post door car. I dig post door Mopars.
  4. Well that's a green that cheers me up, I like it. Great too that you show your friend support with this project, that's good stuff.
  5. Hi Tom, man I don't know anything about old trucks, just that they look good to me. I know these are your favorites, and your work shows it now. Respect, you'll make it right.
  6. Oh yeah! Rich, next to another thing, nothing better than naked rails. A real cool and clean, smooth look. I like!
  7. Fantastic scratch building! Excellent work , a pleasure to watch.
  8. Hi Gator, man I feel what you're going through. Waiting for parts makes my hair more gray. Sometimes from the States the best is 8 days to Germany. I have though waited 3 months. Can we say Customs in Europe? Yep! Read we want no US stuff over here.....oh no, that's political. Sorry guys.
  9. Excellent scratch building Jarda! Wonderful work.
  10. OK. I found out the length of the flat beds seems to be up to 24 ft. That's a long bed! That comes out to a scale of almost a foot! The frame on my project has already been stretched, the end of the frame is 8" away from the back of the cab. I can't make a flat bed that hangs another 4" behind the frame, that would look silly. I saw some 24 ft. flat beds on Peterbilts and they didn't hang over quite that much. So I guess I can just eyeball it and let it be. Just can't do it a real 1:25 scale.
  11. Good ones Clayton! I really think this is the way for me to go with my project. These trucks look great! QUESTION: On the technical side, the headache racks, do they have to cover the whole backside of the cab? What's the rule on this? Clayton, do you have any pics from the rear, showing the truck bed setup?
  12. Yeah Rich, lets wait till Clayton shows up. I was kind of suspecting Clayton might have an idea or two. Hi Angel, that's a tough looking rig there for sure and I like it. Real powerful and purposeful, I like these kind of models. My current project needs though some smoother lines out back, that's why the hay hauler pictured has my interest. I'd love to build a heavy dump truck or one similar to what you show here. Great looking!
  13. Hello Guys, I saw this recently on 10-4 Magazine and this rig just kills me. For my taste, and room to shelve models, this is it. On the walls of my room are big wooden historical sailing ships, some 3 feet long. I'd love to build a bunch of trucks, and scratch build trailers. I don't have room. Period. This style of truck has it all, my opinion. One model, lots of details, compact and powerful looking. This rig exudes class, I'm more than likely going to make my current project something like this. Would you guys please show me more pics of short bed haulers? Maybe links? Do you have any models to show? How about details on how the bed is attached to the frame, I have no idea. But I like what I see!
  14. An interesting topic. I was born in Florida and lived there until Uncle Sam thought it was time to go to Europe. I have no noticeable accent whatsoever, although I can still lay down some southern country talk. Living in Europe for a long time now, this has helped me understand better others who speak English, but with different accents. Like British and South African folks, even foreigners who speak English with strong accents. I can understand these people much better than years ago. i really like listening to the Irish, and the Scots too. I haven't any experience with Welsh though. I'll have an ear out for the links posted above.
  15. Good progress going on, good looking truck. Will the thing actually tilt up?
  16. Hakan, that's a tour I would enjoy too. Not many traffic lights out there, huh? I like.
  17. Hey Joe....no, no. Not "whatcha doin' with that gun in your hand". Good to see you're doing something other than grillin' and chillin' out on your terrace and otherwise enjoying life. Lots of folks have to work for a living. You've done your job, hat's off to you bud. Well done! Good progress here, I like! Greetings.
  18. Looking good Roger. A Ramchargers Duster, I didn't know they had a Plymouth until now. My new life started at this time and I then lost track of S/S, and never liked Funny Cars afterwards. I'd like to see the rear wheels fit a little better into the fenders, like on the original pic. This is really a good looking Mopar, the Dusters were a good design, my opinion. Good choice and a solid start, I'd like to check in and see development.
  19. All of the above, lets go back a while. The Searchers. Traffic you say. Steve Winwood, everything he's done. The Spencer Davis Group. How about this guy, Hank Marvin? Apache.
  20. I like this thread, and the music. What can better bring back memories of the 50's than some doo wop smooth. Thanks Joe for this old thrill. I was born '51, good old cars had good old radios, some of my very first music memories was this cool shady crooning. I like.

    VW 411

Great model! I owned one of those things, must have been maybe late 70's. Kind of a rare VW animal, not many sold, it ran well, had lots of room, but then the trouble started. Fuel injection was faulty and difficult to tune, read it guzzled gas like a V8! I was happy to get rid of it.
  22. Some good stuff going on here, thanks Dennis. Tonight I'll make an attempt.
  23. I like the updates, the details on the motor look very good and the rack looks perfect. Dennis, question: I don't quite understand the deal with the raised panels for the rack. You wrote the panels were just scored from the back, then bent. I don't get it. Is this just one piece of sheet? Then you made on the backside an "X" cut, then just bent the 4 sides? I've been wondering a long time how I can do this type of raised seam. I can get having one bend, but four?
  24. I like models that have tilting bodies, nice looking build. But why do you run the plug wires to the back of the motor?
