GFLF Simba 8x8 (Wheels 08-22-2015)
GLMFAA1 replied to kilrathy10's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Good luck with this monster of a kit, There was an article in a British model magazine when the kit first came out with some corrections on the directions, If you follow them you can't get the frame to the body I did mine when fluorescent orange was big, Used Pactra pearl white (that dates this build) under the flourescant orange that was airbrushed. Yes my tires did decay and got replacements from Revell, I don't think ArmourAll is going to save them If you need some fire builders insights http://scalefirehouse.com/sfh_brd/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3829&p=37822&hilit=Simba#p37822 greg -

Upcoming EMS week models
GLMFAA1 replied to GLMFAA1's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
EMS week approaches again and the projects get a little attention: The Chevy got retro to a 1967 with the help of a Modelhaus grill cut into the grill This makes it my first ambulance I worked in. It still needs some details as the back spot light, rear step and rear hinges Just painted the full dish wheels to look like the dog dishes, Worked on teh body so much I wiped out the trim and put it back with Evergreen stock but could not get the wheel well rounds so it just got bare metal. The real McCoy Happy EMS week to all emergency and first responders greg -
No it was the goofy force 440 MPC kit less the NASCAR tires greg

Years ago the local paper did an article on my fire truck collection, so I built a replica of the paper's staff car and gave it to the reporter who wrote the story. She passed away recently and I had access to the estate and did not find the car. Used Testor's oange spray and block dry transfer letters then inked in the Roman type style greg

Curiosity has set in, Does this kit have mechanical brakes or hydraulics? I had a 1-1 bug convertible and it had hydraulics, I heard that the converts were the only ones with hydraulics. greg

Way back when I got into modeling scale didn't matter like Aurora aircraft carriers being all the same size, but when it came to cars you knew immediately the difference when You saw the Monogram 55 Chevy and the AMT 57 Chevy. Just for reference in size let's take a newer kit that has some length to it- The Mobius 53' trailer 53 feet = 636 inches 636 inches divided by 24 = 26.5 in scale length 636 inches divided by 25 = 25.44 in scale length 1.06 inch difference greg

How about the net between the radiator and front bumper way back in the 1920's to catch the errant pedestrian. Caught this the other day, As far as I know there is only one roll down window on the drivers side of a Chevy Astro, Those are 2x4x8's sticking out the driver's window. Even safety devices will not save some drivers from their stupidity As a life long EMT it is interesting how safety devices have helped and hindered EMS in extrication and patient handeling at accidents greg

Chevy Police Van
GLMFAA1 replied to GLMFAA1's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I believe the kit were about $3.00 a piece at the time I acquired them, I have many variations of the police car kit and it had a lot of great parts greg
