thanks Gary, i used Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing silver by Zero paint ZP-1296 My Cobra registry doesn't state what silver was used but the driver Lothar did own a Mercedes Benz dealership at the time.

thanks guys for all the positive comments. yah they are a bit too shiny, will have to try a race weathered version someday with dirt ,grease, rock chips and dull paint.

thanks guys for all the positive comments Larry, the hoods do open and my first 2 builds have the least amount of detail. build thread is posted on the workbench, shelby team 427 cobra's. i use Zero paint primer and base coats with automotive House of Kolor clear. blue is Guardsman blue part #ZP-1080 and silver is Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing part # ZP-1296. #11 CAR has decals from monogram kit and #6 car has studio 27 decals. most all other cars i'm doing have V-R-M decals and they are by far the best decals i have used so far.

Newbie issues with clear finish
65slotcar replied to skinnyhoops's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
did it look ok after tamiya black? if you use a primer or base coat that is acrylic and then spray lacquer clear over that you may have problems. if all paints are lacquer no problem. but lacquer tends to bite into acrylic and cause problems. it almost looks like orange peel from using spray cans. i use Zero paint brand primer and base coat with airbrush. then i use automotive House of Kolor clear (acrylic urethane) now my base coat may be lacquer but acrylic urethane is ok to use on top of lacquer. i know an airbrush and Zero paint may be expensive, but they do work well. i would at least think of getting an airbrush to get a finer mist and smoother finish. i hope this helps you out some what. -

Looking for dragonsnake decals
65slotcar replied to GoodbuildNY's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
https://www.pattosplace.com/ pattosplace has decals for a different dragonsnake. but please let us know if you find them. -
a few more clear coated . cleared all bodies the same, monogram/ revel and studio 27 decals had slight wrinkles. V-R-M decals zero issues and no wrinkles . after a few very light coats, i now feel confident i can just bury the model with clear over V-R-M decals. great decals !!

getting close to the finish. did a test of house of kolor automotive clear UC-35. a little decal wrinkle on the 6 car but not too bad. i have a can of Zero Paint clearcoat lacquer, but was afraid lacquer would wrinkle or melt decals. has anyone used Zero Paint lacquer over decals ?
